    I’d still prefer to see the database schema, not data that’s already been parsed.

    From what I can see you’ve got various issues with that WXR data:

    • <wp:post_type><![CDATA[topic]]></wp:post_type> <- topic shouldn’t be wrapped in ![CDATA[ / ]], I’m not sure if that or any other instances apart from content will be affected by this.

    • _wp_page_template shouldn’t be included, if the post_type was page, then yes, but topic post type shouldn’t have a _wp_page_template meta key, again, I’ve no idea what the resultant behaviour of this would be, maybe ok, maybe not.

    • You have the following, which is correct: 1327 is the “forum ID”

    `
    <wp:postmeta>
    <wp:meta_key><![CDATA[_bbp_forum_id]]></wp:meta_key>
    <wp:meta_value><![CDATA[1327]]></wp:meta_value>
    </wp:postmeta>
    `

    • Just above the above, you have the following which is *not* correct, post_parent is *not* “post meta”, this should be in the wp_posts table and *not wp_postmeta

    `
    <wp:postmeta>
    <wp:meta_key><![CDATA[post_parent]]></wp:meta_key>
    <wp:meta_value><![CDATA[1327]]></wp:meta_value>
    </wp:postmeta>
    `

    • Closer to the top of your code you have <wp:post_parent>0</wp:post_parent>, this is where the post_parent should include that 1327 forum id.

    I suspect if you can get 1327 into that last item above you’ll be all set, or at least progressed somewhat, I’m pretty sure the repair tools will be able to recalculate the topic meta once that is in, so that’s another option to repair any meta issues.

    This might be a handy reference https://codex.wordpress.org/Database_Description

    Also checkout https://bbpress.trac.wordpress.org/ticket/2516, the file attached to that ticket is a pretty comprehensive WXR XML file of forum, topics, and replies layed out per the description in that ticket, it might be worth importing into a test site to help visualise the data when looking at the source of the XML file 🙂

    Hi,
    If you are uncomfortable with finding CSS yourself, have a look at https://wordpress.org/plugins/bbp-style-pack/ if it would serve your need.

    Yes after installing bbpress your plugin works, but it is not quite doing what we want.

    It has options to migrate all wordpress comments to bbpress but it does not open this migration under the individual posts.

    we want the forum to replace the wordpress comment section, meaning the existing comments should be be replaced with bbpress forum under all the relevant post, so that next time the user wants to comment he has to comment using the bbpress box under the posts.

    I hope you can arrange this facility in your plugin…then it will be just great!!
    thank you very much.

    Hi,

    Been looking through here for quite a while, am wanting to change the styling of the edit post screen. Currently it’s got a red background *urk* and looks bad. It’s probably inherited from my main theme I don’t know.

    Can someone point me where the styling for the post edit screen is. I tried using an editor but it only shows styles that seem to be for main posts.

    Latest BBpress,latest WordPress. No link as it’s an edit screen, but you can view the site at https://jwfsanctuary.club

    Hi @tarao,

    I don’t think you can obtain this without coding.

    A theme is set for the whole of WordPress, including bbPress. So I suppose you would need to have 1 theme, and in that theme depending on the forum you are in, you could have different styles.

    Wordpress Version:4.9.2
    bbPress Version: 2.5.14
    Site: http://www.avaiya.com

    I just installed bbPress a few days ago and I see it automatically created this page:

    https://www.avaiya.com/forums/

    But when you click on it it doesn’t have the actual forum on it. It seems like this should be the main forum page, with all our Categories & Forums listed on that page.

    I then watched a tutorial and realized I needed to create a page with the bbpress forum index shortcode. So I did that on the page below and now this page shows all the forums & categories on it.

    Enlightenment Village – Community

    The issue I still see, however, is that if you’re on one of the forum pages:

    https://www.avaiya.com/forums/forum/community-discussions/

    You still see the “Forum” text near the top and if you click on it it takes you
    back to this page: https://www.avaiya.com/forums/

    How can I fix this?

    Thanks!

    @makingcircuits,
    Really? I’ll check!
    If you could eventually post it on the support forum of the plugin https://wordpress.org/support/plugin/bbp-move-topics because this is not really bbPress related.

    UPDATE: You have bbPress running? I was probably able to simulate the error.

    Thanks!

    @Pascal…That’s great, thank you!

    Let me check out this plugin, I’ll revert soon with the results and let everyone know whether it fulfills the required purpose of converting existing wordpress comment into bbpress comments.

    By the way thanks very much for updating the plugin.

    see you all soon

    The download issue was caused by wordpress.org migrated to new servers and a new data centre, and there were a few issues, they have switched back the affected servers I believe and this should be fixed.

    If you continue to see errors please make a comment on this #meta ticket

    https://meta.trac.wordpress.org/ticket/3383

    I’ll look into the anonymous posting issue for you, are you using bbPress 2.5 or 2.6?

    I think this was fixed for bbPress 2.6, can you try using 2.6-RC-5, the download link is available on https://bbpress.org/download/

    Thank you Stephen.

    On my local computer where everything worked fine, I’m trying to update WordPress in Russian, but got the following:

    Обновить WordPress

    Скачивание обновления из https://downloads.wordpress.org/release/ru_RU/wordpress-4.9.2.zip…

    Fatal error: Maximum execution time of 30 seconds exceeded in C:\xampp\htdocs\forum\wp-includes\Requests\Transport\cURL.php on line 463

    As you can see there is fatal error. What’s going on and how to fix it?

    Out of curiosity, on this profile page on the WordPress.com forums, I see only 3 posts but it occupies 3 pages with the 2nd and 3rd being blank. What causes this behavior?

    since bbpress just uses wordpress then anything that works in wordpress

    eg code

    https://stackoverflow.com/questions/21928355/list-currently-logged-in-users-wordpress

    or plugin

    WP-UserOnline

    There are probably lots more examples, I just googled ‘wordpress list logged in users plugin’

    Hi,

    I don’t think this is a general question since bbpress states to be compatible with Yoast and Tsf when it is not (at least when it comes to noindex pages) so, imho, it is a BBpress problem.

    https://github.com/sybrew/the-seo-framework/issues/243

    I asked the same question on wp support anyway and still didnt get any answers (it took almost one week to have one here so I guess I’ll be waiting for some days there as well – https://wordpress.org/support/topic/noidex-metatag-to-groups-of-pages/)

    I added your code (thank you for writing it down) but I only see a white page afterwards.

    I added it to functions.php in wpcontent/themes/forum/ is it correct?

    Thank you,

    the Process

    @dzonny,

    First of all, for the export/import, consider the v2.6 of bbPress as exporting and importing has been improved. It’s a release candidate but very stable: https://bbpress.org/download/

    To export: Tools > Export and select forums, topics and replies
    To import: Tools > Import and choose WordPress

    @haddlyapis, no, bbPress should follow the WordPress settings.

    So not really sure what would have caused this…

    Hi,

    This is a general WP question and would fit better on the general support pages on https://wordpress.org/support/

    But just give you a starting point for e.g. the archives, adding this in your functions.php might help:

    add_action( 'wp_head', 'casiepa_add_noindex' );
    function casiepa_add_noindex() {
      if ( is_archive() ) {
        echo '<meta name="robots" content="noindex,follow" />';
      }
    }

    Apologies @tesicg, I presumed you were using IIS because Windows 2008 Server R2 😉

    Ignore the IIS suggestion I made, you’re using XAMPP so they would be useless.

    For translations check your WordPress updates page for any available translation updates, both bbPress 2.5.x (the current release) and upcoming 2.6.x releases are 100% translated into Russian: https://translate.wordpress.org/locale/ru/default/wp-plugins/bbpress

    There might have been a fix for “port conflicts” in the upcoming bbPress 2.6, could you try that and see if it is fixed please? https://bbpress.org/download/

    If 2.6 doesn’t fix it could you add details on whats different between your 2008 Server and Windows 7 install, strange that XAMPP works on one and not the other

    Bonjour @matevoun,
    Il y en a qui comprennent oui 🙂

    – You can open your forum to everybody, so they do not need to create a login (see the settings in your wp-admin: Réglages > Discussion
    – Yes and no. The theme that you choose for WordPress is the team used for bbPress. However you can restyle the CSS yourself or use a plugin like https://wordpress.org/plugins/bbp-style-pack/
    – Everything is saved in the standard WordPress style: so like a custom post type
    – bbPress is a plugin, so just install it and you will see it pop up in your menu: Forums, Topics, replies.

    Pascal.
    PS: 2/3 questions? J’en vois 4… :-p

    bbpress does not directly provide for image upload, so you’ll need to use a plugin such as

    GD bbPress Attachments

    Whatvere plugin you use, suggest you contact that plugins author for what works well with it

    Hello,

    I have checked this plugin and it still works nicely at the moment.
    I have followed the suggestions provided by “makingcircuits” in one of the other threads, and could convert all my existing wordpress comments to bbpress forum discussion with a few clicks.
    I think this is a unique feature which only bbpress is able to provide with the help of this plugin, therefore we really want this plugin to be maintained and updated from time to time so the users can feel comfortable about implementing for the said purpose.
    I have tons of comments in wordpress which are not getting indexed by Google, therefore turning them into forum can instantly provide a huge SEO boost for these comments and could hugely improve the search engine presence of my site.
    However I could go ahead with this only when I feel assured that the mentioned plugin would be maintained regularly by the author or if there could be an alternative to this plugin.

    The plugin looks very useful and enables only bbpress with this very crucial feature of turning wordpress comments into bbpress forum, with just a few clicks.

    I hope somebody will take an initiative in this regard

    I presume Rkk has deleted.

    my styles pack plugin has a shortcode

    [Profile label=’This is the label’] will show

    which will let you add that as a text box beneath the standard bbpress login.

    bbp style pack

    once installed and activated – go to

    dashboard>settings>bbp style pack>shortcodes to find what the options are

    The existing plugin “bbpress topics for posts” by Mr. David Dean is too old and seems like it is now no longer being updated and almost abandoned by the owner, therefore I would request bbpress or somebody here to take over this plugin or create an alternative for this plugin.
    It is because this is the only plugin which allows merging existing wordpress comments with bbpress forum.
    I have successfully tried the procedures and could merge my earlier regular wordpress comments inside bbpress under every post.
    So this plugin is very important considering that it converts your ordinary wordpress comments into SEO rich bbpress forum replies.
    Please help! I would really appreciate if somebody could come with a similar version of this plugin
