@DevArthran There has since been another update and unless you downloaded the version you are using from the ‘SVN Trunk’ you wont have the latest patches.

You can download an updated version of bbp-user-functions.php (4141) which has worked for a few others it will be in the next update of bbPress.

It would also be great to get some feedback on the vBulletin import as we have had very little feedback thus far from anyone migrating from vBulletin to bbPress.

Check the Codex https://codex.bbpress.org/ for the latest docs and to get you up and running please see:

    ‘Getting Started with bbPress’ https://codex.bbpress.org/getting-started-with-bbpress/

If you would like to help us get the docs updated please login with the same credentials you use here on bbpress.org to https://codex.bbpress.org/wp-admin and help out however you can.

Tanya, I’m in! It’s the only feature I’ve missed since converting to bbpress from SMF.

But it is the most important, I think. And so do the users in my forum as well. It is the easiest way to keep updated.

Most users want a quick overview of what has been going on. And not just the latest postings, but the postings they have not yet read.

    Let’s do this!

I updated to 2.1.2 and now my forums are just a page. Was working fine before the upgrade.

    Any ideas?

I have a website at http://rockwareit.net. I am using CheerApp, which was built to utilize the bbpress forum structure. Everything was fine, until I updated to bbpress, v 2.0, I think – not exactly sure, but it was the update before this last one. Now, with the new version activated, I get a fatal error:

Fatal error: Call to undefined function royal_login() in /home/content/31/8787131/html/wp-content/themes/cheerapp/header.php on line 69

I have attempted to remove/edit problematic code on line 69, to no avail.

I also can not seem to find a proper older version of bbpress, all the links to older versions are broken….can someone please help either with a fix to the issue, or an older version of bbpress?

    Thanks!

The font size used to be fine in my forums until i updated bbpress, and now its tiny compared to the rest of the sites font! Im pretty sure the only way to change the font size is to edit the CSS, so could someone please tell me where in my ftp client can i find the file i need to edit, and also what part fo that file i need to change? Any help would be greatly appreciated i created this site as part of work experience, but i want to keep it as a hobby.

Sorry, but all three of your the links you referenced are referring to the old stand alone version of bbPress, we are trying to get all the docs updated but as some still use the 1.x versions we still need them though I know it becomes rather confusing if you hit a link relating to that old version.

bbPress 2.1 has built-in theme support, if you want customize bbPress to closer look like your WordPress theme please see https://codex.bbpress.org/theme-compatibility/ to get started.

The codex is currently setup with a ‘context’ category that lets us split the docs between developer and user.
    https://codex.bbpress.org/context/developer/ & https://codex.bbpress.org/context/user/

Building on that already existing theory as we reply to questions in the forum we should start tagging them appropriately ‘user’ or ‘developer’ and thus being able to follow each tag.
    https://bbpress.org/forums/topic-tag/user/ & https://bbpress.org/forums/topic-tag/developer/

Should we also add other tags like ‘faq’ or ‘addtofaq’ or something along those lines so we can add tags to be able to follow topics we think need docs/updated docs/better docs and priority of that need etc etc… Suggestions?

Is ‘User” to dis-ambiguous in the ‘docs’ vs ‘end user username’ context for bbPress though?

(If we were able to edit the current topic tags we could quickly tag the past couple of weeks topics, als that will have to wait a little while longer)

    Hello,
A few weeks ago, after I updated WP and bbpress, I noticed that I couldn’t see post content in the forums any more, nor could I see and information in the columns labeled “freshness” “voices”, etc.

I’ve finally realized that it is visible in IE, but not in Safari, Firefox or Chrome.

Does anyone know why this would be?

I am pulling my hair out on this. I have tried getting bbPress to work with a WordPress site using a custom theme and evidently I’m missing something because it just isn’t happening. Here’s what I’ve done based on what I could find for instructions so far:

    • I installed and activated the plugin through the wordpress admin.
    • I created a test forum and a test topic through the wordpress admin.
    • I created a child theme folder, named the same as the primary theme appended with ‘-child’.
    • I copied the contents of the wp-content/plugins/bbpress/bbp-twentyten into the child theme folder.
    • I updated the style.css file ‘Template:’ line to refer to the parent theme.
    • I added ‘add_theme_support( ‘bbpress’ );’ to the main theme’s functions.php.

When I go to the forum via http://www.carolina-business.org/forums/, I get a page that spits out a section titled with the most recent post title and a huge amount of blank space with the forum list at the bottom of the section. This is followed by a section for every other post on the site, each of these containing the forum list.

When I go to the forum via http://www.carolina-business.org/forums/forum/test-forum-1, I get another page that shows all of the posts in the site. I get the same result via http://www.carolina-business.org/forums/topic/test-topic-1/.

What I’m trying to achieve is for the forum to appear in the content area of the site, within one of the content frames (the white box with the green header and gray border.)

Can anyone tell me what I am doing incorrectly/not doing? Thanks!

My theme author hasn’t updated the theme, and I’m still having trouble with my forums. Is there a way to revert back to 2.0.3 so my forums will still work?

    • The ‘Recent Replies’ widget shows recent replies.
    • The ‘Recent Topics’ widget has the option to show ‘New Topics’, ‘Popular Topics’ or ‘Topics with recent replies’

You can therefore use a combination of the two widgets to achieve what you are after…

This was by design… This can change…

A couple of the widgets have just been updated (see #1903) by @jaredatch and I suppose what you are asking is like how the ‘Recent Topics’ widget has the new/pop/recent options, could the ‘Recent Replies’ widget also include a checkbox to also include ‘Recent Topics with No Replies’?

If that is what you are asking then jump on over and create a new ticket explaining what ‘enhancment’ you would like in the widget/s and we will see how we go for a future release. https://bbpress.trac.wordpress.org/newticket

Can you tell me how to install your tweak? I am using just the standard Admin tools, and there seems to be no automatic way to reinstall a plugin that isn’t updated.

Sorry for being such a newbie.

Great work James ! one more small thing would like to bring to your notice, Under Admin page of user having capability as Forum moderator (twenty Eleven theme 1.4) no topics or replies are shown, though one test topic is created count for All(1) Published(1). Once again Great Job.

Hi I have had exactly the same problem, I updated this morning and the Widget has appeared, many thanks Guys for your efforts.

Thanks guys. I’ve updated the phpBB.php file as suggested, wiped out the Forums again, did the conversion from phpBB3 – it went through beautifully – and promptly received the same error when trying to login as a non-admin user that got ported from phpBB, only now it complained about phpBB.php vs. Phpbb.php.

So still no-go for me. 🙁

This has now been fixed and will be in the next update v2.12

As a workaround you can download the updated phpBB.php file here.

Seeing as you wiped bbPress and tried the import from phpBB again, if you do the same again with this update users no longer need to reset their password 😉

May I know how can I change the font color back to BLACK? Which file should I edit? Before that, it was ok.

    Please help.

    Thank you.

I just updated bbPress to 2.1.1 and now the buddypress components like members and groups are not showing up on my site. Is there something I can do to get those functions working again?

    Thanks.

Just updated to 2.1.1 – «Topic Description» is still not in the pot-File…

I don’t see ‘Topic Description’ as a string anywhere in 2.1.1.
