Topic: BBpress + Simple membership
Hello everyone,
I have been using simple membership + BB press to create forums only for members. Now when nonmembers click each topic, they would see the following message:
“PRIVATE, You do not have permission to view this forum.”
I would like to customize this message and say “This forum is visible only to this group members, please click here and sign up for this group” something like that. I reached out to Simple Membership and I was told to inquire BB press and/or use Loco Translate plugin.
Also, can anyone tell me how to make anonymous topics?
Any input will be greatly appreciated. I am self-taught and I have no coding background so a detailed explanation will be appreciated 🙂
Here are the details of my website:
WordPress 5.9.2 running Roseta theme.
BB press Version 2.6.9Thank you!

Hi there.
The BBPress Moderation plugin has been discontinued.
Is there another way that we can approve Topic replies made by other people? This is SO IMPORTANT. Please.
Thank you.
Wordpress Version: 5.9.2
BBPress version: 2.6.9I have the most recent version of bbPress and just set up a forum on there. How do I have posts be moderated and not posted by users if they use certain words? Need some help here.
Therefore asking this question on both buddypress.org and bbpress.org support forums. Wondering that this issue has not been yet reported.
If bbpress is enabled hidden bp-groups are not visible for member/moderator or administrator wihin own groups in BP overview page. The number of hidden groups is reported correct under ‘My Groups’ but no icons are shown. Hidden groups are only viewable and accessible via search function.
Tested with these two plugins only activated. Standard WP Install without ‘bp-custom.php’.
Environment:
bbPress 2.6.9 (2.7-alpha), BP 10.0 – 10.2.0, WP 5.9.2, PHP 7.4 (Themes: WP TwentyTwentyTwo and BuddyX)I’m just looking for any ideas on how to debug this. I don’t see how it would be a bbPress problem, but on the BuddyPress forum they basically said “Ask bbPress and GeneratePress.” So I’m doing that.
WordPress 5.9.2, BuddyPress 10.1.0, bbPress 2.6.9
(I haven’t upgraded to BP 10.2.0 yet, but I don’t see any fixes that seems to apply to this.)
It happens “once in a while” since upgrading to BP 10.1.0. (Four times since March 9th.)
It *might* be related to email notifications (mentions?) in a bbPress closed topic.[09-Mar-2022 17:13:53 UTC] WordPress database error You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near ') AND user_id = 1348 AND component_name = 'messages' AND component_action = 'new' at line 1 for query UPDATE wp_bp_notifications SET is_new = 0 WHERE item_id IN () AND user_id = 1348 AND component_name = 'messages' AND component_action = 'new_message' made by require('wp-blog-header.php'), require_once('wp-includes/template-loader.php'), include('/themes/generatepress/page.php'), generate_do_template_part, get_template_part, locate_template, load_template, require('/themes/generatepress/content-page.php'), the_content, apply_filters('the_content'), WP_Hook->apply_filters, bp_replace_the_content, apply_filters('bp_replace_the_content'), WP_Hook->apply_filters, BP_Members_Theme_Compat->single_dummy_content, bp_buffer_template_part, bp_get_template_part, bp_locate_template, load_template, require('/plugins/buddypress/bp-templates/bp-legacy/buddypress/members/single/home.php'), bp_get_template_part, bp_locate_template, load_template, require('/plugins/buddypress/bp-templates/bp-legacy/buddypress/members/single/messages.php'), bp_get_template_part, bp_locate_template, load_template, require('/plugins/buddypress/bp-templates/bp-legacy/buddypress/members/single/messages/single.php'), bp_thread_the_message, BP_Messages_Thread_Template->the_message, do_action('thread_loop_start'), WP_Hook->do_action, WP_Hook->apply_filters, bp_messages_screen_conversation_mark_notifications, bp_notifications_mark_notifications_by_item_ids, BP_Notifications_Notification::update_id_list
Hello.
What is the name of the default theme at bbpress.org/forums?
Hi all,
I have some questions regarding bbpress because some things are driving me nuts.
1)
I wanted to move my bbpress from a website to another website with a different domain. I have searched a lot, but till now there is no good description about moving bbpress. Is it still like there is no plugin or tool for this?
So I have exported the forums and topics and replies with the “Tools export” and imported them with “tools import”. Ofcourse it did not work. So i tried to use the repair settings of bbpress but with no luck. The recalculating stuff breaks the forum even more. At the end I had to open every single topic, put it in trash. save it, then re-post it. To get it to work.
So when going to “tools->bbpress” the repair and recalculating is not working very great. How can I get this to work? Because, when I recalculate the freshnesh link for example, it removes all freshnesh links from the forum. It is only coming back visible when i add a new topic to a forum.
I am very happy its only a small forum because I can play around to understand the functionallity. But, I am starting to get concerned what will happen when the forum will become bigger. Can someone explain to me, how to approach this situation?
As a theme I use Sydney pro. I have searched if there are any conflicts but couldnt find any. Does someone know about problems with bbpress and this theme?
I really like bbpress since its easy to make it look like I want but I dislike everything what I have experienced. To be honest I think, I do things wrong, but I cannot find any explaination to do it better.
Can someone give me an advice?
Oh and last part. It is not possible to import the replies since they are not visible in the dashboard. When I import them the published and all link show a number but the list keeps empty and it breaks the forum. There should be an easier way to do this I hope.
So long story short, how do you all manage your bbpress forum and how do you fix this kind of problems?
Sorry for any bad English.
Regards
Jap
