Wordpress: 4.1.1
bbPress: 2.5.6
Theme: underscore
I installed wordpress, bbpress and a bunch of other plugins in a local server with xampp. Everything worked fine.
After migrating the installation to a webspace with the plugin backupbuddy the following error occured “ERROR: Are you sure you wanted to do that?” when I want to create a topic or a reply in the frontend:

– in the backend/dashboard I can create topics, replys, forums etc – works fine
– in the frontend – no matter what user, admin or moderator the error occurs
– I used the tools > forums > repair and reset – nothing
– I deactivated all other Plugins – nothing
– Deleted and Reinstalled bbpress – nothing (Do I have to delete database table from bbpress manually? or are they gone with deleting the plugin bbpress?)
….the error still exists and I can’t post or reply.
I read some older post here in the forum, but there it seems to be different that the error comes up on local installed wp.
Any suggestions or solutions?
Would be really helpful. Thanks!
Hi
I use the latest version of wordpress and bbpress and the twenty twelve theme.
My users can not check the option “Notify me of follow-up replies via email” so that they receive a notification by email.
The same checkbox I see below this window.
Who can help me out.
Conrad
the link is http://www.saidao.org/wordpress
the forum link: http://www.saidao.org/wordpress/forums
BTW, actually I’m setting up a Chinese site….
the forum is too narrow due to the sidebar (it won’t be a problem in wordpress), it’s even worse if a topic has a lot of pictures (the pictures looks very narrow), is there any method to remove the sidebar in the forum totally but still keep it in wordpress? also, it’s better that the change won’t affect the view from smartphone.
please note i’m using the twenty-fifteen theme (I’ve created a child theme for it already).
Looking at the import folder in bbpress I don’t see any PHP-Fusion. Does anyone know of the method to extract users, threads and articles from Fusion to WP?
I found one in the tickets area. But they don’t seem to work.

The default WordPress Import/Export tools.
WordPress 3.5.2 (export/old site) -> WordPress 4.1.1 (import/new site)
They’re both running the latest version of bbPress. Is there another tool handy I can utilize?
when i said “i do not understand” i mean that i can not understand your broken English very well so that i could know the idea you were talking about.
i suggest maybe rewording what you mean a little better, or post a job at http://jobs.wordpress.net/ and hire someone that knows your native language well.
@gnulikeaboss
Topics will display the most recent activity
yes
but you can’t click the ‘Freshness’ text/link to have it SORT
bbPress does not have table sorting like this below example
http://codepen.io/jakestuts/details/tGpju
it doesnt even have a tabled layout anymore , its all lists
i bet someone could develop this for you though
go post a job at http://jobs.wordpress.net/
these two plugins are both compatible with bbPress and have exactly what you said.
https://wordpress.org/plugins/wp-ulike/
wordpress.org/plugins/rating-widget/
for support forums plugin i guess try this plugin instead
https://wordpress.org/plugins/buddy-bbpress-support-topic/
i looked more at Robins plugin and it seems it could do what you asked.
so forget my last response.
https://wordpress.org/plugins/bbp-private-groups/
and to create moderators you can create a new user and assign their forum role to moderator, or you can edit an existing users profile and change their forum role to moderator.
to edit a user go to the backend of WordPress
find the menu users , go to all users , search for your user , click the edit link to edit the specific user , then scroll down til you find forum role and click the drop-down and change the users forum role to moderator.
Your right i do not understand
i suggest you post a job at http://jobs.wordpress.net/
i dont know about manually managing users to a certain group.
There might be a workaround in paid memberships though, as long as the user roles the users acquire some certain capabilities to each one.
Like for example.
User A buys Bronze membership can only see forum A
User B buys Silver membership can post to forum A
User C buys Gold membership can post to forum A and forum B
that might work
i would suggest you go to http://jobs.wordpress.net/ and post a job and see if a developer can do this for you.
if there is a person who finds out they can just update this topic for you.
I just installed bbPress today (Version 2.5.6), and although I have been able to create new forums, every time I try to add a new topic I get “ERROR: Your topic cannot be empty.”
I am using the latest version of the Nirvana theme (version 1.0.5), which is supposedly compatible with bbPress.
I have searched some forums and tried adding the line “define(‘WP_MEMORY_LIMIT’, ‘128M’);” to wp-config.php, but still no luck.
I have just installed wordpress, so at the moment the only plugin I have installed is “TinyMCE Advanced” which facilitates font modification (size, underline, family, etc.) in the post editor, and even after deactivating this nothing changes.
Please help 🙂
No,
so I didnt have the plugin installed before, my plugins installed were , Easy Digital Downloads and EDD Extensions but this issue happend after the wordpress update from 3.9.3 to 4.1.1
It was very easy I just installed the plugin and I went to the Settings page of the User Role Editor there was only one button wich Asks to reset I clicked and Done. Now I dont have any issue.
ok, you should not change the default bbpress.css as this gets trashed by upgrades
you should put the bbpress.css file into your theme, and preferably a child theme, as otherwise theme upgrades will delete it.
See
functions-files-and-child-themes-explained
you could also use
https://wordpress.org/support/plugin/bbp-style-pack
which may well do all that you want, and isn’t lost when bbpress or themes are upgraded
@manavforum
again the same as for bbpress – but you can use the bbpress login widget or use
https://wordpress.org/plugins/bbp-style-pack/
Thanks,
I figuret it out Reseting Roles using the plugin User Role Editor
I’m happy to be new to this community. I’ve been using phpBB for forums for years, and recently decided to migrate over to bbPress. I recently installed all newest versions of WordPress and bbPress.
I have a medium sized phpBB forum with thousands of topics, so I need to preserve the users and topics.
My setup is a bit strange though – I am using aMember, and this membership program creates an integration between WordPress and phpBB. The result is the same users exist in phpBB as in WordPress.
So, when I attempted to import users and topics from phpBB into bbPress (using import tool that came with bbPress), the forums and topics did import but the users all had “imported_” before their user names. My guess is this was an attempt to prevent duplicate users.
Is there a method to import my forums and topics from phpBB into bbPress, and have the authors of topics and replies synced to the already existing users in WordPress? Thanks for any suggestions.
go to the WordPress backend in the menu settings > general
and then allow registration
Hi guys. I’m importing a bunch of topics and Replies from one WordPress installation to another (separate servers.)
The import looks like it’s going through perfectly, and the authors seemed to be assigned to the topics (see http://i.imgur.com/TICtdLN.png) – but even though the topics are tied to a forum attribute, they refuse to show up the actual forms page.
Here is a screenshot of the forums page – http://i.imgur.com/9JQZRqj.png – this is after I import all the topics and they show up within the admin panel with the the proper dropdowns tied to each one.
When I go to “Repair Forums” within Tools->Forums on the backend, recalculating removes the forums that the topics are tied to without remedying anything. Ultimately, it just makes it worse in the end.
Right now I’m hoping I don’t have to manually tie each topic to it’s proper forum since there’s so many that need to be added, so I was curious if anyone would have input on how to fix this import issue or point out what I’m doing wrong in the process.
do this first
General Issues
bbPress works with many themes and plugins, but it is impossible to test all combinations, and many issues are caused by conflicts with plugins and themes.
Therefore before posting, please test if your issue is resolved by the following
Plugins
Deactivate all but bbpress and see if this fixes. If it does, re-enable one at a time to see which is causing the error.
Themes
If plugins don’t pinpoint the problem, as a test switch to a default theme such as twentytwelve, and see if this fixes.
If the above produces an issue:
If it is a paid theme or plugin, please contact the authors for resolution.
If free, do ask here, we may know of workaround.
PLEASE tell us you have done the tests above when posting.
OTHER COMMON FIXES
The following will do no harm, so are worth a try and can fix some issues
Dashboard>settings>permalinks. Don’t change anything, but just click save. This resets the permalinks, and can solve some 404 errors.
Dashboard>tools>forums>repair forums and run one at a time. Useful if you’ve got some stuff not showing – doesn’t often fix but occasionally does.
but when you do update
i say make a backup of your site using this plugin
https://wordpress.org/plugins/updraftplus/
maybe even a couple of backups for a safe measure
1 to your email , 1 on your host , and 1 on your cpu.
then update WordPress.
okay, you want this forums style
you should hire a designer
