    Hi,

I was hoping that someone could tell me if there is there a way to display a list of child forums for specific parent using a shortcode?

For example, I have a number of private member forums that visitors need to login to view. I want to have a page that they visit to logon with the list of private forums below.

    http://www.blueclouditsolutions.com/asap/
    Wordpress version: 3.6
    bbpress version: 2.3.2

    Thanks for your help.

    Steve.

Just read your last 2 post, so haven’t tried anything yet, but I am on Social Engine v3.18. We were going to go to v4 then realized that WordPress would be the better way to go.

Thanks for putting so much work into this, Stephen!

I’m really hoping to move everything from SMF to bbPress soon with the launch of a new WordPress site. Let me know how I can help, whether it be testing or anything else. Eagerly awaiting for the rest of the forum aspects to work in your import 🙂

    With lots of appreciation,
    Ryan

    Nice…

    2) The best way to speed up the conversion is to run it locally rather than on your remote host. For some of the bigger sites I have converted I setup a local install which allowed me to tweak some RAM settings and use local fast hard disks which helped a great deal. One of the larger conversions I actually setup a 4GB RAM drive for all the MySQL data and that really made things hum along quickly. Once it was complete I dumped the MySQL database to a file and FTP’d it back up to the remote host and imported it ‘ready to go’ so to speak.

    1) As for importing passwords I will get back to you on, I have three new importers (Drupal, MyBB & PunBB) that I need to get this sorted out for and I will be looking into ‘getting this right’ over the next couple of days. The bbPress1 passwords were easy as they are already an actual WordPress password so they are basically just copied from bbPress -> WordPress.

Now I cannot create any new topics and I could not reply to this topic. I had to create this new account just to be able to reply. Can someone look into my account issue? A bit frustrating that there is no other support options besides these forums but I do understand.

    @netweb
Thanks! I did try Chrome, FireFox and IE initially and it was the same thing.

    Here is my question.

    WordPress 3.6
    bbPress 2.3.2

I have bbPress and BuddyPress setup on a multisite network with sitewide and group forums. Is it possible to integrate the group forum with a multisite site?

    ie.-
    XYZ BuddyPress Group = http://mainsite.com/groups/xyz/forum
    XYZ Blog = http://xyz.mainsite.com

Can the group forums integrate to the site? So if a post is made on the site it will show back on the group page or if on the group page it will go back to the site?

If that is not possible, is it possible to at least display the group forum data on the subsite with a shortcode or something?

    Thanks for any help!

WordPress 3.5.2, bbPress. Under Profile there is a generic image. How do you upload your photo to your profile? And how do I set size/mb limits on the upload?

I run WordPress 3.5.2 with bbPress and the Members plugin. I need a plugin that sends me email on every post, not just comments

I previously ran phpBB which had this feature, and I need it.

I just had to click 15 separate categories to find a new post, which I didn’t find, even though the author emailed me to say he posted.

    Hello,

I installed the bbPress and created 3 different public forums.
These 3 forums are used for medical issues: Nutrition, Physiotherapy and a Pulmonary doctor consultant.
Each forum is managed by a professional for the specific issue. That’s why i created 3 different users in WordPress and changed their permission to “Moderator”, But when each one of them is logged in to the admin,he/she can enter topics or Reply section and change other people content.
Is there a way to associate user to a specific forum where he only manages his own content? In other words, the user doesn’t have access to other forums in the admin and doesn’t have access to edit forums in the website which he is not associated with.
Can s2Member be one solution? if yes, how? i really got lost with the tutorials about that or just couldn’t find a good one.

    Thanks,
    Nir

Warning: in_array() [function.in-array]: Wrong datatype for second argument in /home/mydomain/public_html/wp-content/plugins/bbpress/includes/common/functions.php on line 1199

    What is the impact?
    What is the fix?

Will I be able to use WordPress functions (ie get_post_meta()) in bbpress?

Using wordpress is not overkill. Think of wordpress as an overall operating system where you have registration and login abilities, different roles for different users, spam filters like Wangguard. Then you use bbpress as a plugin for your forum.

How can you not want the user system if you have a forum?

    WP is not overkill.

    Hi there!

I’m in a bit of a dilemma, here are my circumstances:

    1. I want to use bbPress, but as a forum alone – My website is going to be a static homepage and a forum, no more and no less, and i would really hate to use a wordpress to accomplish such a simple task, it would really be an overkill, im not going to use ANY forum of cms, so id really hate to install wordpress ONLY so i can use bbPress, is there any way to get bbPress as a forum alone, not as a plugin?

    2. In the homepage, i want there to be two boxes:
Box1 – shows the latest topic from a certain forum(the announcement forum), including the title, and content, number of comments and user that posted it.

Box2 – shows a featured topic. I know there is a plugin for this, im just curios if i could use functions from bbPress, outside of bbPress, as in, in the homepage page, which is not a wordpress page.

So these are my circumstances. What do you think? should i install wordpress JUST so i could use the forum(if so, is there any way to really trim it down? i dont need the users system, comments, pages, posts, etc. Almost everything revolves around the forum)? If not, what are the alternatives?

bbPress is a really great software, and would really want to use it 🙂

Hi guys, im using the latest WP 3.6 + bbPress 2.3.2 + buddypress 1.8

All works fine until you try to either Edit a forum of an existing group (front end) or when creating a new group and then at step 3 adding a forum to this group, when then the page get broken.

The page will remain visible but the header and footer will disappear.

    see image below:
    Broken Header and Footer

I have disabled ALL plugins as well as switched theme to the WordPress / buddypress default one but still the issue remains.

Page end Source code finished without closing this are the last lines:

    <form action="http://[domainname]/group1/admin/extras" name="group-settings-form" id="group-settings-form" class="standard-form" method="post" enctype="multipart/form-data" role="main">

    Inspect Elements reports error:
Uncaught TypeError: Object [object Object] has no method ‘sortable’

This was also report on the Buddypress forum:
    http://buddypress.org/support/topic/admin-bar-and-footer-broken/

    Please help.
    Dan
