Hi all,
I see in the plugin https://wordpress.org/plugins/bbp-toolkit/ there is an option for admin to add and remove member subscriptions to forums and topics but this plugin is out of date and not being maintained.
Does anyone know of another plugin that lets admin control the subscriptions of bbpress members?
Thanks
So latest wordpress and bbpress forum..
nothing worked when I tried to import SMF database..
So I then created a mybb forum and used there importer, which after charset issues, imported the SMF forum stuff fine..
so now back to bbpress, to import from mybb, and still nothing.. it starts and does nothing else just like before with it trying to import from the smf db..
all the options are correct ie db name/pass/port etc… I don’t get it, it says nothing as to why its not processing anything, just stuck at first step doing nothing.
Is this importer even working?
probably it is various email filters stopping – email providers constantly fight spam emails, and if yours are seeming to not come from authorised smtp address, then some will stop. that might explain why recipients get and some don’t.
so 1st – I’d make sure that the sending email address is a real one from your site. by default bbpress sends from noreply@yoursite you could use
bbp style pack
once activated go to
dashboard>settings>bbp style pack>Subscription Emails to change
next I’d set up smtp.
get the smtp settings from your hoster, you’ll need
SMTP Host eg smtp.myco.com
Encryption none/tls/ssl
SMTP Port eg 587
Authentication on/off ?
and the email and pw for whatever you are sending from
the use
WP Mail SMTP by WPForms – The Most Popular SMTP and Email Log Plugin
to set up smtp – the free version is fine
finally I’d add the ‘check and log email’ plugin to see what is happening
Check & Log Email
sorry it is free software designed to work under wordporess, so little chance of anyone writing an app let alone for free
bbpress display well under many many themes on a mobile, the problem is knowing what you think it should look like.
You could try
bbp style pack
which would let you set most of the aspects.
This plugin lets you notify roles such as admin on new posts
bbPress Notify (No-Spam)
WordPress displays a Subscribed box in the BBPress forum post page (admin access), which lists all users who have clicked the ‘Subscribe’ button. Unfortunately the avatar images are tiny and some are very similar. Is it possible to change the avatars to usernames?
WordPress 6.0.2 running OceanWP theme. BBPress version 2.6.9

@milfuegos – this is free software and the forums rely on volunteers such as myself, who get no payment.
Responses to questions may or may not happen.
I cannot say why offhand you youtube does not embed for users – it might be a wordpress admin or bbpress keymaster that allows this, I’d suggest you try combinations of permissions to see if you can work out which permission is preventing.
you previous questions relate to you wishing features that are not native to bbpress, I might look at these when I get time, but I am away on holiday this week.

I think you are using the new 2022 theme, which is a block theme
Install
bbp style pack
once activated, navigate to
dashboard>settings>bbp style pack, and you should see the first tab called ‘Theme Support’ – if yoi don’t see this, come back.
In that tab, select
Enable Theme Support
and save
The forums should then display
this error is in the gd-bbpress-tools plugin
you need to report it here

most people put the login widget in the sidebar, which then shows the profile.
alternately you can use this plugin to add it to the menu
bbp style pack
once activated go to
dashboard>settings>bbp style pack>login
I cannot replicate this on my test site – I presume you have this as the statistics widget?
if so it could be a theme or plugin issue
Themes
As a test switch to a default theme such as twentytwenty, and see if this fixes.
Plugins
If that doesn’t work, also deactivate all plugins apart from bbpress and see if this fixes. if it does, re-enable one at a time to see which is causing the error.
If you cannot do this to your site (say because it is live) then use the ‘troubleshooting’ features of this plugin to let you test without affecting other users

I am making a website with Japanese pages and English pages. I have made a forum in Japanese using bbpress of Japanese version. Now, I want to make a forum in English. I tried plugin, Polylang, to make English forum from the Japanese forum but can not change the Japanese notes on it. How can I make the English forum?
WordPress: 6.0.1
bbPress: 2.6.9 (Japanese)
The website is under making and not open to the public yet.
bbp style pack
once activated go to
dashboard>settings>bbp style pack>Topic/Reply Form
and look at item 18
it could be a theme or plugin issue

Hi there,
i’ve got a Problem with my bbpress forum.
When I want to view a topic in the Frontend, then i stare at a blank page
After creating a new WordPress site and using the shortcode “[bbp-single-topic id=$topic_id]” it works.
So I can only view the Topic after creating a WordPress page for it.
Is there a Way WordPress creates automatic a Page for a new Topic, with the necessary Shortcode?
Maybe there is another solution for my problem.
I look forward to your replies and thank you in advance 🙂
ok.
there are dozens of editors that are add-ons for wordpress, some work well with bbptress custom post types, some not so well.
Is there a particular issue with using the wp standard editor for this part?
ok, so you are correct that topics and replies should be public.
You don’t say how you detected a brute force, and if these were default or easily guessed usernames etc. The whole idea of a brute force attack is to try loads of usernames in the hope one is correct.
bbpress just uses WordPress login, so if you were seeing login attempts this might be just a plain brute force on a wordpress site, unrelated to bbpress.
Identifying users would be unlikely to come from a topic display, given that a private forum does not show public topics either on screen or through rss.
However bbpress does have a profile page which is publicly displayable, and that might be a route. ie if the profile page of a display name does not 404, then username is valid.
you can use :
bbp style pack
once activated go to
dashboard>settings>bbp style pack>Profile
where you can choose who to display profiles to, and therefore prevent profile pages of your users being identifiable.
ok, I’ve just tried this on my test site with just twentyten and bbppress and it sends with carriage returns, so possible that the email system you are using or indeed the email recipient software is stripping – may be may not be.
otherwise it could be a theme or plugin issue

bbp style pack
once activated go to

you will see and option to set yourself as keymaster
once done you can remove the style pack plugin, or use it’s useful features 🙂
