In reply to: Import from vBulletin 3.6.5
Can you export vBulletin over to a phpBB format? That seems to be the best common thread to imort into bbPress from forum packages that don’t have importers written yet. There is a great phpBB importer here in the forums that might be able to bridge the gap!

In reply to: Installing with IP SubdomainThe only place that you specify the domain of your bbPress installation is in the config.php file. If you change over to a domain name, you just change the path in config.php and you should be up and running again. As for installing with an IP address, I haven’t tried it and wonder if anyone else has tried. Might leave it for another to answer.
Integrating with wordpress requires a little work, but if you click on the ‘documentation’ tab in the forum, there is a detailed description of getting it working with the same users and cookies from wordpress. The integration of style has a couple of posts here on the front page that seem to work well. Integrating will not screw up WP at all since the ‘integration’ is really having bbPress use the WP users and metatable in the database and has no real effect on it.

In reply to: Rss feed for latest topicsTag them all if they are different authors. Same author, I usually do a search and get them anyways. I see that you did Tag it and we stopped another 15 messages of spam past akismet! Thanks

In reply to: Rss feed for latest topicsWhen you see those, tag it “modlook” so I don’t miss it! Sometimes it happens….

In reply to: Call to undefined function:Excellent Kenneth! Welcome back and great job on that template!

In reply to: Rss feed for latest topicsI can’t get it to work with safari or firefox either on your site. Have you changed any of the files in your template that deal with the feed?

In reply to: WordPress and PHPBBI used phpbb for about 4 years and once I created a test site of bbPress, I converted over all my forums to bbPress and continue to help support a great product. As far as I can tell, almost all the ‘bloated’ features of phpBB that people love have now become plugins for bbPress, so if you like all or most of those features, you will love bbPress.

In reply to: *seamless* wordpress integrationMost of the *seemless* integration is really done by creating a template in bbPress that looks the same as wordpress using the existing theme and modifying the CSS style sheet to be the same as your wordpress theme. There are people that have managed to get bbPress inside their wordpress theme, but I only know of those that have failed and will wait for them to tell you how they did it.
If you copy your /bb-templates/kakumei/ folder to your desktop and then play around with changing the theme. Most people edit the style.css, header.php, footer.php, front-page.php for starters. Then just create a new folder on your server root of /my-templates/ and then upload the files to a new folder /my-templates/mytheme/ or whatever. Then activate that theme in your admin area.
The way bbPress works is that it will use the files from your new template and the original theme files if it doesn’t exist. That way, if you make a drastic change to any file and you want to start over, just delete that file from your template folder and it will use the original again.
There are a few threads in this forum where people have gone further into detail, but that is how this site is created and others like mine with http://trentadams.ca and http://onvertigo.com looking the same even though they are on different servers.
Hope that helps.

In reply to: Plugin: Move ItI see you have SVN access now, so this should be out here right away! good idea for a plugin!

In reply to: Plugin: Say My NameVery nice! I will test it out for you and report back if I see any problems!

In reply to: Code_trick made pluggableIn reply to: importing bb_users into wp_usersThe ID’s not matching up would be the problem. Wittmania’s fix would have it so they stay attibuted to the right users. I have changed users in the past in the database. It sucks. Topic, Post, Users, etc. Too hard with many users, but I did change them with 25 users. Just takes too much time in my opinion!

In reply to: Line return not workingThe plugin system is actually now implemented in the TRAC version of bbPress and will be available in the upcoming 1.0 version (and no, I don’t know when that is for sure!

In reply to: Hack: bb replies as wp comments; using bb API?In reply to: tuzhak !== bozo; tuzhak === link-farmer;Sorry, I was just trigger happy….force of habit….

In reply to: How to PERMANENTLY delete a post?It is strange isn’t it. I guess it is the ‘gmail’ approach of never really deleting anything. I believe someone put up a TRAC ticket on this issue for 1.0’s release though.
Trent
In reply to: MathML and BBpressMy guess would be that it would be in /bb-includes/formatingfunctions.php somewhere, but I am not sure….

In reply to: Hack: bb replies as wp comments; using bb API?I just noticed this thread fel64! Brilliant! The code above should be edited correctly now!

In reply to: tuzhak !== bozo; tuzhak === link-farmer;I don’t mind if you go into this, no. A topic with a username referenced as a bozo is asking for problems if that user is not indeed a spammer. Forums sometimes are not a ‘pretty’ place and this is definetely the case over at wordpress.com. Ultimately, it is mdawaffe, Matt or I that has to deal with the issues in these forums and we all look at the modlook tag, so it is easier for us to be alerted to these disucssions when we don’t have a chance to read “all” threads.
It seems that you and Sam were most likely 100% right that the user may be at fault here, but realize that if you are not right on this one it can cause someone hard feelings. Discussion is obviously a great thing and encouraged and closing the thread, while premature, is damage control. Clear as mud?
In reply to: tuzhak !== bozo; tuzhak === link-farmer;Sam I never read the entire blog and didn’t realize that is was a link farm site. There is no bot that posts personal replies even if they sometimes seem out of place and in my experience there are sometimes comments that are made that are irrelevant, but not in vain. This might not be that case though if they were trolling for links.
@fel64, I locked the thread because if the user is not a bozo, there is no need for further flaming and the disucssion should be over. In this case they most likely were a bozo and I appreciate you and Sam for bringing this up and using the modlook tag

In reply to: LaTex supportMdawaffe actually added the support for this in wordpress.com recently and should be able to fire something up for bbPress. Maybe he will see this forum post and do something on it!
