    Hi,

I am having exactly the same problem. I am also using the latest bbpress 2.5.4 and the newest version of wordpress. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    hello,

Since, I recently installed bbpress on my website: iristab.fr, I have a bug on my dashboard.
All extensions are no longer visible in the dashboard menu of wordpress, and more traces in the management of extensions.

Yet in the ftp site, all extensions are there, and the site is functioning normally.

I immediately thought an extension conflict, but disabling and removing bbpress, checking if it was deleted from the FTP and updating management extensions, and the bug persists.

I do not see how to restore the situation.
Thank you in advance for your help.

It looks like we just download any wordpress theme, and then change it by inserting a plugin to make a forum?

I don’t want anything but a forum, is there anyplace I can see what I’ll get if I follow through with this bbpress?

    thanks, Denise:)

so are you saying that with all plugins disabled apart from bbpress, and a default theme, and with resetting permalinks that you still get 404 errors?

If so all I can suggest is that you revert back a wordpress version to see if that fixes

    see

for quite a good video on how to do it

    and then come back

I was just looking for something like that, thank you so so much! 🙂
Hopefully WordPress has got a good fix for this on the upcoming version.

    Cheers!

I already switched to a default theme and it didn’t fix it. And I just did the plugins thing you suggested and it didn’t fix it either – I activated bbpress alone and the problem was still there. I’m going to re-install WordPress now, it’s quite possibly from their newest update, this new version caused me other problems as well

The replies simply disappeared after I moved its topic. I don’t think this happened with all topics – and all have been moved to a different forum which is now the main and only one – which is the weirdest thing! We have this topic that had at least a couple hundreds of replies and after I moved that topic to another forum, only 24 replies are available… I’ve used Tools to recount everything and nothing is happening. I’ve cleared the cache as well.

Any idea why this is happening and how could I fix this?

I’ve looked up here for a solution and found nothing… Please help!

    WordPress 4.0 running Montezuma theme.
    bbPress Version 2.5.4
    Site location:
    http://ecopsi.org/forums/

    Breadcrumbs
Including the theme I have three sets of breadcrumbs with the WP theme breadcrumbs at the top and which follow the forums well enough. Below are of course the two bbPress breadcrumbs. I want to hide both the bbPress breadcrumbs. The one immediately above the forums and the partial one on the right next to the search box.

I found some helpful things here

Layout and functionality – Examples you can use

    and here

    bbPress Styling Crib

Unfortunately the directions assume expertise beyond mine. I was able to do things like float [subscribe] to the right of the console but hiding the breadcrumbs per the directions didn’t work for some reason. My php kung fu isn’t much to brag about.

    Forums Name
A more experienced person helped me change the name [Forums] to [The EcoPsi Forums] but it only partially worked and didn’t change the name in the primary breadcrumbs at the top. It also didn’t change the name of the root of the forums which is still [Forums]. I want make the [Home] link at the root of the forums go away. It annoyingly tempts me to click thinking I’ll return to the root of the forums but instead takes me to root of the website.

Finally, how do I make the posts and the editor wider. Is that CSS controlled by my theme or bbPress? Any idea how long it’s going to be before Live Preview is ready for prime time?

I recently changed theme and seems that this impacts bbpress also. If I have a long title, it splits on two lines and the one bellow has not enough space:

    Hello,

    at the moment I have:

    website.ext: html pages
    website.ext/blog/: wordpress 4.0
    website.ext/forum/: bbpress 1.0.2

I managed to import my jurassic bbpress installation into wordpress via plugin, I just dont find a way to keep my forum on the current url.

It’s true i can change the slug in the settings, but it would just be a different name under the /blog/ directory like, for example, website.ext/blog/myforum/

My question is: is it possible to import my old forum via plugin from website.ext/blog/ and have the forum where it is now (website.ext/forum/)?

    Thank you very much.

    Hello,
I run a multisite installation and one of my users is having problems using bbPress. They’ve activated it but can’t see the Forums/Topics/Replies menu items nor the “Forums” options under Settings and Tools. I’ve been able to recreate this by creating a new site and enabling bbPress. Regular site-admins do not have access to bbPress but I (superadmin) can see it all.

How can I make it so if one post has the 5 most recent replies it doesn’t show that post 5x in my recent replies wordpress widget? I only want it to show once as it looks kinda dumb having the same topic posted 5x..

I have read a few of the previous posts and saw lots of interesting topics come by.

First I have to make a statement and a thank you.

Statement: BBPress is exactly what I need in a forum, yes I think it is forum software and forum software only.

Also it is a wordpress plugin, not a standalone CMS so I can not expect it to have all functions I wish for, but then there are plugins for most of them.

As a non-professional developer I had my share of problems after the first install, and coming from phpBB (only for 5 months there) I missed a lot of funtions mentioned in earlier posts that come standard in stand-alone forum CMS like IPBoard and VBulletin.

Those two (IPB VBull) have been my inspiration and I wanted a forum with similar functions, after trying phpBB for a few months, which I really enjoyed as a learning curve, I decided to give wordpress/bbpress/buddypress a try.

I have now been experimenting and learning the wordpress syntax for about 1 year, and have only one thing to say:

BBPress is the better forum software for me.

I can now make a perfect profile page.
    BBFacelook

I can have forums with the right hierarchy.
    BBFacelook

I can have all the extras that make other forum CMS cool thanks to some lightweight plugins, even attachments/images in posts can be made to look better then many other forums I visit.

Of course all is not perfect, I am not alone in hoping to see better image management, private albums, better TinyMCE editor, moderator functions/pages and the all important “like” function, but all in all BBP is just as functional as many high profile forums.

being a wordpress plugin makes BBPress modular, user friendly enough and highly functional not to forget absolutely FREE, besides a few hundered hours of brain pain.

Anyway, back to my theme (BBFacelook) development.

@robin-w I beg to differ a little, the behaviour seems to suggest it is something else going on.

It is only child forums that seem to be having this issue.
If a forum is is set up as a child of a forum (set as type category) the result is a 404 Error.
if that link is broken (the forum has been set to have no parent) then the forum loads.

The permalink doesn’t change ?forum=general query string is the same for both. This is with all plugins disabled and on different themes.

There must be something that works differently code wise between the two.
    Seems very odd.

It has also worked quite happily for the last year on default permalinks with the current plugin setup quite happily.
Something has changed the method in the way that it works, either through a bbpress release or WordPress 4.0 release

I also updated to WordPress 4.0. I’m not too sure if this has anything to do with it. I also disabled all plugins, but nothing changed it.

Seems that after the WordPress 4.0 update I can no longer create forum polls. All I get is
Polls only at Topic level please.

    Anyone experience this too?

    Hi Guys,
I just updated my wordpress to version 4.0 and all my bbpress forums are
returning a 404 page not found error.
I have tried everything I have found on here and nothing works.

All the topics are there in the dashboard, but when I want to view them — Not Found
Apologies, but the page you requested could not be found. Perhaps searching will help..

I disabled all my plugins and reactivated them one by one.
I tried changing my permalinks to all the settings and saving them/ switching back etc and nothing happened.

    http://straight-talking-golf.com/members/stg/

Trying to repair the forums and I get this:
You do not have sufficient permissions to access this page
P.S; I have full control over the server.

This has happened to me too. Populating the forums and update to wp 4.0 and bang, no forums to show.
Deactivated every single plug-in. Re-activated them one by one. No luck.

Very annoying getting an error 404 page not found on every single one. I even tried making a new forum and no luck either.

Everything is there in the dashboard, but work on the site has halted and causing serious problems.

I also tried all the old wordpress themes and nothing has changed.
Very annoyed with this. 7 hours of time totally wasted for a forum that was working perfectly.

I was installing bbPress on my website, using the Tools > Forums > Import forums. It was going okay until it reach converting replies. My forum have 52 600 messages in 18 000 subjects from 1200 users.
    – I visited the url mysite.com/forums and I see it well, but at first sights it seems there is no replies at all in every message.
    – Here is what I see in the yellow box.
