If I go into a forum category and not just the latest posts on the home page I see a forum search to the left, what do you see if you visit this page: https://bbpress.org/forums/forum/installation/
I’m looking for this too. I found a shortcode that do this, but I’m not sure if it’s the same of this forum. The shortcode is: [bbp-topic-index]
Versions of WP, BBP and AWPCP?
Made a clean install of all in their latest releases, and it failed.
I have installed bbpress plugin in my wordpress, but there is not latest topcis on my forums front page like on your http://bbpress.org/forums/

Hi, all. In the BBpress plugin for WordPress, the default theme does not contain log-in and profile links at the header of every page. How do I add this? Thanks!
Edit: Also. How do I add the latest discussions to the home page?

A fully tested, improved German language pack in formal and informal version is here to found:
http://ddwb.me/bbpress-de
This is created and maintained by me since the 2.x branch!
Thanks, Dave 🙂
I have just realised that Figero likes to make a stab at the page the user is on so that when viewing a page such as:
http://www.nordhavndreamers.com/forums/topic/test/
Figero, puts a link just under the menu which says
You are here: >> Home >> Topic >> Test
(with Home and Topic as URL links)
The problem though is that if you click the link, “Topic”, you get a 404 page not found.
Need some advice.
Thanks.

So, oddly, the install of bbPress on my site is v 2.0.1, and the latest version is 2.1. Yet, I have no option to upgrade in my plugins screen..
Is there a reason why bbPress wouldn’t see the new version availability (and can it be fixed), or failing that, can I manually upgrade to 2.1 somehow?
I assume i could just copy new files over from the latest release, but perhaps there are database structural changes that this wouldn’t account for?

I am using both the Recent Topics and the Recent Replies widgets. The Recent Replies widget works beautifully, but the Recent Topics widget seems erratic. I have it set to list topics by “Newest Topic”, but the order seems unpredictable. Sometimes it uses the creation date, and other times the latest reply date. Sometimes a reply causes it to change the date it shows, and sometimes it doesn’t. It is not a crippling issue, but curious. Was there a recent update that could have changed the behavior? I am using the latest WP (3.4.1) and BBPress (2.1.2), and tried using the recount tools–they didn’t help. The website is here: http://poetryroundup.us/whup/
Any help will be appreciated.
I am wanting to change the post count instead to a reply count, same as the current bbPress forum does. How would I go about doing that? I have tried to google and search through these forums but unfortunately haven’t found the answer yet.
I am using the latest version of bbPress and WordPress and my forum is currently in test mode at netballscoop.com/forums
I am doing the testing on bitnami stack, so not uploaded to my blog yet.
I tried hacking via firebug and checking the CSS file. It is not showing me the results.
Hey guys, the converter in BBpress worked out pretty well. There was some issues with emoticons not being converted properly but I ran into a more troubling issue. When a forum user tries to login into our site they get a php warning.
“Warning: require_once(bbp-converter.php) [function.require-once]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /home/cog/public_html/test-site/wp-content/plugins/bbpress/bbp-includes/bbp-user-functions.php on line 1466
Fatal error: require_once() [function.require]: Failed opening required ‘bbp-converter.php’ (include_path=’.:/usr/lib/php:/usr/local/lib/php’) in /home/cog/public_html/test-site/wp-content/plugins/bbpress/bbp-includes/bbp-user-functions.php on line 1466”
It seems to be unable to find the bbp-converter file. This could possibly have something to do with our urls as the sites path is http://64.64.27.114/~cog/test-site/ and as you can see up above the path it is trying taking differs. Any thoughts on how I could resolve this? None of the users can login in right now.
Hi
i use worpress 3.4.1 and I installed bbpress 2.1.2 on my site karnhack.com.
I have the permalink activated (I have tried to reset it) and the wordpress page is named karnhack.com/forum-test
When i click the forum “provaforum” bbpress opens the contents out of my site and ignores the permalink /forum-test/
Could someone help me? thank you very much
When a user login to the the site, they are automatically logged out out when the forum is visited. The only exception is the ‘admin’
I really need a fix to this issue.
I’m using the latest version of WordPress, and my site is http://www.cvshore.com; bb version is 2.1.2
I’ve hacked away at this for way too long; but, I seem to have gotten it down to an issue with the rewrite mod and permalinks. Permalinks for posts seem to work, but, not anything that plugins add. I’ve also put up a mod_rewrite test PHP page and it says that mod_rewrite is not working properly; so, I’ll keep working on that issue.
Try this and post the link back here:
Does this now include the forum description?

Normally I can figure things out but I’m stumped on this one.
Site is here: http://www.skinnyskiff.com/forums/
Whenever a user signs up, and attempts to update their profile. They are redirected to the top of the page where a notice says ‘user must enter their password’ and even if they DO enter their password, it says ‘incorrect password’
I am using the latest version of both WP and bbp and I am only using ONE plugin with bbp. I have disabled it and I am still having this same problem.
I have not tried disabling the addon plugin, and then disabling and reenabling bbp but I dont think that will make a difference?
Thanks
Hi there,
I currently run two bbpress forums in the old stand-alone version (1.0.3 and 1.0.2) and I would like to upgrade to the latest plugin version. I have been searching the forums for instructions on how to do this without much success. Can somebody please advise on how to do this upgrade/conversion. Thanks in advance!
I’m going to explode, here.
You’re kidding me, right? Who or what are you getting defensive about? I’m not even TALKING about that! We can already DO exactly what I’m talking about inside a normal page with only several single-forum shortcodes! The problem is, because of breadcrumbs not linking to the new page I can create for that, I can’t use a different page. I have to use the .php page that is the forum-index.
Let me make this as simple as humanly possible. This is all I want on my “forums index”: what you get when you put the following into a page:
[bbp-single-forum id=$forum_id-1]
[bbp-single-forum id=$forum_id-2]
[bbp-single-forum id=$forum_id-3]
Let’s assume those are the id’s of forums of my choosing. In this case, those are the id’s of my three top-level categories. Whatever you get when posting those three shortcodes into one page is EXACTLY what I want as my forums index page. (By the way, all other forums systems already look like this. And don’t assume that everyone likes bbPress’ current index page, which is the only index page of its kind. That is speculation.)
That is all. Nothing more. We can do it on a single page or post, so I know we can do it on a .php file.
And finally, don’t be smart with me. bbPress is the only forums system that integrates with WordPress as well as it does. To have a multimedia site with a completely separate forums is to KILL YOUR SITE. I understand why, if your forums isn’t the landing page of your site, you MUST have full integration between your site and forums in order to keep traffic. That is why I can’t use things other than bbPress.
If you’re going to respond to me, at least read the first post. Just reading the latest two posts isn’t going to give you enough info to respond well without annoying the poster. Please, for the love of god…
I’ve been going crazy with this and what I’ve concluded is this:
- I’ve made a new fresh installation of WP, Buddypress and bbPress on a subdomain, without any plugins more, tweaks or whatever.
- My setup was sitewide forums.
IT JUST DON’T UPDATE ANYTHING FROM FORUMS.
Then I’ve switched to Group forums and it works perfectly.
In the process I found another bug for sitewide forums: At user profile page –> forums option –> topics replied to, it gets blank.
I’ve confirmed this bug at buddypress testdrive site, it has the same problem.
So I believe that for now sitewide forums has no buddypress activity integration.
Should I open a ticket ?
Edit or create forums and topics from dashboard painel. Once in the editor at your right you’ll see a box forum or topic attributes.
I guess this is only for the latest version of bbpress.
Hello,
I would like to restrict the topic content to certain user roles, so that subscribers and non-logged-in user can see the topics inside the forum, but when they click on the topic, they get a message “for premium members only”. This doesn’t work with private or hidden forums, because I want them to see the topics they are missing… 😉
I installed the latest bbpress plugin 2.1.2, WordPress 3.4.1, and Members 0.2
Editing the Subscribers role, I tried to add a Capability filter “bbp_get_topic_content” and disabled it, but that didn’t work (it disappeared, so doesn’t seem to be the correct capability).
Any idea, how I can achieve that?
Thanks
