one of the plugin I am using to hide my admin panel URL (wp-admin) for WordPress site, its WPS Hide Login but I am not sure if it is also used in forums or not!!

Hallo my WordPress version is 4.9.6, bbPress version 2.5.14, i dont have a site im now install WP and bbPress on my localhost computer and im learning, i please of advice.
Im new in wordpress i want use bbpress commercially. I am looking for a solution which after payment of paypal, credit card, debit cart, automatically assigned to the user points that he could use for example his topic (in bbPress) would be sticked on top of the list etc. At the same time the plugin would protect against chargeback, etc.

Hello there!

Ever since starting to work with bbPress (and Learnpress), all new users were assigned the site roles ‘subscriber, and participant’ and the forum role ‘instructor’.

I don’t want all forum users to have the role ‘instructor’, since they aren’t. I have checked, but my default is really set to participant.

How can I make sure people will be assigned a normal forum role instead?

When the Search EVerything plugin is activated, the topics won’t appear. What I did was deactivated all the plugins and reactivated them one by one to see what causes the problem. It was the Search Everyhing plugin.

I also deactivated the “Allow forum wide search” from the forum settings but it’s the same.

By the way, I am using the bbpress plugin inside a multisite. I’m not sure if that helps or not.

Is there a way to fix this?

I would like to be able to put some text information above my forum on my forum page. Does anyone know how to go about doing that in WordPress??

There should be a way to make your page with text above the forum.

Running WordPress 4.9.5, bbPress 2.5.14, Buddypress 2.9.4

Forums are randomly becoming inaccessible to logged-in users, displaying only the “no topics found” message despite showing the appropriate number of topics in the forum listings. Most forums are rendered inaccessible when the error occurs, but not all. Forums that remain accessible show no obvious difference in configuration or status from the forums that display the “no topics found” message.

Problem persists regardless of theme or plugin configuration.

• I’ve tried both wpfix plugins, neither fixed the problem.
• I tried deactivating and reactivating all plugins on the actual site to no effect, then created a clone of the site and deactivated and deleted all plugins except bbPress, Buddypress, and the wpfix plugins. The problem persists.
• I’ve switched to the latest version of Twentyseventeen and the problem persists.
• I’ve tried using both Forum Tools and Buddypress tools to repair issues, to no effect.
• Also tried resetting permalinks, no effect

The only thing that repairs the issue is switching each forum to public, saving the forum, then returning the forum to private status and saving again. Bulk edit doesn’t work — only updating each forum individually.

After being fixed, the forums sometimes slip back into inaccessibility, even if no change has been made to the forum itself.

Any help in fixing this issue would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

We are using bbPress Version 2.5.14 on our website at http://www.nationalbraille.org/forums using WordPress. Everything is latest version and all is up to date.

I’d like to add a list of site rules on this page just above the list of groups. I thought I’d find it in the list of Pages on our website, but it’s not there, and the Settings for bbPress don’t give me an option either.

Is this just not possible?

After activating bbPress plugin:

– no “Welcome” page appears
– No “Forums” menu appears in admin bar
– No “Forums” appears in Settings sub-menu
– Any “Forum” activity from Dashboard, results in error: “Sorry, you are not allowed to edit posts in this post type.”
– Administrator” accounts are given new role: Keymaster, but Keymaster role appears to have no Forums capabilities; adding capabilities does not change behavior described above.

Hi!

I am trying to make any topics and replies submitted on the front end have a default category (I have extended the custom post type of bbPress to support categories). This works for everything submitted on the back end, but not everything submitted on the front end. I have played around with this a lot, and have not made any progress.

I am using WordPress 4.9.5, bbPress 2.5.14 and the site I am working on (locked so this link probably won’t do any good) is https://gateway.aishasalem.com

I had recently started a blog on WordPress. Now I want to start a discussion froum that is fully compatiable with the installed wordpress. Right now, the option available with me is SMF forum ( this is because I am already using it for other website). But in this case, forum and website will work seprately.

So, I have decided to drop the plan of SMF forum and look something similar to it and related to WordPress.

To simply, I am looking for the forum which will get easily intergrated with my blog

Of course, it should get fully integrated with the wordpress.

Will bbpress with suffice my purpose. Please guide me in installing it on my wordpress. Sorry for the bad english. English is not my first language.

Jetpack seems to work; running it dev mod so no login require to wordpress account.

Initially was using because jetpack was causing template formatting issue but now seem that is not the case.

In setting I only selected topics and it worked so far.

Robin, I installed the bbp-style-pack plugin. But there is not option to edit a single forum link. I saw options to change home link and forums link.

I created a Single forum page with short code: [bbp-single-forum id=12]. I disabled the forums slug on the bread crumbs

From here when I click on the student forum it redirects me to the student forum and not the page I created with the student forum short code in it.

from the single forum page I navigate to one of the topics. when I click on the single forum page link it redirects me to the single forum but not to the page I created. Hi Everyone, I am super frustrated with BBPress… I have been working on my forum and whenever anyone replies, the reply goes to the top of the page in a white box. And, whenever a new reply comes in, it replaces the previous reply at the top of the page with the new reply. I have the threading section of WordPress already enabled so I am confused on why the reply is even going there at all. PLEASE HELP ME!! I cant find any information on any previous questions on the blog here and nobody from wordpress has successfully been able to help me.

Hi folks,

Our forum is getting spammed by bots pretty bad, to the tune of 200-300 new spam topics per day. It’s a battle to clean it every hour.

We have Akismet enabled and it’s picking up some of the spam topics on the bbPress forum. I feel like if I mark more of the spam topics as spam, Akismet will do a better job. But here’s the catch.

The bbPress moderation page doesn’t give me the ability to mark topics as spam in bulk. I can only mark new topics as spam one-by-one, which makes moderation extremely more tedious and time-consuming.

Is there a way to mark topics as spam in bulk (selecting multiple topics, and using the moderation drop-down)? I currently my only options in the drop-down are “Move to Trash” and “Edit”. I can mark bulk spam comments on our WordPress blog as spam, but not with bbPress.

There is a whole wordpress group looking at GDPR compliance.

In all honesty I don’t think anyone knows what ‘compliance’ means – even the regulators in my country (UK) cannot explain it in any terms that mean anything useful. The rest of this response is just my view from a lot of reading AND NOT ANY OFFICIAL BBPRESS OR OTHER VIEW!

In general terms, your as data controller and/or data processor need to explain what personal data you hold, why, and what processes it goes through, and whether it is passed to anyone else and for what purpose, and obtain their positive consent to your holding and processing that data.

So you might on signup want to say that you gather username, firstname, lastname and email in order that you can open a user account, let the user login, be able to identify the user and communicate with them. Usernames, first and last names will be published on the site and in forum profiles, topics and replies, but email addresses will only be visible to administrators of the site. None of this information is shared with other parties, or used for any other purposes.

However I have been sent some sites guesses at a GDPR statement that run to several pages.

But most of that is wordpress related (eg what info you captured as part of registration), rather than an issue of bbpress. You may want to think about letting user a see user b’s profile, so may want to alert users to what profile information is shown, as per my attempt above.

The real bbpress issue relates to the right to be forgotten – and I have frankly given up trying to understand that. So if user x publishes lots of posts, and then asks for all their ‘personal data’ to be deleted – is stuff that they published as topics and replies for all the other users to see counted as ‘personal’, and is stuff that others posted about them ‘personal’. Given that facebook lets you close an account, but doesn’t delete comments you have made, I suspect that this is information that you have put in the public domain, rather than personal data, but I am not a lawyer ! I’d also suspect that since the papers frequently mention celebrity gaffs where they have say tweeted and then deleted some stupid comment, that again that is not personal data.

The only thing that GDPR will do is keep lawyers and consultants busy.

I am looking for a solution to this problem. I want to be able to forward an email to WordPress, as one can do But instead of, or as well as creating a post I want it to create a forum entry. The reason being is the email will be questions that need answering. Hope that make sense

I use this function to display the total topics count for a single forum: bbp_get_forum_topic_count

If I change the forum parent to –No Parent —, the topic dissapears from forum section but the count does not change. See the image below:
