    Yeah, I think the localhost bit might be your problem. I’m hoping soon bbPress will get an automatic installer like the newer WordPress has. That would save everyone a ton of support questions effort I feel.

    Hi all, I am trying to install bbpress with my wordpress blog. I get a 500 Internal Server Error was encountered everytime i try to run the install.php. My config.php looks like the following

    ?php

    // ** MySQL settings ** //

    define(‘BBDB_NAME’, ‘****’); // The name of the database

    define(‘BBDB_USER’, ‘******’); // Your MySQL username

    define(‘BBDB_PASSWORD’, ‘******”); // …and password

    define(‘BBDB_HOST’, ‘mysql’); // 99% chance you won’t need to change this value

    // Change the prefix if you want to have multiple forums in a single database.

    $bb_table_prefix = ‘bb_’; // Only letters, numbers and underscores please!

    // If your bbPress URL is http://bbpress.example.com/forums/ , the examples would be correct.

    // Adjust the domain and path to suit your actual URL.

    // Just the domain name; no directories or path. There should be no trailing slash here.

    $bb->domain = ‘http://prosperworldloans.com’;

    $bb->path = ‘/blog/bbpress/’;

    // What are you going to call me?

    $bb->name = ‘New bbPress Site’;

    // This must be set before running the install script.

    $bb->admin_email = ‘admin@prosperworldloans.com’;

    // Set to true if you want pretty permalinks.

    $bb->mod_rewrite = false;

    // The number of topics that show on each page.

    $bb->page_topics = 30;

    // A user can edit a post for this many minutes after submitting.

    $bb->edit_lock = 60;

    // Your timezone offset. Example: -7 for Pacific Daylight Time.

    $bb->gmt_offset = 0;

    // Change this to localize bbPress. A corresponding MO file for the

    // chosen language must be installed to bb-includes/languages.

    // For example, install de.mo to bb-includes/languages and set BBLANG to ‘de’

    // to enable German language support.

    define(‘BBLANG’, ”);

    // Your Akismet Key. You do not need a key to run bbPress, but if you want to take advantage

    // of Akismet’s powerful spam blocking, you’ll need one. You can get an Akismet key at

    // http://wordpress.com/api-keys/

    $bb->akismet_key = false; // Example: ‘0123456789ab’

    // The rest is only useful if you are integrating bbPress with WordPress.

    // If you’re not, just leave the rest as it is.

    $bb->wp_table_prefix = ‘wp_’;

    $bb->wp_siteurl = ‘http://www.prosperworldloans.com’;

    /* Stop editing */

    define(‘BBPATH’, dirname(__FILE__) . ‘/’ );

    require_once( BBPATH . ‘bb-settings.php’ );

    require_once(‘../wp-config.php’);

    ?>

    who knows…maybe CalendarPress will be coming soon. I joke, but really, I would try integrating wordpress and bbpress, and then using the event calendar plugin for wordpress. It is not full-screen unfortunately, but it is a very good calendar for keeping track of events.

    Searching hotscripts brings up 261 results! ! ! Not sure (as I have never used one before) which one would be best for you, but until someone gets you on the straight and arrow it is a place to start searching!

    As well, sometimes they have these kinds of discussions on WP.org forums:

    I just installed bbpress and went through all the steps to integrate it with WordPress and so far everything is fine except that the times are screwed up. For example, the freshness of all posts is -1 (that’s negative 1) even though the posting times are perfect. That seems to be it and I can’t fix it. Any ideas?

    If some strings are not translated it’s cause they are missing to be included nto the internationalization functions, and this is a bug, You can open a ticket on trac about untraslated strings so they will be corrects annd included into pot. file.

    For info about internationalizion and stuff you can refer to WordPress COdex searching for internationalizazion and localization, the info you will find there arcan be applied to bbpress also.

    I have an existent wordpress install. I successfully installed bbpress and have the db pulling from wp install for the users. Now I want to try and wrap my wp around bbpress utilizing my existent header and footer in wordpress.

    bbpress – v0.74

    wordpress – 2.0.6

    I have been searching everywhere looking where to start but alot say I need to set ('WP_BB', true); in the (bbpress) config.php. In this version of bbpress, it’s not in there. Am I missing something?

    In the default template’s register.php, I replaced the registration form with a message and link and it seems to have worked just fine. ( http://www.bandtr.com/wordpress/bbpress/ ). If there are some other factors at work that I am not aware of and need to know about, please let me know.

    Nope….bbpress-integration goes in WP and wordpress-integration goes in bbPress! ;)

    I like it, although at the bottom, “fueled with wordpress” that would be fueled with bbpress wouldn’t it?

    Thanks Vaelrith. :) Yeah, It’s one of those “things” that I need to change up on theme. I’ll fix that up here soon.. ;) :) Really, I need to fix up the blog theme’s footer too then..

    this is a great looking theme, you’ve integrated it nicely with the blog :D Are you going to make it a public theme? It’s quite sexy ;p

    Thanks skrimpy. :) Um, I might release it to the public then, however, at the moment it’s a slopped together type job though sigh. I basically copied/pasted the blog’s style.css informations right into the bbPress stylesheet.. and so forth.

    When I get some more time here, hopefully soon, I’ll make a public release of the theme. ;) :) As I’m sure others running the WordPress Gathering theme, might want to have it.. ;) :)

    Thanks for the nice comments.. ;) :)

    Hi,

    bbPress Turkish version is ready, we’ve published in our site; WordPress Türkiye:

    http://www.wordpress-tr.com/bbpress-turkce-surum/

    #53257

    That’s a WordPress Plugin, not a bbPress plugin. It should only be installed in your WordPress plugins dir.

    I’m still in the process of doing things with it, so, if you find things quirky, please be patient… ;) :)

    Anyway, I tried to get the blog’s theme around the forums themselves. I used the blog’s imagery, blog’s style.css codes right in the original bbPress stylesheet.. and so forth. I also used the WordPress.org/support/ user profile layout basically..

    Well, what you think?

    I’ve already posted this to the list, and I’ve also checked that disabling the one in the blog, stops this from happening. ;) :) However though, the plugin won’t work and do what’s it supposed too! Anyway.. on with the B.S…

    Fatal error: Cannot redeclare bb_int_set_current_user() (previously declared in /home/mypath/myuser/public_html/wp-content/plugins/bbpress-integration.2.php:14) in /home/mypath/myuser/public_html/forums/my-plugins/bbpress-integration.2.php on line 13

    I got this error after uploading, and activating the newest bbpress-integration.2.php plugin.

    I uploaded the two too:

    my-plugins/ directory

    wp-content/plugins/ directory

    Please note though: I’m using the full path to my wp-blog-header.php file, in the forum’s config.php file.

    I also have the following for near footer of the config.php if it make’s a difference:

    $bb->wp_table_prefix = ‘wp_’; // WordPress table prefix. Example: ‘wp_’;

    $bb->wp_home = ‘false’; // WordPress – Options->General: Blog address (URL) // No trailing slash. Example: ‘http://example.com’

    $bb->wp_siteurl = ‘false’; // WordPress – Options->General: WordPress address (URL) // No trailing slash. Example: ‘http://example.com’

    // Use the following line *only* if you will be loading WordPress everytime you load bbPress.

    define(‘WP_BB’, true);

    I’m doing this, to be able to use some of my blog’s wp functions, for wrapping the blog’s theme around my forums..

    Is there a way to work around this, or..? Thanks in advanced! ;)

    Hmm, I don’t think any bbpress functions are loaded when your WP is loaded is it? If not, then you’ll have to build the link from scratch. Link building in bbpress is one of those things you just gotta figure out from doing it a few times (and staring at core code).

    Since you’re doing it specifically for your forums, it doesn’t necessarily have to be in plugin form (which is preferable for me since I never made WP plugins). So I would do something like this:

    Look at the code used to get the logged in user’s name.

    Get the ID of that user anyway you can (you can search the db for the username or use a wp function that I don’t know about).

    Start the link formation like $link = “http://zenhelix.us.to/forums/profile/”

    Then you can either add the user ID directly to the end using a regular expression ( add a .$userid to the end of the previous line) or just do $link += $userid;

    Setup the link with the a href and all that junk.

    I wish I could give you more specific code, but like I said, I’ve never done much WP coding.

    haha, I’ll probably think of something else I’d like pretty soon. And, by the way, while we’re on this topic of wordpress and bbpress, on my site at the top it says “Hello $user_id”, I’d like for that to link to the forums profile for the user. If you don’t understand, go to my site and look at the top right. You’d have to actually login for it to say your username, otherwise it just says “Hello !”

    I didn’t know jack about much of this stuff 2 months ago. I had programmed before, but nothing super special (I did an RSS parser for me and my friends’ main webpage, rayd.org). I just kinda got ambitious with this stuff.

    Everything you need to know to do this stuff is in the core code (I’ve pulled so many stylistic and methodological things from preexisting code) and php.net. The only thing you need beyond that is ambition. Mine pretty much peeked when I did Private Messages. I can’t think of another project that will require that much work (though I’m sure there are, I just can’t think of any for now). :)

    hmm… I really need to learn how to make my own plugins so I won’t have to rely on others to do everything…

    I never get annoyed :)

    I’ve been so busy at work I haven’t had a chance to update my PM plugin yet. It’s still next on my docket. I’ll add your request to my list of things to do.

    Last time I sat down to work on it, I was having trouble adding a user search feature… so there’s still that ;)

    Will do, I check artentfrost’s forums about every day for a new plugin :) I think he might get annoyed with my constant requesting and never posting anything else…

    BTW, good work on those plugins artentfrost :)

    Since the paths of where to pull the information for the PM plugin are hardcoded for bbPress installs, I don’t know if it is possible. Maybe drop a line to Ardentfrost at:
