For importing, did you try to do it in test on bbPress 2.6-alpha (https://downloads.wordpress.org/plugin/bbpress.zip) ?
Importing has improved a lot in that version.
Pascal.
Hi!
WordPress 4.4.1 (i have this problem on older versions)
BbPress 2.5.8-5815
Installed plugins are:
bbPress Moderation
BuddyPress
GD bbPress Attachments
I’ve been stuck on this problem for a while now. We recently migrated our website from Rackspace to AWS hosting. Reinstalled wordpress, bbpress, and was able to migrate most of the site. Now I’m having problems with the Forums, Topics, and Replies.
On my forum page it shows the number of topic and replies, but when you click on it, it doesn’t show them, and on the topics you can click on, it won’t show the replies. I exported them using Tools>Export and exported Forums, Topics, and Replies, and imported them the same way, assigning them users. I can see every topic and reply in the wordpress panel, just not in my forums.
My forums can be seen here http://freeskies.co/forums/forums/.
This problem also affects new topics. When I create a new topic, it will remove all of these topics and posts and reset the count, even though i can still see them in the wordpress panel.
I don’t really know that much of it, but look at the URL you have when you see that message. Probably you have an ‘action’ variable that has no or an incorrect ‘_wpnonce’.
AN example of a correct url : https://www.elegantthemes.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2015/11/WordPress-Nonces-nonces-in-url.png
Hi,
That is a WordPress issue, not a specific bbPress issue. In most of the cases it is because WordPress checks for Nonce in an admin url and the check fails. You will have to search in that way.

Hi guys,
I need some help, I want to change the size of the font on the forum I have just created on my website. I am not up with CSS but am willing to try if someone can guide me. I am currently using the egamer theme from elegant themes with wordpress V 4.4.1.
The page with my forums on it is: http://www.gamersden.com.au/forum/
The forum topic headers are too big in my opinion.
Thanks in advance
@superaven @willywonkabar
v2.6 is in a pretty advanced state now. You can download the current alpha version from https://downloads.wordpress.org/plugin/bbpress.zip . It has improved a lot in, amongst other things, importing from other forums.
It would be of great help if both of you could test it and let us know your feeling about it.
Pascal.
Hey willywonkabar,
Unfortunately, I never tried. As mentioned further up, the fix needed for us to do so was supposed to be rolled into v2.6 which was due out soon. You’ll note on the download page that after all this time, the latest stable release is still at 2.5.8, so unfortunately BBPress isn’t even an option for us yet. Really sucks, because we’ve lost massive amounts of traffic struggling with bridge options and so far none have been all that great. We moved from vBulletin and settled on Xenforo as at least there appeared to be plugins to bridge their forum system to WordPress, but we’ve found after paying and testing the top 3 or so, that all come with compromises of one sort or another. We’re actually in the process of a major development effort now to move from a fully custom theme to a commercial theme for the purposes of simplifying the complexity of everything and dropping the various plugins and custom development we’d been using for our authentication and member roles. Hoping this improves the situation with the bridge, but not holding my breath. I really wish I could move us to an integrated solution like BBPress so we no longer have to worry about hacked bridges and unreliable authentication, but until BBPress improves the methods of how data is stored, it isn’t an option for large / active forums.
Sorry I don’t have better news for you.
try
https://wordpress.org/plugins/bbp-style-pack/
‘extras’ tab looks like it is close to what you want, or
[bsp-display-forum-index forum= ‘2932, 2921′ breadcrumb=’no’ search=’no’] from the shortcodes in the style pack plugin may work for you
I had the same problem and did as said in WordPress.org forum:
https://wordpress.org/support/topic/how-to-stop-cache-on-specific-folder?replies=2
problem solved and no need to disable WP Super Cache
at least, by now, it worked.
I use wordpress version 4.41 and bbpress 2.5.8. i have created a forum with bbpress, but users can’t login to the site. users get ‘blocked’ on a blank page at the top left corner of the page. i cannot even login except through wp-admin.
please i need an advice in resolving this issue.
Hi,
bbPress has not changed it’s stable version for some time. Things that changed are WordPress and Woocommerce, so I would suggest to also talk with them and first check the last opened tickets since you more or less have the issue.
Did you check you don’t have any issues: https://wordpress.org/support/topic/read-this-first-9?replies=1

Hi there and “guten Morgen” Pascal,
thank you for thoughts! 🙂
A few minutes ago I was reading an article about the multisite feature of wordpress. I of course heard about that in the past. But never really thought about it in deep …
What I don’t understand is, if I would try to build a forum as a “subsite” with the multisite ability, if users, who register on the “subsite” would be also registered on the mainsite? … I don’t get it 😉
Best regards and “Liebe Grüße” ! 🙂
Torsten
Guten Morgen Torsten,
My doubt was on the double users you would have, but if (except the admins) nobody else has a current account, then you won’t have that issue.
You could go for a separate WordPress and bbPress installation, but… :
– Speed: If you put both on the same physical machine, inside the same shared account or on the same SQL behind, then you will not gain, you might even loose as you have 2 WordPress instances running
– Security: Over the years the security of WordPress has increased a lot and if you are careful with plugins and custom installs, I don’t see why an extra instance would be needed.
I would like to add the burden of having to update 2 WordPress instances with anyway the same version, theme, customizations, …
But of course it’s your choice !
Let’s see if other have a different opinion,
freundliche Grüße,
Pascal.
Hello dear bbpress team and community! 🙂
I would like to create and run a forum on our magazine site (http://www.1-2-family.de). Of course my first choice is bbpress.
The thing is, that I would like to separate the whole database (for security and speed reasons?) from the ones of the magazine. So I thought to create a subfolder (or a subdomain?) to install a second instance of wordpress. And then fill it with the same theme of the magazine all needed plugins (such as bbpress) to just run the community (forum) on this subfolder (or subdomain).
Would this be a good choice? I just dont’t want anybody beeing able to register in to the wordpress system, where the magazine is running. It’s just a weird feeling to me …
Warmest regards 🙂
Torsten

But version number is still listed as 2.5.8
BBPress Blog indicates 2.5.8 came out July 13th, 2015.
Why is this?
Hi Casipea,
I have one button “New Topic” When I click on that I open new page which is added from pages admin section in that page only shortcode added “[bbp-topic-form]” . and this page only for paticipants.
Sometimes new topic added successfully sometimes not mostly not added
And on other page where we listing all topics and at bottom there is one form for new topic add.
From this new topic is not going to add sometimes added.
Wordpress : 4.3.1
BBPress: bbPress 2.5.8-5815.
Hi,
If you want to use the same permissions/capabilities on all your forums, then a new custom role with the above capabilities is the best way to go.
If you want to ‘protect’ only some of your (sub)forums against new topic creation, then you can use my bbP Toolkit plugin (https://wordpress.org/plugins/bbp-toolkit/).
Pascal.
Hey guys,
I want to add a forum to my companies website, so we can improve our retention rate and increase our return rate.
I should be able to add buddypress to the site right ? I’ve never done this before and don’t know exactly where to begin. The website is http://dallastechsolutions.com – the forum would be somewhere on the menu bar.
Basically, we’re wanting to add a forum onto the menu bar, so that business owners can ask questions and get free advice before actually committing to professional help.
If you have any suggestions on how to go about this, i would really appreciate the help.
Thank you!
The bbp-style-pack lets you change what the breadcrumbs say (and shows what they are)
Install and go to dashboard>settings>bbp style pack>breadcrumbs
https://wordpress.org/plugins/bbp-style-pack/
If that’s not what you meant, then come back
SESAME Net Forum
wordpress 4.4.1 – bbpress 2.5.8 – ultimate member 1.3.35
on profile page of every user the site gives 404 page not found.
After the bbpress instalation the wordpress use this custom structure
/index.php/%year%/%monthnum%/%day%/%postname%/
thanx

Make sure your using the correct database prefix, most phpBB tables will be named something like phpbb_posts, in that case the database prefix is phpbb_
If you are importing from phpBB 3.1 then you can test the new importer via our bbPress “development version” aka bbPress 2.6 alpha, theres some new import improvements, you can get this from the following page or direct link:
• https://downloads.wordpress.org/plugin/bbpress.zip
