Hi, I have this small little issue regarding the e-mail address’s whenever someone receives and e-mail from my BBpress forum, or even when I receive an e-mail from my site regarding BBpress. Whenever someone signs up as a user on my forum, they get an email from username@box551.bluehost.com with their username and password. I have no idea why it’s from username@box551.bluehost.com, because my admin settings are set up for a different gmail account. I was on the phone with bluehost (my web hosting company) for a good hour and they tried everything they could and finally suggested that it was on BBPress’s end, and not theirs. So how would I change the default e-mail address to username@gmail.com and not username@box551.bluehost.com when ever myself or a registered user to my BBpress forum receives an e-mail?

I’m running the latest version of WordPress with BBpress 2.2.2.

Any help would greatly be appreciated! 🙂

Replied back! I would look forward to helping more people get rid of the crappy vbulletin service that they have to pay for it, and come to open source wordpress/bbpress/etc.

I just hope this serves as an opportunity for us to push wordpress/bbpress/buddypress further.

Let me know if there’s anything else I can do to help you guys, help me, help wordpress. LOL

    Hi Everyone,
first of all, I’m new to bbPress and I think this wordpress’s plugin is really fantastic for me.

And now I stuck with this. I would like to remove ‘Sticky Topic’ capability from Moderator role.
    So, how to do this?

I wouldn’t like to allow Moderator can Sticking any topic. And also can’t create topic with ability to choose Topic Type (Normal,Stick,Super Stick)

Many thanks for advance for any help 🙂

So my bbPress forum worked fine for a few months. I can’t remember if I updated anything but since a few weeks it doesn’t work anymore.
The problem is, that it doesn’t show the content of the forums. There’s the heading of the forum but nothing else. Here’s how it looks like:
    http://bookish.brokenstars.de/forums/
    http://bookish.brokenstars.de/forums/forum/bookish-intern/
    http://bookish.brokenstars.de/intern/ (normal site with shortcode)

    I’m using WordPress 3.5 and bbPress 2.2.3
Nothing seems to help. I’ve repaired and reset all the forums. I’ve deleted the plugin and the data from the database. I’ve reset the permalink structure… but it just doesn’t show up anymore.

Does anyone have an idea what the problem could be?
    Thanks!

I have not tried this (nor have I tried a custom pomo myself yet) so how well this would all work and fit together could get nasty quite quickly 🙂

You could setup WordPress as a ‘multisite’ and have custom PO MO files on each site…

There are no known bugs regarding shortcodes so they should work on your site.

    • Create a new WordPress page via /wp-admin/post-new.php?post_type=page
    • Give the page a title
    • Add for example to login shortcode `[bbp-login]` to the page content
    • Click publish and view your new page

I go through the standard plugin search, installation and activation sequence… only to have my entire wordpress site not display at all afterwards. After pressing the “activation” link for bbpress I get forwarded to the “about” page and it displays a blank page… no admin tool bar, nothing… just white. Same goes for the root of my wordpress site. I remove the bbpress folder from wp-content>plugins and the entire site re-appears.

    any thoughts?

I am very new to WordPress/bbPress and am teaching myself through forum posts. I am stuck right now and have searched but cannot find a clear answer to this problem.

I have created several forums here:

However, I can’t figure out why the archive page displays in two columns, while the actual forum pages display in one column, which is what I want.

    Thank you for your help!

Wow! Excellent! Thanks for the kind words!

P.S. I fixed a bug with UTF8 display names. You’re helping fix things just by posting! 🙂

This is now fixed in /trunk/ and will be in the next release of bbPress, I also confirmed it in ticket #2138 (see the screenshot here)

    @Rasheed
I also recommended @Yousef-Matios post on the Polyglots blog here. regarding the Arabic translation of bbPress which he has and is more than willing to share. Can you also reply to that thread and update Yousef on how he can best help get the remaining Arabic translations needed at https://translate.wordpress.org/projects/bbpress/dev/ar/default

The (0,0) are the counts for the number of topics and replies in that child forum.

To list the child forums vertically rather than horizontally add the code from the following to your WordPress theme functions.php file https://gist.github.com/3797945

I’ll point you to have a read the following two threads first:

They both link to https://bbpress.trac.wordpress.org/ticket/2089#comment:6 which has some thoughts on potential directions for bbPress privacy & visibility of forums.

From that error it appears and is actually the case that not all of the files for bbPress were updated on your web host when you updated bbPress.

Make a backup of your site and database

    – Open your WordPress Admin Dashboard and go to Plugins

    – Deactivate the bbPress plugin (It should already be deactivated)

    – Delete the bbPress plugin and accept the confirmation that it will delete those files

    – Download the bbPress plugin again from the ‘Add New’ plugins section

    – Activate the bbPress plugin

You should be all good to go now presuming this time your web host has downloaded and extracted all the files correctly to your site.

ps. If you ever do need to download a current or previous version you can download them in .zip form to manually extract and upload via FTP to your web host via https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/bbpress/developers/
(The current version of bbPress at the time of writing is bbPress 2.2.3)

If you have downloaded a new WordPress theme that includes bbPress support you activate the theme from the WordPress Dashboard -> Appearance -> Themes ( /wp-admin/themes.php)

There are also some docs here on Getting Started with bbPress

I’m having the same issue, and I’m wondering if anyone has found a solution. I’ve been browsing these forums (as well as other sites) for a couple of hours and haven’t yet found anything that works.

I’m using WordPress 3.5, BuddyPress 1.6.2, and bbPress 2.2.3. I am using the BuddyPress Default theme.

    Thanks so much!

Is this the base of what teamoverpowered was built with to get the hierarchical forums setup?

I’ve been keeping an eye out on #1958 and was curious if this theme solves those issues as I have been trying to replicate a vb style bbPress theme for some time now. As I have 400k topics, I have to be extremely careful on the efficiency of the queries used.

When I updated to the latest plugin version today it triggered a fatal error. We were updating because the forums had stopped showing any new posts since Dec. 16 and thought maybe an updated plugin might help. We are still using WordPress version 3.4.2 due to being in the middle of changing servers. My friend has requested that we go back to the previous plugin since at least the forums were showing up, albeit frozen, while she finds a bbPress expert. Problem is, I never had a copy of the bbPress plugin—I downloaded it from the WordPress Plugin site, which now shows only the most recent version. Can anyone tell me where I could find an earlier version of the plugin to download? Also, any thoughts where we can find someone to help us with our ongoing bbPress issues? Thanks very much.

Here is the error, which unfortunately is gibberish to me:
Plugin could not be activated because it triggered a fatal error.

Hi, I tried to install your them but it doesn’t change a thing.
I have put the files in the right folder : wordpress/wp-content/themes/bbPress-starter-theme-epicwebs-master

But nothing changes after that and in the themes windows it says that the theme is corrupted because it lacks the style.css file.

I am so frustrated with bbPress. I wanted to be rid of my phpbb forum…. when I found that wordpress had its own sort forum, I was excited. I loaded it, got it all set up…. I made several posts… over 70 posts for a matter of fact…now I am having a problem.

I am reposting a lot of old logs from the previous phpbb forum onto the bbpress. And I have hit a block to where bbpress will no longer make new posts. I imagine that this is a problem on my mysql/database side…. but I can’t find any info on it and don’t know how to figure it out….as I am still learning databases and such.

I still have over a years worth of logs to load….. but yet it seems as though bbpress or wordpress has hit is limit of what I can post?

Does anyone know what I can do? Is there a setting on wordpress, bbpress or mysql database that can be make to allow me to continue? Or should I just stay with the old phpBB forum that I already have and leave bbpress alone?

I am using bbpress 2.2.3 and wordpress 3.5
