    Wordpress 4.4.1, bbPress 2.5.8, draftanimalpower.org

    @hotconductor
, I found my way to this forum in search of answers to the same questions you’re posing. I found this recent topic which basically says that you may be able to achieve this result by editing the child theme, changing functions, or using an external search functionality like that of Google Custom Search.

    @Robkk
, could you be more specific about what code we would need to add to the child theme in order to achieve the functionality we’re looking for? I am capable of very basic code but my ability level is low so I’m hopefully looking for something I can copy in.

    Help please?

The default role is set during login not during user creation (as that is done by wordpress) . Ie if a user doesn’t have a role, then this is set to the default role when the user first logs in.

So on import or indeed user creation, the database is not changed. As each user logs in for the first time it is set.

    Two approaches

    1. you are using Reden=pro which is a paid theme, so you should get paid support to fix this, quite often it is very simple, but it is theme dependant

    2. see this link on getting wordpress to use the template you want

    https://codex.bbpress.org/themes/theme-compatibility/getting-started-in-modifying-the-main-bbpress-template/

Ouch, ok, let me have another look

EDIT: In my 2.5.8 install of bbPress, I see vBulletin3 in the list, so I would say give it a try on a testsite. Get WordPress, bbPress then Tools > Forums > Import forums

I’d like to suggest something you might try to solve this problem.

The SEO Framework supports bbress, is written with massive and busy (multi-)sites in mind and therefore up to 867% faster when compared with other popular SEO plugins. It also consumes up to 260% fewer server resources and makes 15% fewer database interactions (numbers may vary on this one depending on plugin compatibility).

It allows for complete SEO data migration from other plugins and the author tells you an easy way to do it here SEO Data Transporter from WordPress.org

Plus it has 100% fewer advertisements. And the author will answer your questions because he is not trying to sell you an upgrade to the Pro version ~ there isn’t one. All of the Pro features are built into the free version you can download from the WordPress repository.

Give it a try. I think you will be impressed.

You might need the Ajax Search Pro plugin.

Group forum feeds are having issues.

    https://bbpress.trac.wordpress.org/ticket/2888

For just topics, you an for now use the original forum structure url and add this to the end.

    /feed/?type=topic

bbPress basically has search equal to the default WordPress search, so just basic functionality.

You can extend the default search in bbPress by using custom functions and modifying some bbPress search template files by placing the in a folder called bbpress in your child theme. Here is a GitHub repository that has some example files you may use, you will need to edit the files as it may be in Russian.

I have seen users use plugins and extend the default bbPress search functionality, and also services like Google Custom Search too.

I’m getting the same behavior. Batch Change Forum Role has no effect.

With the upgrade to WP 4.4.0 bbPress 2.5.7 and 2.5.8 batch change of user forum roles are no longer effective.
This does seem linked to the WordPress upgrade as batch forum role changes worked under both bbPress 2.5.7 and .8 worked under WP4.3 but stopped working under WP4.4.

I’ve deactivated all other plugins and set theme to TwentyTwelve – still not working. Debug True is not revealing any hints either.

Anybody else out there experiencing this?

    Hi,

there is but one reason why they will not answer – it’s because they don’t offer free support. There was one thread with kind of a solution, but I don’t know what plugin he meant. So I tried what he suggests with “Add Admin CSS”, and it didn’t work. (It just gave me access to the same custom CSS sheet I use with Jetpack.)

Since Yoast SEO is the major SEO plugin, I hoped maybe one of you had found a solution and would like to share? If I am right, this would be a very common problem.

    Hi there,

Yoast SEO takes over (Browser/Site) Meta Title admin, and does so nicely with the Forums pages. However, when activated, it replaces the personal profile page meta title with the URL. When deactivated, this title reads “Move Meta | Your Profile”.

I use WordPress (MS) 4.4.1, bbpress 2.5.8, Yoast SEO 3.0.7. Our forums (in the making).

Does anyone have any ideas how to fix this? Maybe Yoast could enhance his plugin – what could I ask him to do, what would he need to know?

Thanks four your help and time
    Manuel

Here’s another performance profiler that is useful: https://wordpress.org/plugins/p3-profiler/

Not as detailed as the Query Monitor, but it does give you a view of which plugins are hogging the most time. bbPress is at the top of the time-hog list on my application, which is not surprising given that it has to deal with the most data.

ok, it’s not a good idea to post user access details on the website.

I took a quick look, but please DELETE my username to prevent you being spammed.

This may be either a permalinks issue, or theme or plugin

    so try

    Permalinks

This could be an issue with your rewrite rules. To fix this try resetting your permalinks. In your WordPress Administration Screens navigate to Settings>Permalinks, MAKE A NOTE OF WHAT IT IS SET TO, then select a different permalink structure and save. Then select your preferred permalink structure and save again.

    If that doesn’t fix, Then

    Plugins

Deactivate all but bbpress and see if this fixes. if it does, re-enable one at a time to see which is causing the error.

    Themes

If plugins don’t pinpoint the problem, as a test switch to a default theme such as twentytwelve, and see if this fixes.

    Then come back

You will need to upload an image smaller than the max amount set on your site. You can adjust that by following this guide.
How to Increase the Maximum File Upload Size in WordPress

If you are just seeing this error even though you have an image smaller than what is stated in the error notice, if the error is on the frontend on BuddyPress profile pages, contact BuddyPress in their support forums or the plugin you are using that is causing the issue on the frontend. If it is WordPress related, meaning an issue with the Media Library, post in the WordPress Support Forums.

In Settings > Forums in the WordPress backend disable the Forum Prefix it has a description beside it that says

Prefix all forum content with the Forum Root slug (Recommended)

    Hi,
If you talk about plain WordPress with bbPress installed on top of it, then both users and emails are handled by WordPress. Creation of a new user is a WordPress thing, not related to bbPress.
Do you get emails for normal things you do in WordPress ? Are you using any SMTP tool ? Are you sure emails do not arrive in your spam ?
If emails work for WordPress, then don’t forget that you will not receive an email for your own topics…

    Hi,

How can I migrate vBulletin forum data to WordPress bbPress forum? Is there any easy way around or any sort of plugin. I wanna know is anyone had done this before?

I found this plugin CMS2CMS: Automated vBulletin to bbPress Migrator but its free version is limited and I haven’t tried it yet though.

if you are into coding, then download my plugin

    https://wordpress.org/plugins/bbp-style-pack/

    and look at

    /includes/shortcodes.php

where I create a shortcode that uses a different template

You could create a new version by using that code as a base

@pyronaught, if it’s a local install, could you look at the queries to see which ones are super slow? I use https://wordpress.org/plugins/query-monitor/ for things like that.

(I mean look at them and post them here so we can figure out where exactly the problem is! No worries if that’s not possible or you just don’t feel like it. 🙂 )

    Hello,

With the code snippet I found here I was able to only show one reply revision log, namely the most recent one.

I would now like to move the revision log out of the reply itself and show it right below. I’m not sure which could I’d have to move to where. If anyone would have some directions that would great, thank you!
