@ratsoid2 I put your code (minus the xxxx) into a page and previewed it but all I get is the code on the page.. If I’m supposed to change out the username or other info then you will have to tell us to do that also…
Also what is the comment profile link? Is this my admin profile? or my comments? I would find this not very interesting…
I’m more interested in the guy’s feeds above to get info on who has been creating topics and the info in those feeds…
I’ve only got a few users so far and I can keep up with things but if it gets busy I’m going to want to see a control shell that shows the info as it happens in the forum.
I too have upgraded to RC2 and when my users try to update their profile they get this error:
Fatal error: Call to a member function get_error_codes() on a non-object in /hostroot/voipbloggen.dk/htdocs/wp-content/plugins/bbpress/bbp-includes/bbp-common-functions.php on line 1392

To hide the “Home” link, just put this in your styles.css
a.bbp-breadcrumb-home {
display: none;
}
Also, I am displaying the profile link of commenters in the blogs comments using:
<?php if ($comment->user_id) { $user=get_userdata($comment->user_id); echo '<span class="forumauthor"> <XXXXa href="link-to-profile-without-username/'.$user->user_nicename.'">Profil</span>'; } ?>
remove the XXXX from the code.
you breadcrmb is not the normal or is?
without start etc. can you give me the code for that breadcrumb?
Hello All,
I am not sure if this is expected behaviour. I have spent all day looking for an answer. Which does not mean that I did not miss something.
My forums are at http://www.weekendbrisbane.com.au/forums
I have followed bbpress theme compatibility install, and believe I have done it correctly. Created a child theme, copied files over to the child theme, inserted the functions.php and add_theme_support( ‘bbpress’ );
I have also created a page at http://www.weekendbrisbane.com.au/forum, (<–no “s” on the end) and used the shortcode [bbp-forum-index]. Which appears to work, until you click on a sub forum or topic. Also, using breadcrumb to move back to forums takes you to “forums”
So my questions are
1. Is this expected behaviour for the default “/forums” page or have I missed an installation step?
2. If I missed a step, is it possible to point me in the right direction? It would be appreciated
2. Or if it is expected behaviour, do I need to create pages for every topic and forum created? Which I am guessing is not the case.
couple of extra notes
– I have also created a page “forums” with slug “/forums” and added [bbp-forum-index] which appears to be ignored completly.
– If I change the template in “/forum” to bbPress – Forums )index, I also loose style formatting.
PS. I may be batting out of my league trying to install bbpress in beta version. But I like the looks of it and would be great if I could get it to work on my website.
Thanks in advance for any help.
i dont will use buddypress for avatar.
this one:
https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/add-local-avatar/
when you can integrate this into the profile of bbpress i like it
You’re probably right about it being a bridge too far for this project, but since you asked what kinda plugins people would like to see, well.. That one for sure
There’s a forum signature one already:
https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/bbp-signature/
As for an avatar plugin:
BuddyPress as mentioned and I’ve seen some others been mentioned in these forums too, but I didn’t test those.
There’s also an UBBcode/toolbar plugin but that’s about it I think.
Most people seem to be moving towards using custom post-types for storing large chunks of data these days. But this data is person specific, so it might best stored as meta data connected to the users profile. I’m not sure exactly where that would be stored though.
That meta data could quite big too as you would need to store whether someone had looked at a LOT of posts in some situations. I guess you could make it conk out past a certain date though to stop the system overloading itself, or perhaps cap the meta data at a certain number of bytes perhaps …. hmmmm, maybe it is possible.
Not sure I have the time to delve into this sort of thing myself though, and since they’re new to this stuff I need to be able to hand hold them through a lot of it. If there’s an experienced bbPress coder out there willing to help, feel free to volunteer
A helping hand from across the other side of the world could be a useful experience for them. Collaborating with people in other parts of the world could be a useful learning experience for them.
You’re probably right, I never developed a plugin for WordPress yet, something I like to look into when I have some time again
I would love a “read”/”unread”/”new posts” kinda plugin for bbpress (2.x)
I’m meeting with some IT students tomorrow who will possibly be working on projects with me as part of their course. I was thinking that maybe they could make some simple widgets for the new bbPress plugin.
Are there any simple plugins/widgets that bbPress users would like built?
More information is available on WP Tavern:
http://www.wptavern.com/forum/plugins-hacks/2294-free-wordpress-plugin-development.html
And I’ve posted some of the current suggestions on Google+, none of them are bbPress related (yet):
https://plus.google.com/110903788122203327516/posts/gEAACcGcFih
Thanks for any ideas you guys might have

If I find the time I’ll see if I can test on a brand new install, but I don’t know if I’ll have that time.
Any idea what else could cause it?
Either way, it’s not really an issue for me for me at the moment, since it’s working now
PS > Lots of updates yesterday night, nice one!
I see the ticket, I commented on it yesterday.
I can’t duplicate it, and don’t see any reason that cap would cause that behavior.
Because bbPress 1.0 doesn’t allow for comment splitting.
If what you want to talk about doesn’t have an existing topic, make one. We’re pretty lax about things getting off topic here, but there are a few focused topics (mostly stickies) that I’m trying to keep on topic.
It goes both ways too – if you start a topic for help on something, and someone comes into it and starts asking unrelated questions, eventually there will come a point where you’ll want things to shift back on topic.
I’ve tried the shortcode for the index page, and it’s not taking me to my forum.

I’m trying to use the plugin version.
I am always updating the files as soon as I see an update here:
https://bbpress.trac.wordpress.org/browser/branches/plugin/ so I am REALLY looking forward to see that update
Cheers JJJ
Sorry. But that thread doesn’t want bugs either
I’ll just do what John wrote in the long thread you link to, and write a new thread for each issue (hoping they won’t drown in the flow of regular bbPress queries)
I understand that we did wrong, but I don’t understand why a moderator didn’t just split the thread, since I think the comments are very valid regarding bbPress.

I didn’t try it myself, but you can import posts from the stand-alone edition. Try searching for it.
Either way, I would suggest you get a beta running where you try it out first, before you employ it on any live site.
Like…Is there documentation for the upgrade process?
Thanks but i dont understand? When i search “bbp_get_topic_edit_link” i have a many lines in the code… what line i must change?
please help me.
I was wondering… will there be a way for users of the forum to be able to post pictures down the road? Can they do it now? or do they need to know html posting codes SRC or the like to put a picture into the forum for others to enjoy…
My forum is a fall foliage in New England http://jeff-foliage.com/fall-foliage-forum/ and I’m getting some interest in the forum but it’s very light yet. It would be nice if they could upload directly but that might be dicey… So I assume they would have to host it somewhere like Picassa and then link back to the forum…
It would be nice though to just have the code there that they click a button to find it online or if they have the code from their site they could paste it in while it’s being hosted at their storage location…
Not sure but I doubt it has something to do with the database collation. Try installing with a database which has its collation set to utf8_unicode_ci
Hello,
I’ve installed bbPress plugin onto a site that uses the Optimize WP theme from Woothemes.
Now, using the short-code I am able to get the forum to display in a page normally.
http://www.carsrecoverylondon.com/forum/
However, when I try to visit a single forum or topic I get a blank page with just header and title but no content,
http://www.carsrecoverylondon.com/forums/forum/support-forum/
Is that a theme problem or a plugin compatibility issue or what?
And how can I work around it?
Many thanks.
