You’re not snoooping around enough. bbPress development is still occuring, just on a much smaller scale than WordPress. In the past couple months we’ve had a couple alpha version of 1.0, a 1.0 release, 1.0.1 release, 1.0.2 release, 0.9.0.6 release and a new theme at bbpress.org.

You can always watch for activity here:

    https://trac.bbpress.org/

Or subscribe to the bbDev mailing list if you really want the nuts and bolts:

    https://lists.bbpress.org/mailman/listinfo/bbdev

What versions of bbPress and WordPress did you integrate?

Some progress. According to my geek, it seems the installation process reset a variable showing all posts as unpublished. He reinstalled WordPress and did some tweaking of the modifications bbPress did to the database, so now at least we have the archive back and all the old posts are visible. The front page seems to be working as well.

However, I still can’t publish any new posts.

    We’re working on it.

Well, I looked through it again and there’s not really any conflicting elements in the CSS that match the WordPress CSS, so what could the problem be?

    Hello friends.

I am using WordPress since lst 2 year has I must say it just AWSOME. I have just installed bbpress a week back just wondering that bbpress has many thing missing as a complete forum.

    1. Moderator. Any user post a topic it must not be published without activation by moderator. I tried the plugin”moderator suite” but its nt working.

    2. Number of view: Each post in the forum must display the number of times it has been read. I Could not find any suitable plugin for this.

If I am wrong some where, please guide me for the same

This solved it, thanks a lot!

I created the ./forum page, plus a subpage ./forum/bb-admin in wordpress, for some reason admin did not work immediately. After taking a snapshot of the VM the bb admin function works now, strange. I assume some caching issue.

Thanks for the great product, I can already say this is the forum I have been looking for!

Then you can create a PAGE in wordpress called Forums and it will link to the forums folder automatically.

You have bbpress using the wordpress AND the bbpress css?-

rename your bp folder to forum and then create a PAGE in wordpress that says forum. If you have a folder named forum wordpress will transfer the page control over to it and when you click the link to that page it will go to the forum.

I said, I would do it for free. That would be an optional donation if you appreciated my time and work.

You need to make a page in wordpress called forums that will allow you to access the /forums directory.

Thank you! Install worked now, but there is still a directory problem (I did some browsing in this forum but did not find a specific answer)

I have WP and BB installed in separate directories (WP and BP) under htdocs.

The WordPress blog address is ctubeslabs.com

At bb install I chose ctubeslabs.com/forum as the forums address

Now, when I go to ctubeslabs.com/forum WP handles it and responds with ‘not found’.

At http://ctubeslabs.com/bp/ I get the (unstyled) forum homepage without content.

When I manually type in ctubeslabs.com/bp/bb-admin it redirects to ctubeslabs.com/forum

So missing a clear concept how it should work I am a bit stuck again. For example what is the intended mechanism to make WP ignore the bb url and let bb handle it?

    Thanks again for any help!

I did an integrated install of bbPress today (WordPress ver 2.8.2) and it immediately messed up my main site. It deleted me as a user and I had to log back in as Admin to fix that problem. My front page went crazy and is still not fixed, and most of the time my site doesn’t appear at all when I type in the url.

I’ve removed the folder containing the bbPress files, but that hasn’t solved the problem. There are no bb_ files to remove from the database. Is there anything else that needs to be changed back?

I’m pretty sure they’re fine. I think it has something to do with my WordPress CSS though because they didn’t do that before I added in the WordPress functions.

    #77701

I’m assuming you have it like this:

    /site1/wordpress files
    /site2/wordpress files

    and not /site1/wordpress/wordpress files

    Right?

If so, just put it the site1 folder as a ‘forums’ folder and you should be fine.

    Hi

I have just registered as I am looking to add a forum to my wordpress website and need some basic advice.

I have read a number of posts on the subject and also the installation instructions, integration instructions and FAQ’s and I am getting very confused.

I guess I need to know where in my directory I install the bbPress. Do I have to install it in the root file, or in one of the WP files? My problem is that I have a number of websites, each using a different install of wordpress as the basis of the website, within my root file.

Will an installation of bbPress at root level affect all of the websites?

Or do I install bbPress in one of the WP folders relevant to the specific website?

How do I create a link from the specific website – do I simply create a new page on the blog called “Forum” and use the url address for the page within the bbPress installation at some point. I guess this might become clear to me as I progress with the installation, but not knowing where to put the installation at this stage I am unaware, so a heads up of what to expect will help.

    Thanks.

I’m afraid that we don’t understand what you mean? You want the 1.0.* admin management to go back to the .9 version’s admin? Unfortunately that is not gonna happen as they are working to make the admin management identical to wordpress.

    Hello

I have installed bbPress 1.0.2 today here:

    http://www.newlondonsingers.org.uk/blog/wp-content/bbpress

Step 1 & 2 of the install did not have any errors, but step 3 said could not create Forum

I selected options to integrate WordPress (v 2.6.3) which is here

    http://www.newlondonsingers.org.uk/blog/

    I also have the plugin Members-only installed (v 0.6.7)

Am using PHP 4 and MSSQL 4.1.22

    I can’t access bbPress – assume I go to :

    http://www.newlondonsingers.org.uk/blog/wp-content/bbpress

which then goes to here: http://www.newlondonsingers.org.uk/blog/wp-content/bbpress/bb-admin/install.php

    – says Oh dear!

    bbPress is already installed.

Perhaps you meant to run the upgrade script instead?

    Please can you help?

    Many thanks

followed the step by step BBpress installer. got close but not close enough. Here’s what it’s telling me. I understand the the bb-config was not writable, I know how to change file permissions. My question is: how / where do I go to manually update this info?

Okay, so I’ve integrated bbPress with my WordPress DB and theme. I’ve customized it quite a bit but I’m still having one very annoying problem.

    http://scrawlfx.com/forum/topic/welcome-to-the-forums

See that huge space on every response? Why does that happen? How do I remove it? I’ve looked in the CSS but have found nothing. Please help me out.

I am having problems with the cookies and login integration part. I followed the guide yet nothing seems to help. I edited both configure files and installed the plugin into wordpress everything seems good in the back system yet i cant get the user login part to work together.

My site is http://bloggerhouse.com/ and the forum is http://bloggerhouse.com/forum

Any help to getting this to work would really be appreciated thanks!

    Hello,

I saw a somewhat similar post on here about integrating bbpress into wordpress pages, but what I want to do is relatively simpler than that.

Basically all I want to do is to “embed” a given bbpress forum into a static webpage. I’d like to not have the top header and all of the navigational links appear, but I’ll take what I can get for now ; P

Using the <php include> tag I was able to embed a forum into a webpage, but the problem is that the area I want to embed into is 500px wide. The bbpress forum is inside of that area but also spills out onto the rest of the page. The php include is being placed into a <div> area and I want the width fixed while the height changes based on how much content is inside it.

    My code looks like:

    <?php include(‘http://example.com/forums/forum.php?id=12&#8217;); ?>

I’m sure the best way to do what I want would be something like:

    <?php include(‘../forums/forum.php?id=12’/main_forum); ?>

    but I’m not too sure.

    Any ideas?

    Thank you!
