    Hi if you’re still around would like to know how you changed Freshness to Last Post?

    bbPress 2.6 will no longer use “Freshness”, the default is now “Last Post”

    You can do this by creating a child theme and editing the form-anonymous template, you can find details on doing this here https://codex.bbpress.org/functions-files-and-child-themes-explained/

    sorry,
    the conflict is with a custom taxonomy named Topics, not a post type as I thought before.

    It seems that I should be able to change the slug for bbPress but not sure how and where. The settings page does not do it.

    i am trying to integrate bbPress on a site that has a custom post type of ‘topic’ and this seems to be preventing me from getting bbpress working. I cannot get to the topics page for any forums as the custom post type somehow redirects all the links.

    Any idea of what I might be able to do to get around this issue. changing the topic post type that already exists is not an option at this point.

    I already tried to change the bbPress settings but nothing seems to make a difference. I am totally out of ideas and things to try.

    thank you.

    This should be simple but haven’t been able to find info on how to do this.

    I want to add a custom tab/link with content to the bbPress profile page (NOT using Buddypress at all), I’ve come across people saying it can be done, but no actual guide/info to how it can be done.

    Any help appreciated. Thanks.

    less shouty with the title, and a little bit of patience would be great !

    bbPress is tested with wordpress default themes. It maybe a conflict – you need to check plugins and themes

    It could be a theme or plugin issue

    Plugins

    Deactivate all but bbpress and see if this fixes. if it does, re-enable one at a time to see which is causing the error.

    Themes

    If plugins don’t pinpoint the problem, as a test switch to a default theme such as twentyfifteen, and see if this fixes.

    Then come back

    Hey, so recently I set up a localhost server (WAMPSERVER) and installed WP and bbPress. I then tested out the sign up function and realised that the Password Confirmation email was not being sent; even after using different emails and providers.
    I would appreciate some help in fixing the problem 🙂

    I have updated WordPress but still have the same problem. When I change my admin roles I can briefly see the BBpress options in the wp menu. But after one click they disappear form the menu…

    Seems like a bug to me or a malfunction with an other plugin?

    I read through this forum because I am experiencing similar issues…(I am a keyholder). I am using both Buddypress and bbpress. I do not have programming knowledge or experience, I do not understand codex or php, I’m just looking for someone to hopefully assist me with a simple solution to these issues, so that when people sign up as users, their interactions are seamless and they are able to quickly find the information they are looking for.

    1. When logged in as a user, I am not able to access forums without using the URL to the page. I used the “user roles and capabilities” plugin as recommended above, to change the user settings in the back end so I could view “private” posts and that sort of worked but I still have to use the URL to find the forum page. I have also run the tools for both Buddypress and bbpress. There are several links in the user profile area but they all seem to direct me to the user activities only…I cannot link to any of the content posted by other users through those links. (Same with the tool bar at the top of the page and all of the drop down menus).

    2. I just created a topic to post under a forum. Under my keyholder account, I am able to see the topic when I click on it but when I try clicking on it as a user, it doesnt show up. It just tells me there is “0 replies, has 1 post, and last updated by me” and the topic is not there.

    On the theme’s product information page located on Themeforest it says it is.

    It even has this listed in the other features area in their product description.

    Custom bbpress styling + custom login system – you can now build a community with ease.

    I hope this helps you: https://bbpress.org/forums/topic/import-phpbb-wrong-authors/
    I had to write some custom queries to fix the wrong authors problems.
    Can’t promise it’s going to work, but when I’ve run some counts on the tables during the process it looked that all the orphan posts were correctly reassigned to the wrong author.

    Good luck!

    Same here. Have you found anything on this? It’d be amazingly useful for my application of bbpress.

    has there been any progress in getting something to import from VBulleting 5.2 or above. They don’t have tables in VB 5 anymore and I am trying to import to BBPress as I am sick of VBulletin and how hard they are to work with. I moved to the cloud about 18 months ago over there and have regretted it almost immediately. I have 57K topics and 300K posts as well as 7K users (not all active anymore). I just need the best way to import the data to BBPress. The VBulletin importer in the software gives me many of the same errors mentioned on the forums here in several threads. I need this done yesterday.. LOL… I have moved my forums from the VBCloud and am putting up my home page. I have all data backed up. I have not tried the articles or anything else, just the forum posts. I couldn’t wait and have to pay another month to stay on VB as my contract was up with them.

    Hi there,

    I’m using WooCommerce Memberships for our site and unfortunately while it allows forums to be protected, people can still view full topics if they have the direct URL. One option would be to protect all Topic Tags using the Memberships plugin. However, that means that i need to automatically add a tag to each new topic.

    This function seems like it might fit the bill:
    wp_set_post_tags( $post_ID, $tags, $append );

    . . . however, I need some sort of hook or filter from bbpress in order to run the above that can deliver to me the post_id right after it’s the Topic has been created so I can pass it to this function and add the tag I’d like to add.

    Any ideas of how I could set this up?

    Thanks!

    In reply to: Threaded layout

    Robkk

    here is what I got.

    I had to edit loop-single-reply.php after all,

    I used a conditional to output the minimal layout only for single topics only.

    I had to use bbp_reply_permalink(); instead of bbp_reply_url();.

    Like I said you for sure do have to edit the bbPress reply titles plugin for what you exactly want, your gonna have to possibly make the reply title required as well.

    You are going to end up doing a lot of customization to get the rest of the funcitonality, because I am not sure how submitting a threaded reply works on the other forum.

    You are also going to figure out how to show the threads on the single reply page, for the specific topic they were originally from.

    Bunch more customizing, much more than free support could possible help with.

    I will share any custom templates I used later.

    Classic threads

    Hi,

    Currently, i’m integrating WooCommerce to bbpress for my project needs. Project is about selling services and consulting.

    Project Requirements :
    1. Users select their preferred services($$).
    2. Place the order.
    3. After successful payment. Users will re-direct to, automatically created forum page(Using bbp_insert_topic API). It’s created based on users order input fields. I’ve done that already.
    4. Created forums should be a private mode for that exact specific user and our WP admins.

    Issue is now, created forums are public and anyone can see it, even all logged in users can see that each of specific order details. 🙁

    Only the need is : Specific users(forum created user) and WP user will see and access that forum.

    I’m really missing private API from bbpress plugin. I don’t want bbpress social plugin. Because, i just need simple pre-defined private mode.

    Thanks! 🙂

    Use this custom CSS, add it anywhere you can put custom css like in a child themes style.css file or in a custom css plugin.

    #bbpress-forums p.bbp-topic-meta img.avatar,
    #bbpress-forums ul.bbp-reply-revision-log img.avatar,
    #bbpress-forums ul.bbp-topic-revision-log img.avatar,
    #bbpress-forums div.bbp-template-notice img.avatar,
    #bbpress-forums .widget_display_topics img.avatar,
    #bbpress-forums .widget_display_replies img.avatar {
      float: none;
      margin-bottom: auto;
      border: none;
      vertical-align: middle;
      padding: 0;
    }

    @douglsmith

    Oh shoot your right Doug. I might have suggested the wrong thing.

    I have also seen this happen with TinyMCE activated. It seems to be iOS users and they claim that they haven’t pasted anything, but I have not observed this for myself yet.

    I have no idea if it could be IOS specific?? I can check I guess?? Damn thats weird if it is.

    @harjindersingh645

    You will need to use this since you copied text to your forums. Pasting other articles content in the Visual Editor in TinyMCE could end up posting the HTML content, its recommended to post any articles content into the HTML editor, but you can also use this PHP code snippet from this guide below, that I think Doug did add, that would help resolve this issue that could be caused pasting articles in the visual editor for any further posts submitted.

    function bbp_tinymce_paste_plain_text( $plugins = array() ) {
        $plugins[] = 'paste';
        return $plugins;
    }
    add_filter( 'bbp_get_tiny_mce_plugins', 'bbp_tinymce_paste_plain_text' );

    https://codex.bbpress.org/enable-visual-editor/

    For editing the already messed up posts, I think you can just copy the original post, edit it, and paste the text into the HTML editor over the original content and hopefully that would fix it. THere might be also a chance of it going away just by editing it, then just republishing after you used the code snippet.

    @robkk, That would be to allow additional tags, right?

    In this case it looks like tags are getting into the content that already are not allowed by default. The screen shot shows a span tag, which is not included in the bbPress allowed list in bbpress/includes/common/formatting.php.

    I have also seen this happen with TinyMCE activated. It seems to be iOS users and they claim that they haven’t pasted anything, but I have not observed this for myself yet.
