bbPress basically has search equal to the default WordPress search, so just basic functionality.
You can extend the default search in bbPress by using custom functions and modifying some bbPress search template files by placing the in a folder called bbpress in your child theme. Here is a GitHub repository that has some example files you may use, you will need to edit the files as it may be in Russian.
I have seen users use plugins and extend the default bbPress search functionality, and also services like Google Custom Search too.
I’m getting the same behavior. Batch Change Forum Role has no effect.
With the upgrade to WP 4.4.0 bbPress 2.5.7 and 2.5.8 batch change of user forum roles are no longer effective.
This does seem linked to the WordPress upgrade as batch forum role changes worked under both bbPress 2.5.7 and .8 worked under WP4.3 but stopped working under WP4.4.
I’ve deactivated all other plugins and set theme to TwentyTwelve – still not working. Debug True is not revealing any hints either.
Anybody else out there experiencing this?
Hi,
there is but one reason why they will not answer – it’s because they don’t offer free support. There was one thread with kind of a solution, but I don’t know what plugin he meant. So I tried what he suggests with “Add Admin CSS”, and it didn’t work. (It just gave me access to the same custom CSS sheet I use with Jetpack.)
Since Yoast SEO is the major SEO plugin, I hoped maybe one of you had found a solution and would like to share? If I am right, this would be a very common problem.

Hi there,
Yoast SEO takes over (Browser/Site) Meta Title admin, and does so nicely with the Forums pages. However, when activated, it replaces the personal profile page meta title with the URL. When deactivated, this title reads “Move Meta | Your Profile”.
I use WordPress (MS) 4.4.1, bbpress 2.5.8, Yoast SEO 3.0.7. Our forums (in the making).
Does anyone have any ideas how to fix this? Maybe Yoast could enhance his plugin – what could I ask him to do, what would he need to know?
Thanks four your help and time
Manuel
Here’s another performance profiler that is useful: https://wordpress.org/plugins/p3-profiler/
Not as detailed as the Query Monitor, but it does give you a view of which plugins are hogging the most time. bbPress is at the top of the time-hog list on my application, which is not surprising given that it has to deal with the most data.
ok, it’s not a good idea to post user access details on the website.
I took a quick look, but please DELETE my username to prevent you being spammed.
This may be either a permalinks issue, or theme or plugin
so try
Permalinks
This could be an issue with your rewrite rules. To fix this try resetting your permalinks. In your WordPress Administration Screens navigate to Settings>Permalinks, MAKE A NOTE OF WHAT IT IS SET TO, then select a different permalink structure and save. Then select your preferred permalink structure and save again.
If that doesn’t fix, Then
Plugins
Deactivate all but bbpress and see if this fixes. if it does, re-enable one at a time to see which is causing the error.
Themes
If plugins don’t pinpoint the problem, as a test switch to a default theme such as twentytwelve, and see if this fixes.
Then come back

You will need to upload an image smaller than the max amount set on your site. You can adjust that by following this guide.
How to Increase the Maximum File Upload Size in WordPress
If you are just seeing this error even though you have an image smaller than what is stated in the error notice, if the error is on the frontend on BuddyPress profile pages, contact BuddyPress in their support forums or the plugin you are using that is causing the issue on the frontend. If it is WordPress related, meaning an issue with the Media Library, post in the WordPress Support Forums.
There is this for users posts submitted. It offers an option to approve a user one or all the time.

In Settings > Forums in the WordPress backend disable the Forum Prefix it has a description beside it that says
Prefix all forum content with the Forum Root slug (Recommended)
If everything works on WordPress, but it’s really related to bbPress, then check out http://www.rewweb.co.uk/topic-subscribe/
Hi,
If you talk about plain WordPress with bbPress installed on top of it, then both users and emails are handled by WordPress. Creation of a new user is a WordPress thing, not related to bbPress.
Do you get emails for normal things you do in WordPress ? Are you using any SMTP tool ? Are you sure emails do not arrive in your spam ?
If emails work for WordPress, then don’t forget that you will not receive an email for your own topics…
Pascal.
Hi,
How can I migrate vBulletin forum data to WordPress bbPress forum? Is there any easy way around or any sort of plugin. I wanna know is anyone had done this before?
I found this plugin CMS2CMS: Automated vBulletin to bbPress Migrator but its free version is limited and I haven’t tried it yet though.
I am currently hosting my private member site with GoDaddy and I have recently started receiving this error. –
Upload Failed! Error was: That photo is too big. Please upload one smaller than
I have BuddyPress Version 2.4.3 installed in WordPress version 4.4.1.
Does anyone know the fix for this problem?
if you are into coding, then download my plugin
https://wordpress.org/plugins/bbp-style-pack/
and look at
/includes/shortcodes.php
where I create a shortcode that uses a different template
You could create a new version by using that code as a base
@pyronaught, if it’s a local install, could you look at the queries to see which ones are super slow? I use https://wordpress.org/plugins/query-monitor/ for things like that.
(I mean look at them and post them here so we can figure out where exactly the problem is! No worries if that’s not possible or you just don’t feel like it. ๐ )

Hello,
With the code snippet I found here I was able to only show one reply revision log, namely the most recent one.
I would now like to move the revision log out of the reply itself and show it right below. I’m not sure which could I’d have to move to where. If anyone would have some directions that would great, thank you!
Hello community !
First of all, I want to clarify that I’m french, so I apologize for my poor English !
I explain my problem :
I create a website with wordpress. A website that contains several little websites.
Each little website has a different navigation. To do this I use the plugin : Zen menu logic, which allows me to select the right menu assigned for each page/post/forum/topic/reply of my website. Ok.
The problem I have is the following :
when a user creates a new topic, the menu assigned to this new topic, is the main menu of wordpress.
at that time I could go in the wordpress admin, select the new subject which has just been created, and then assign the right menu but I want this operation to be automated !
So do you know how I could do to automatically assign the right menu to a forum and all its sub forum / topic ?
I tried many things but in vain !
Does someone have an idea ?
Thx a lot in advance !
I am working on wordpress project, In this I need to enable bbpress Forum to buddypress group section only. And not other forum functionality out of the group.
Please guide me any hook or other solution which will help me to implement this functionality.
Thanks
I am trying to edit replies within the admin panel and can’t access pages 2 onwards.
Page 1 works perfectly fine – and I am able to edit all replies that show on the page. The error also occurs when trying to see posts from a certain month only.
Using wordpress: 4.3.2
Bbpress: 2.5.8
Thanks in advance
Hi dear BBPress Community,
after a long while of thinking about using bbpress or not – i decided to use it. The thing is, that I had installed it once (a long while ago). And now I reinstalled it to configure and use it in combination with Buddypress.
But then – HEY – It is (although activated) completely invisible in my wordpress backend. I created a site called “forum” to see if there is something it puts out in the frontend. And yes – there are even my old test-forums shown, which I had created two years ago.
But still no chance to see or change any option in my backend.
Strange!
Can someone help, please? ๐
Warmest regards
Torsten
This is a result of a change in WordPress. I had this too – I don’t allow users to change their nickname so the nickname field on the edit form was disabled and didn’t submit (as was the intent). What I did was make the nickname field “readonly” rather than “disabled” and then added this in (you could add it to your functions.php)
user_nickname_is_login( $meta, $user, $update ){
$meta['nickname'] = $user->user_login;
return $meta;
}
add_filter( 'insert_user_meta', 'user_nickname_is_login', 10, 3 );
This sets the nickname as the user_login so you would change it to whatever the nickname should be. That function forces the nickname to be what I want — I know the field in the profile was readonly but it was still editable using dev tools and I didn’t want that!
After the update from WordPress 4.3.1 to 4.4.1 I receive the error message “ERROR: Please enter a nickname.” when I try to change any profile field in the bbpress profile frontend.
I was able to verify the bug without no other plugins enabled. I also verified that the bug does not exist in WordPress 4.3.1.
Is this a WordPress or a bbpress bug?
Hi, So yesterday, I installed bb press on my WordPress site. I finally created a forum, as well as a test topic. Knowing I wanted users to be able to create accounts, I went to settings>general and checked the anyone can create accounts box or something like that. but when I go to register, it is not sending me the email with a password. I can of course login with my username and password, or manually create accounts for who ever wants to use the forum, but that would be defeating the purpose of what Iโm trying to do. I donโt know if something is not configured correctly in PHP mail, because I am fairly new with that. Any help would be much appreciated.
Yes, there’s an error with some of the menu_order bits. In addition to @nesiditsa’s edit (the same as this patch: https://bbpress.trac.wordpress.org/changeset/5392) you might need to apply these as well: https://bbpress.trac.wordpress.org/changeset/5338
