I don’t have a view on WordPress plugins for SMTP, but maybe some like ‘postman smtp’ might do caching or retry ?

Hello, I’m on WordPress 4.7.3 and BBPress Version 2.5.12. Site is still in development and not yet live.

I have a large number of forums (around 35k). Some of the forums work fine to post topics to, others are throwing a 502 error. The topics still post to the forum regardless of the error, but the page does not load upon clicking the “Submit” button. If I stop the page load almost immediately after posting a topic and re-navigate to the specific forum where I was posting the topic, or wait for the page load to throw the 502 error and then re-navigate, the topic always successfully posts regardless of the error.

I have spent hours with WP Engine support and after thorough investigation, disabling all plugins, switching the theme to a default theme, the server is still responding with a 502 and I’ve been told it’s an issue with BBPress. They told me to mention my database contains the following number of rows as it may be helpful:

Is there a way I can export all users (ie email addresses) that have posted to bbpress?

I am trying to put a list together, but I have so many users in wordpress that are not active in bbpress (either they signed up to comment on my regular wordpress comments, or they were spam registrations).

I would like to only get users that actually posted to anything in bbpress.

(I am fine with doing it via phpmyadmin if someone can direct me)

No, I didn’t….

I have everything imported (which took along 8 hours), but organizing it all is real pain (especially since having hidden forums slows down wordpress). So, I am deciding what to delete. However, there are even more challenges there as well as there is no way to easily delete bulk posts.

I’d also like to keep my users post counts.

I am a little overwhelmed as processes such as deleting posts/forums take way to long to do.

Should i start over in 2.6 beta 2?

Just an FYI on this that I found out. I have a new install of WordPress 4.7.3 and bbPress 2.5.12 and I had the same issue. I was running PHP 7.1 and I got this same error. I dropped it to 5.6 and it worked. It also seems to work with PHP 7.

For my WordPress website I use third party SMTP server with a limit on number of recipients. Is there any plugin that I can use to split messages to limit maximum emails in BCC?

For example, server limit is 50, so if I have 60 subscribers to a forum or topic, I want server to send two emails. One with 50 and the other one with 10 emails.

I got this problem, I use premium theme the7 and recently I installed plugin bbPres because we need a forum.

everything works fine except for one thing. Icons in menu for reply R missing. I tried everything.

We have tried many plugins on our website which uses bbPress forum some produce incomplete pdf’s of the normal pages but none produce pdf’s of the forum pages. We simply want to be able to create a pdf of the page as we see it formatted on the screen. Is this possible?

I view this from the opposite direction @ljmac, bbPress is one of the leading, if not forerunner plugin on pushing the boundaries of WordPress’ user roles, the changes WordPress made benefit bbPress greatly. It also wasn’t an easy decision to make, we’d wanted a couple of changes in WordPress for a few years now, now we got a change that we wanted, we just had to make the decision as to if we should break back compatibility, and we concluded the pros outweighed the cons.

To answer your question though, yes bbPress 2.5.11 should work on WordPress 3.7

p.s. WordPress development has nothing to do with Automattic, Automatic host WordPress sites on WordPress.com. WordPress and WordPress.org is an open source project with many contributors world wide.

I guess this is an example of why I don’t upgrade WordPress – in order to add some feature that will probably be of little use to the vast majority of users, they break compatibility with what will probably be a boatload of plug-ins (given how fundamental this change is). Well done Automatic.

Oh BTW, would 2.5.11 work okay with 3.7?

WordPress 4.7 changed the way that the logged-in user is loaded. More specifically, it changed the execution point in the code, in such a way, that bbPress needed a change to meet the new requirement.

Hi, I have added the shortcode on my main forum page http://www.apis.de/forum to implement the Prisna Google Translator. This displays a drop-down list of languages to choose from. The problem is that it only translates that page and if i click on a forum topic, it reverts back to the website language.
The advice from Prisna is to create a WordPress category for the forum. But I can’t do this, as BBpress doesn’t seem to provide this option on the topic pages.
Any ideas?

Before I begin, please don’t lecture me on why I should always use the latest WordPress version – let’s just say that I’m very well aware of all the usual arguments, but I’ve got a mountain of much better reasons why I don’t want to ‘upgrade’. And 3.7+ get all security updates anyway.

Anyway, I am currently successfully running 2.5.10 on WordPress 3.7.19. In the release notes for 2.5.11 you updated the minimum requirements from 3.6 to 4.2, and on the plug-in page specifies 4.7! Why does such a minor point release require such a huge jump in requirements? The only issue I have with 2.5.10 is the 3.8+-style icons (which would only require a minimum of 3.8 anyway).

Moving forums to a subdomain, the user database is shared with main website but that’s all.

Trying to get forums moved in to a clean install but I’ve been trying for many hours with no success.

have used Tools->export for forums, topics, replies.
Then Tools->import on the new site.

The admin panel forums area shows all the topics correctly, forum name, amount of replies, names, etc.
The topics area also looks correct, names, amount of replies etc.
The replies area show which topic they are a reply to.

But when I go to the front end, none of it is connected. No topics in forums, no replies to topics. But the forum and the topics do say “X amount of topics in this forum” etc.

Try the “Repair forums” and do those 1 at a time and it just makes things worse.
Then nothing is linked, topics have “no forum”, and replies have “no topic” etc.
Any help please?

P.S. Regarding importing large files, if anyone is having problems:
I had to split the xml files as despite all my php.ini maximum file upload size, maximum script memory, and httpd.conf timeouts being set REALLY high (like 500MB and 1 hour!!) I just cannot complete the imports of files 50MB. So used this and now they are importing when split under 5MB ->
