Formatting toolbar disappeared

Published on June 24th, 2014 by Deamion

I have the same issue with Mozilla based browsers (e.g. Firefox, Ice Weasel, etc.).
I have the same website on two different servers, one works with Firefox, the other doesn’t.

The one that works is hosted on a Windows Server with IIS 8.5, the one that doesn’t work is on a Linux server (not sure which distro) with Apache.

Google Chrome, and IE 11 show the toolbar on either server so it seems to be the combination of Mozilla and Linux/Apache.

Forum subscription subscribes to all forums

Published on June 23rd, 2014 by Lumartist

Hello everyone,

right now I am working on my own theme, and I am having a “small” problem. After I subscribe to a certain forum and check my subscribed forums on the buddypress profile page, I am subscribed to alle available forums, and not the one I actualy subscribed to in the first place.

I did check all of my template files, like content-single-forum.php and loop-singleforum.php, or user-subscriptions.php, but I couldn’t find anything unusual. The link, generated with the subscription link seems to be okay too, compared with other forums.

http://www.website.net/forum/forum-category/forumname/?action=bbp_subscribe&forum_id=9&_wpnonce=c557e237e8

I did even compare my files to other forum styles.

I am not quite sure where this is coming from. Maybe someone had a similar problem before? Any ideas?

Thanks for your help in advance!

Capability needed for subscription notification

Published on June 22nd, 2014 by roysmyth

If a user who has capability “participate” subscribes to a forum and then is demoted to capability “spectate”, will the user continue to receive notifications?

I run a membership site. When membership expires, the user continues to be a member but with limited capabilities. I want the user to stop receiving subscription notifications.

login fails and no html formatting options

Published on June 22nd, 2014 by Sankalan

I am new to bbPress. I am sure many people may have asked these questions but I really cannot find the appropriate thread. So any help will be greatly appreciated.

1. The login widget on the sidebar is not working. Once I put the credentials and hit ‘Log In’ button, all I am getting is a white screen! I really cannot see a way out. Can anyone help? Please.

2. Forum posting is supposed to allow html formatting as mentioned in the settings (Dashboard >> Settings >> Forums) but I don’t see any formatting options as I can currently see here in this support forum as I am typing. I just used the strong tag using the html buttons tab here. I will like to have the same option showing on my website. Why are this html options not showing at all on my website? Can anyone help me? I will really appreciate your help.

Problem with shortcode (tag cloud) in sidebar widget

Published on June 22nd, 2014 by Morgensonne

Hi again,

shortly before I can finally go online with my WP+bbpress, there is a problem with the shortcode in a widget: The tag cloud in sidebar widget is not displayed.

Here in the forum I found the following tip:

To allow shortcodes in sidebar widgets, write in an empty functions.php file the following code und put this file into your child-theme-folder:

<?php
add_filter('widget_text', 'do_shortcode');
?>

After saving the file, you can now add the shortcode 404 admin akismet alpha Anonymous avatar bbpress breadcrumbs buddypress bug cookies css custom database email error Forum forums freshness getting started help htaccess i18n import install installation integration keymaster language localization login menu Moderation mod_rewrite notifications Page pagination password permalink Permalinks permissions PHP phpBB plugin plugins post posts private problem profile redirect register registration replies reply roles RSS search shortcode Shortcodes sidebar spam Sticky tags template templates theme themes TinyMCE topic topics translation upgrade URL user username users widget WordPress wpmu in sidebar widgets.

Unfortunately the tag cloud is not shown.
What did I do wrong?

Thank you very much for help says

Search pages and Profile pages do not appear in breadcrumbs

Published on June 22nd, 2014 by Mareva

Hi,

(Maybe it’s a normal bbpress behavior but) I wonder that any search page nor user profile page appear in breadcrumbs.
As an example :
1- I stand in the “Forum A” page. Breacrumbs show : Home / Forums / Forum A
2- I launch the search (using the search widget or not : it doesn’t change anything)
3- In the result page, breadcrumbs only show : Home /

I meat the same issue with profiles pages :
1- I am in any topic page of the Forum A. Breacrumbs show : Home / Forums / Forum A / Topic-name
2- I click on the name of the topic author.
3- In the profile page, breadcrumbs show : Home /

In both cases I can’t use breadcrumbs to go back to any forum page. Not so practical!

Is there anything I should do to keep complete “ways” in breadcrumbs?

Regards

Example forums that use plugins for images

Published on June 22nd, 2014 by steheap

I’m new to bbPress (haven’t started using it yet) but I’m realizing that to show inline photos in a post, I need to use a plugin.

Are there any live sites out there that have inline images in posts that I can look at to give me an idea of what is possible with bbPress and image plugins?

What is the most popular plugin for allowing upload and display of images?

Showing "Only" related topics under Forums

Published on June 22nd, 2014 by sepid

We have installed all the latest versions based on Genesis framework.
I don’t know why visiting every forum (concept) shows all created topics and not only related topics.

Did we set up something wrong?

It should shows only one topic when we go down to forum.

Forum Settings Viewable By Spectator

Published on June 21st, 2014 by joeyaberle

I just noticed that spectators and even blocked users, can see the Forum Settings page on the WordPress Dashboard. This is an issue because they can then go and change any of the settings of the forum.

Has anyone else noticed this (or am I just crazy) and is there a solution to this?

bbpress topic and reply box going over screen

Published on June 21st, 2014 by yoshimitsu1234

When i to create a new topic or reply to existing one my site forum, the reply box goes out of the screen and a part of the box is cut along with some text.
Here is an example http://tinypic.com/r/1z4yaef/8
I do it on my Nexus 4 and content goes out but when i re size my desktop chrome window to same resolution or even lower to 480 x 800 this does not happen. But when i re-size the desktop window to 320 x 480 this happens.
Is there any way to prevent this and make it responsive?
