I tried disabling my SEO plugin and those filters disappeared. The only other BBpress related plugin I have is for images, so i disabled that and no change to the filters.

I suspect something is interfering with the selectors / filters appearing that would allow me to approve posts (change from pending), or make approval related buttons appear (just guessing)

Any suggestions for a fix for the above?
Or, can I turn of ALL moderation so everything is automatically approved? I could not find such a setting.

You’re right – we cross posted. I see your point about the language in the URL…so that post is visible. Maybe a bad example.

I found another post that I can NOT find in my forum! Post number 6855, and in the database the post_status is marked as “pending”. Is that a clue?

Do I have to change the status of a post from Pending to “publish”? I’m wondering if I editted a post and then it goes missing. Do I have to approve my own post change?

I’m new to bbpress so trying to figure it out…wondering if this is my own doing. How can I see posts needing approval and how do I approve them (or change from “pending’)? Is that something I can switch off, since only I create/edit posts?

Hi all, interested to hear about how anyone deals with spam registrations.

So, I use the plugin reCaptcha by BestWebSoft which stops the bots.

But, how do you stop physical spam registration to your forum? I am getting around 20 a week now and they are by actual people with real email addresses. Around half of them get the confirmation email and then set their new password… Many then go silent but some make a post straight away to gambling, porn, the usual rubbish….

I have first posts flagged for approval so nothing ever gets posted but its a pain every week to manually remove these 10, 20, 30 new spam profiles.

be interested in any observations/other solutions.

    Have a great day!

Hello I am wondering whether this issue was investigated any further.

I have the same issue where WP Forms User Add On registration is not assigning a user role on approval.

When I deactivate the BBPress plugin. the problem goes away.

Hello, I need some information regarding the plugin.
    1. I want the question asked by the user will go to a moderator or moderators. The moderator will answer the question and the question and answer will both be posted upon the moderators’ approval.
In other words, no questions will be posted live until it has been explicitly approved to be live.
So how to achieve this functionality with this plugin?

    2. Is there any settings that enable functionality for moderators to get email notifications for any new topic in the forum?

    Hi!

I am wanting to be able to approve posts and comments before they get added to the forum. I’d like to get an email > approve or not > have the user updated on whether or not their post/comment has been approved.

I see all over that the Moderator plugin is no longer available for bbPress.

**Does anyone have any recommendations for alternative options for forum post/comment moderation & approval?**

    Hi Robin,

Thanks for your swift reply, looks promising. Where would I find that setting? I want any topic creation and comments to require admin approval before being shown.

    Many thanks

    bbp style pack

    once activated go to

    dashboard>settings>bbp style pack>Moderation

you can then set up what goes into ‘pending’ for approval

Hi there, i’ve read through lot of documentation and forum topics but still can’ find an answer.

I need to restrict forums and topics so that when a general participant creates a topic or leaves a comment, an admin must approve it – before it is shown. Is this possible?

    Many thanks

I want it to be submitted for my approval when users post a post in the flow. I also installed the bbpress modaration plugin, but when I want to post a post from my test account, it is shared immediately without approval. How can I solve this problem?

    1. the bbpress moderation plugin has been withdrawn – cab you confirm what plugin you are using
    2. what roles did your test account have, and what settings do you have for the plugin?

I also want everyone who registered on my site to share in the flow. I also don’t want him to go and buy a membership type. I want it to write in the stream as soon as it registers automatically. But first, I need to define a membership type for the person. There is no membership type purchase section. Where can I show this on my site? and How do I get newly registered customers to have a membership type instantly? If it doesn’t, it can’t share anything in the stream. I would be very pleased if the post is shared with the admin approval as above. I would be glad if you help.

Thanks for that. I had not noticed it was a feature as I already use this plugin.
I have now enabled it. One query…
I have set for moderation “none” as only our members can post or reply. The problem arose because a member added a post with more links than we had envisaged as a result of which the reply was held up and needed approval, but we did not get any alert.
Having set moderation “none” does that mean no posts/replies with too many links will need approval or will I get a prompt to warn me of a pending post/reply?

Interestingly the member who posted the reply which has held got an error message…
Function get_option was called with an argument that is deprecated since version 5.5.0! The “blacklist_keys” option key has been renamed to “disallowed_keys”. in /htdocs/wp-includes/functions.php on line 5667
Which suggests it found some system call bug.

    Hi

With the great bbp style pack plugin, with active moderation on moderation tab, we can approve any new topic or reply from a new user

is it possible to use a shortcode to show all topics / replies “pending” (so the ones that require approval)

that would be nice for moderator to have all contents to approve at the same place in frontend

Is it something already doable with an existing shortcode ?

    Thank

I am having three issues since installing the bbPress plugin:

    1. Every time a user subscribes/unsubscribes to a forum or topic, this appears and stays on the screen: Error: There was a problem unsubscribing.

    2. I have the html toolbar enabled, but it does not appear on the reply dialog.

    3. I do not see how to allow replies to post without approval.

is this in basic bbpress, or are you using an approval plugin?

as an idea – shadowban – use the link to edit the post bbp_toggle_reply_approve, then use css to remove the class moderator background and the inscription – “awaiting approval”.
But it will remain in the back-office “awaiting approval” list

    Hello Robin!
Approval is implemented using the following tools.
    bbpress moderation tool
The administrator will be notified by email when it is posted, but I would like to notify the poster by email that it has been approved.

I had a user tell me they got a notice their posts were waiting approval. What made that happen? The forum is open to registered users and this user has made many pervious posts.

so do you see the topic if you are not logged in, or not logged in as moderator/keymaster?

Usually you would just/only see ‘unapprove’ if topics automatically publish (so you would not see ‘approve’)

To see ‘approve’ usually you would have something set in

dashboard>settings>discussion that holds topics to await approval

or you mught have an additional bbpress related plugin that does this

    Dear community,

I am using bbPress Version 2.6.6 and I am wondering what the “approve” button is for?
In my case whenever an user creates a topic or reply I see the “approve” button as an admin though the topic / reply has been already published?!

The most confusing thing is after I approve (or unapprove) a topic / reply it disappears and I can not find it nowhere anymore?!

Can anybody explain where I can find them and what this function is for?

Thanks in advance and best regards

    Hi all.

I’ve been asked to create a forum that should be visible only to members.
It should entirely hidden to the public.

I understand that this can be done with bbPress for the forum, and a plugin (or two?) to keep the forum entirely out of view of the public.

I’d also like to make the registration process as smooth as possible.

A form will be presented to applicants.

Upon approval, I’d like to give successful applicants immediate forum access, without them having to register manually.

I haven’t checked yet, but I imagine that an admin should be able to create users manually and send them membership details (after which they will be prompted to create a secure password).

    My questions:

    * What are the best tools for create privacy?
ie, ensuring that the forum will be invisible to anyone except registered forum members?

    * What might I need to know about creating a membership-approval flow that matches the one I’ve described above? Apart from a form-creation plugin, will I need any other third-party tools?

    * Are there any ‘gotchas’ I should be concerned about when building a hidden private forum?

    Thanks.
