I only get that in a specific case, I don’t know if it’s related:

How do you make a "Private" forum visible to some WordPress classes?

    JJJ? Any ideas?

i can use wordpress to use this forum. my site is coded from scratch. except for the forums. i use phpbb. i like the layout sequence of this forum and wanted to use it. but i can probably just edit the phpbb code myself to get the results i want.

spambots on an official site promoting a service rubs me the wrong way and is a turn off

My post toolbar plugin handles youtube by way of shortcode .

    https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/bbpress-post-toolbar/

I also will have the same problem when I upgrade my site in that the old posts will just be links to the video, rather than embedding them. Personally I don’t see a problem here though :P

Ok I see, just read something which solved my problem..

“BuddyPress allows you to install a forked version of bbPress. It is not the same as this bbPress.”

I was getting stumped on the fact the integrated version didnt have admin menus like the standalone bbpress does..

BuddyPress is not compatible with the bbPress plugin yet. (You can BuddyPress and bbPress perfectly alongside eachother though, just disable the forum components of BuddyPress).

A new version of BuddyPress is coming out soon (JJJ said so, that’s why they’re working on buddypress.org this week) and I think that one will be compatible with the plugin.

Aside from the spam replies, nobody else with this problem? :)

@derpdiddy – I have no affiliation with bbPress other than being a user of the software. I have not coded a single line or made any other contribution other than trying to answer some of the questions on the forums so developers like JJJ can spend their time responding to the more complicated questions.

That being said, I would like to help you, but something in your responses is rubbing me the wrong way. In order to help you I need to know if you currently are or are willing to use WordPress on the site you want to convert from phpBB.

I’m trying to install the bbPress forum on my WordPress Theme. My theme indicates that they are compatible with bbPress.

I just put the bbPress forum on my server in my WP root folder, renamed the folder “Forum” and went to my site name: http://www.coastkidsconnection.com/forum and the bbPress installer doesn’t start as it’s supposed to according to the install steps. The login “remembers” my login/pass which must be from my WordPress login (and they’re connected?)… but it won’t log in. It goes to a blank page when I submit my login.

So, I created a new account to ask for help here as I couldn’t login with my WP login. I can still log in to my WordPress Dashboard with my WP login info though.

    Can you help me please?

@dobralog – Go to https://bbpress.trac.wordpress.org/browser/branches/plugin, click on the zip archive link on the bottom, and upload to your site.

WordPress is required for the plugin (2.0) version. 2.0 is in Release Candidate now and should be released soon. 2.0 is compatible with the anti-spam plugin Akismet.

This site currently uses bbPress 1.x, but will be converted to 2.x. bbPress 1.x does not require the use of WordPress since it is not a plugin.

    Which are you interested in?

I have a German webseite powered with WordPress (formerly with Redaxo). :-)

Now I tested the new bbPress plugin, but problems with languages, further bbPress plugins… nice try, but better would be a separate installation of bbPress with integration.

So I adapted my tmeplate, use the css files from WP and integrated ist in the navigation.

    The forum is at http://www.ug-ltd.de/service/forum.html

Also I changed some permalinks, date functions and so on.

    Hey guys!

So I’ve got the “Yen” theme purchased from Themesforest, and he hasn’t mentioned to me that the theme comes ready for bbpress. However, the bbpress plugin (along with the bbpress integration plugin) is actually working fine when it comes to allowing my site to have a fully functional forums section.

My issue, however, is that I really don’t like the current look. It just doesn’t look very good to me, and I’d love to be able to apply a theme to the layout in place of it, just like a typical single installation of bbpress would be.

Any way to help me on this? I can’t seem to figure out how to change the theme of this layout. I’ve never posted here before, and I did look around a little bit… but if this question has an answer, I’d love to be directed to it (and.. “sorry for the repeat post).

    Thanks again everyone.

Which version of bbPress are you interested in, the standalone (version 1.03) or WordPress plugin (version 2.0)?

If you already have installed WordPress, you’re probably better off using the plugin that you can easily install from the admin pages of your site.

Go to Plugins / Add New and search for bbPress.

As for uploading something, use a FTP client like Filezilla.

Different approach, new account, let’s hope my posts don’t automatically get flagged as spam this time.

    Ok, I’m running Version 2.0-rc-1.

Amongst my forums I have a forum that I have set to:

    Status: Open

    Visibility: Hidden.

Admins can see and use it just fine.

Editors can only see it though, when I go to the forum page (as an Editor) /forums/forum/<forum-name>/ I get a “Page Not Found. The page you were looking for was not found.” Other forums / topics work just fine.

I’m running the members plugin mentioned above (the new one) and I have given editors the following caps (amongst other stuff):

read_hidden_forums (added this myself, just to be sure, because it was not in the list)

read_hidden_topics (added this myself, just to be sure, because it was not in the list)

read_hidden_replies (added this myself, just to be sure, because it was not in the list)

    read_private_forums

    read_private_topics

    read_private_replies

I also tried making a new role with those caps, but that doesn’t help either.

I’m probably overlooking something, anyone who can help?

    Take care,

    Pim

    Thanks for your information.

I am trying to install them for the plugin. Does that therefore mean none of the plugins on this site will work on my wordpress plugin version? If so, is there any way of adding the restrict user and remove post functionality?
