Is that a plugin that is a viable solution to quote replies, or reply to other people who have replied? I am using bbpress 2.1.2, have tried the bbpress quotes but it has not been updated to work properly with this version.

I would think this is a must have for most people using forums, how are you guys implementing this feature with bbpress?

I have tried bbpress polls and wp-polls but these have not been updated in a long time nor to do they work with 2.1. What poll solution is there for bbpress?

@livninctry I see you are using some kind of custom registration form to register users on both sites, is this causing any roles or modifying user permissions?

For your ‘dev’ environment I would install WordPress and then bbPress and NOT installing the suffusion theme or the suffusion bbPress pack and see if everything works before adding anything else.

Kind of the same for your main site, disable ALL plugins except bbPress and check to make sure everything works, then try with the suffusion theme, check everything again, then the suffusion bbPress pack, check everything again, then each of your other plugins one by one checking everything each and everytime.

I also see that the Suffusion bbPress pack v1.01 has not been updated in a while “Last Updated: 2012-7-25” or has it been updated since reported problems 2 months ago https://wordpress.org/support/topic/plugin-suffusion-bbpress-pack-compatibility-issues-with-latest-bbpress-212

I’m having the same issues as Annie, 404s on forums unless they’re private. Was working fine with whichever version I updated from, 2.1.something

    Cheers,

I have created a ticket in trac https://bbpress.trac.wordpress.org/ticket/2074
If you could keep all bugs and/or feedback posted to this ticket (‘tracs’ everything in one place)

This has only beeen tested using Simple Press 5.1.4

To install download the SimplePress5.php file and upload it to bbPress in the folder /wp-content/plugins/includes/admin/converters/

Basic instructions on using any of the import tools are here (will to get these updated soon)

Ok, the only plugin I’ve updated recently was bbpress and since then, it’s stopped working. What would cause this? Right now, the forums will not load.

Here’s the URL to them: http://www.tastyfresh.com/forums/

That’s to a page that is calling the shortcode. Several actually. It may be possible that I have a conflict in there given that the page itself is made to have logged in and logged out views as well as multiple renders of the forums in tabs (All forums, login and recent topics specifically). It was functioning just fine until the 2.2.2 update.

So, what are the potential issues that could cause this?

I updated bbPress and now only two forums out of six are listed on my forum page. The Continue Reading link is not working either, but I would prefer to have all my forums listed on the same page.

I am seeing this strange behavior where if category description is entered, all sub-forums under that parent category will disappear and even clicking into the category does not reveal them.

    Steps to produce:

    1. Create category TEST
    2. Create forum FORUM and select TEST as category
    3. Edit TEST category and enter some description/update

And to add to that, even if I go back to delete the description, it doesn’t work.

    Anyone seeing this?

EDIT: Updated title to include ‘private’ context (@Netweb)

    Hi folks,

I’m using BBPress over at raisingharmony.com/forums/. It is a premium content area, meaning you can’t access the forum without proper login credentials. I would be happy to provide some if it would assist in troubleshooting. My trouble is that when people checkmark the checkbox that says, “Notify me of follow-up replies via email,” they aren’t getting the email.

    Couple of notes:

    (1) I’m using WordPress 3.4.2.
    (2) I’m using BBPress 2.1.2.
    (3) The PHP mail() function works just fine on the rest of the site.
    (4) My only modification to the plugin is that in the /wp-content/plugins/forums/bb-includes/bbp-common-functions.php file, I’ve updated the bbp_check_for_floodI() function to return “True” every time, but this shouldn’t be affecting the email functionality in any way.

Just googling around and looking on this forum, it looks like other people have complained about this 13 months ago, but nobody ever posted an answer other than, “Cool, it’s working now.”

    Any suggestions?

    Thanks!

I know PageLines released an updated compat plugin for bbPress 2.2, what version that actually is I am not sure as it doesn’t appear publicly (from what I can see).

    http://www.pagelines.com/store/plugins/pagelines-bbpress/
    http://www.pagelines.com/forum/topic/23459-bbpress-22-crash/page__hl__bbpress#entry137455

Make sure you are running WordPress 3.4.2 and bbPress 2.2.2 and the latest updates from PageLines , if you are still not seeing any content I would ask PageLines support to look into it further.

I noticed in this update that the two CSS files:

    bbpress.css
    bbpress-rtl.css

were updated but the min versions where not.

I just YUI compressed them myself, to create a min version of each.

I updated to bbPress 2.2.1 last night and had the same problem with Ultimate TinyMCE plugin. The plugin sued to work beautifully with bbPress, now I get the default fancy editor. I’m not a PHP guru so I’ve been trying to avoid messing around in the code as Michael suggests. Is there any other option to get that editor enabled (it does show up in the dashboard versions of new Topic and I miss the table drawer)

    regards, Paul

    Hi

I looked at version 2.2, updated my bbpress, but didn’t find how to manage forum access on an individual user basis.

    Has this feature been implemented?

    #120585

Revert back to a default WordPress theme. Update your permalinks.

Update: After re-saving my forums settings, they have reverted to the first picture. They seem to be formatted like normal, empty pages.

So I made the update to 2.2.1 (everything was working fine on 2.2), and the plugin successfully installed and activated. However, when I went to look at the forums, they looked like this

I deactivated bbpress and re-activated it, and now it gives a 404 page, like so

Direct links to posts go to wordpress “pages” with a stream of text.

Any ideas? Anyone else having this happen to them?

The process is still the same, I just updated the page you mention and it was only a minor modification for the default template location in bbPress 2.2.

I have a similar problem (though not related to s2member). I have a custom Site Role (called “Student”), which I had enabled to participate in the Forums, by assigning the necessary Capabilities (using the Members plugin from Justin Tadlock). This worked fine in bbPress v2.1.2.

But I just updated to bbPress v2.2.1, and now bbPress has a new concept of Forum Roles, separate from (but somehow related to) Site Roles. So now all my Student users are unable to participate anymore!

I do NOT want to have to manually set the new Forum Role for each Student. Instead, I tried using the Members plugin to (again) add the necessary Capabilities to my Student role, to match those of bbPress’s new Participant role. I did this by matching the checkboxes displayed by the Members plugin. But this did not work. In fact the Members plugin shows that a Participant has 28 Capabilities, though only 8 are actually “checked”. So are some of a Participant’s capabilities somehow HIDDEN? Can I somehow tell bbPress to use my Student role?

    Hoping for help on this.

So I updated to the new 2.2.1 bbpress plugin. Thought I would start fresh conversion. It had to finish deleting the previously converted data went to 482842099 lines. Then started the fresh conversion.

I still have anonymous posters with the occasional real poster. A thread started by an occasional real poster is the wrong poster using bbpress 1.1 reference.

    Hi John,

Thanks for your advices, really appreciate them.

I’m trying to use bbPress core functions.
Hope the documentation can be updated and improved soon.

I was not moving between installation here.
The old forums that our company had was based on P2 (or some kind of P2 based) WordPress theme and it’s kinda different from.
Therefore, using WordPress export, import function is not sufficient here.
For example, in the past, there is a topic under “Relationship” forum.
It’s actually a pure post in WordPress term and “Relationship” is a category of posts here.

Again, where is a good place for me to look at the bbPress’ insert functions?

    Best regards,

    #120354

kk I updated the plugin referenced in the gist above (load the filter earlier via plugins_loaded). You’ll need to leave the plugin I added live, but it will handle new s2member registrations AND eliminates the need to visit tools->forums

The UI on BuddyPress’s end hasn’t been updated yet. If you have bbPress installed, and are using it to power your group forums, the BuddyPress forums component should be completely turned off.

It’s possible there’s an issue with BuddyPress 1.6 in this regard, but there wasn’t in my testing. I’ll take another look around.
