I have updated the SMF Importer and you can download the latest again via the same links in my original post above.
Fixed:

• Forum parent hierarchy
• Imported Replies now import correctly
• User Display Name

Outstanding:

• User Passwords
• Custom BBCode for Topic & Reply Content

NOTE: If you are importing ‘users’ during the import you will see multiple instances of the following two error messages:-

• Notice: Undefined variable: user_pass in /home/webhost/public_html/wp-includes/user.php on line 1305
• Notice: Undefined index: salt in /home/webhost/public_html/wp-content/plugins/bbpress/includes/admin/converters/SMF.php on line 566

These can both be ignored and only relates to the current non-working state of converting user passwords. If you need to login (or users login) they will just need to reset their WordPress password to be able to login.

When I insert links into a reply for a topic via the the link option or by inputting html directly, it never shows up in the reply. In fact if my reply consists only of a link and no text apart from it, ll i get is an empty\blank reply to the topic. I’ve tried this with different user roles too, since i suspected the ability to post unrestricted html might’ve been the problem, but no such luck. I’m relatively new to wordpress, so i apologise if this has an obvious fix or an apparent reason.

I installed BBpress, the newest version to the newest version of WordPress. So I used this plugin version of BBpress. The forum installs, I can load the XML export file that is an export of a recent forum that I have to manage elsewhere, it is accepted by the new installation. From the dashboard, if I click view the Forum in tha forum management section, it takes me to the forum, everything is visible, cathegories, posts, member. But, the only problem is that the forum is not accessible on any link from my WordPress frontpage. Why is it so? How can I make it visible on the front page? I just want to make this new site to be a forum, so the forum frontpage should be ont he WordPress core site frontpage, but it is not there. Also if I type /forum after my domain name, the browser reports error, as if the forum doesn’t exsist. But from the dashboard, I can open the forum. What can be the problenm?

Hello all, I am currently setting up a website for my classroom (school starts in a month). I would LOVE to set up a class forum for each class. If you look at my site (http://www.blackboarddreams.com) you will see that I have forum links under my sophomore and human condition classes. I can post with no problems! But a couple of issues beyond that:
1. I see in “menus” there is a bbpress sidebar. I have no idea how to actually make that show up on my webpage (ideally homepage).
2. Giving up on the above, I can post the bbpress login widget (currently have it in a footer). Yet, when I logout and simply visit my page, upon clicking the register link I am taken to the wordpress login page with the following in red: “User registration is currently not allowed.” How can I allow registration? Further, this registration is simply to allow my students to access the forum, correct?

This might sound like a wild hack in the dark but I thought I’d have a go at simply making the second parameter an array, like so:

I was hoping that someone could tell me if there is there a way to display a list of child forums for specific parent using a shortcode?

For example, I have a number of private member forums that visitors need to login to view. I want to have a page that they visit to logon with the list of private forums below.

2) The best way to speed up the conversion is to run it locally rather than on your remote host. For some of the bigger sites I have converted I setup a local install which allowed me to tweak some RAM settings and use local fast hard disks which helped a great deal. One of the larger conversions I actually setup a 4GB RAM drive for all the MySQL data and that really made things hum along quickly. Once it was complete I dumped the MySQL database to a file and FTP’d it back up to the remote host and imported it ‘ready to go’ so to speak.

1) As for importing passwords I will get back to you on, I have three new importers (Drupal, MyBB & PunBB) that I need to get this sorted out for and I will be looking into ‘getting this right’ over the next couple of days. The bbPress1 passwords were easy as they are already an actual WordPress password so they are basically just copied from bbPress -> WordPress.

XYZ Blog = http://xyz.mainsite.com

Can the group forums integrate to the site? So if a post is made on the site it will show back on the group page or if on the group page it will go back to the site?

If that is not possible, is it possible to at least display the group forum data on the subsite with a shortcode or something?

I previously ran phpBB which had this feature, and I need it.

I just had to click 15 separate categories to find a new post, which I didn’t find, even though the author emailed me to say he posted.

I installed the bbPress and created 3 different public forums.
These 3 forums are used for medical issues: Nutrition, Physiotherapy and a Pulmonary doctor consultant.
Each forum is managed by a professional for the specific issue. That’s why i created 3 different users in WordPress and changed their permission to “Moderator”, But when each one of them is logged in to the admin,he/she can enter topics or Reply section and change other people content.
Is there a way to associate user to a specific forum where he only manages his own content? In other words, the user doesn’t have access to other forums in the admin and doesn’t have access to edit forums in the website which he is not associated with.
Can s2Member be one solution? if yes, how? i really got lost with the tutorials about that or just couldn’t find a good one.

I am having the same problem. I get this error while creating a group from website admin area. When I create group from there it takes me to the front end of website. I gives the error on “Step 3 Forum”.
