The process is still the same, I just updated the page you mention and it was only a minor modification for the default template location in bbPress 2.2.
In reply to: Configuration video / Pagelines? How about giving our ‘Get Started with bbPress’ document a go?

If you have any problems following this let us know and we will try to improve it.
In reply to: login option for forum usersCreate a new WordPress page and pick and choose some shortcodes from the following URL and add them to that page… https://codex.bbpress.org/shortcodes/
If I get a change today i’ll try to update https://codex.bbpress.org/bbpress-user-roles-and-capabilities/
That said though if anyone else wants to update it before I get a chance feel free to do so, if you have a bbpress.org username and pass you can edit the codex docs yourself. There are quite a few updates needed for 2.2 in the codex docs and any help would be greatly appreciated.
Just click ‘login’ at the top right of the page using the same bbPress username & password you use here at bbpress.org and edit away.
In reply to: Hook into the forums queryI kind of follow what you are asking but in no way can I offer you a solution sadly (I wish I could but alas I am still learning).
I hope this article can may help in the direction you want to go though with custom queries and bbPress.
In reply to: bbPress 2.2.1In reply to: Notification for not registeredbbPress does not currently support subscribing by email for anonymous users and as you point out there are no plugins (as at the time this posted) to perform this task either.
You have a couple of options: Write a plugin yourself, get someone else to write the plugin for you or submit a ‘feature request’ at https://bbpress.trac.wordpress.org/ explaining in detail the feature you want to see in future versions of bbPress.
Add the [bbp-topic-index] shortcode to your page.
In reply to: Activation email not being sentYou are using the ‘OneAll Social Login’ plugin to register users rather than the bbPress (WordPress) process and I would suspect that any errors related to incorrect username/password issues would be related to how this plugin is registering users with WordPress rather than this being a bbPress issue.
Try asking your question in the plugin support at https://wordpress.org/support/plugin/oa-social-login and that may also sort out why users are not receiving the activation email also.
Unsticking with the freshly pressed bbPress 2.2 now out the door with the improved BuddyPress Group Forums integration.

Hang of for a day or two, the ‘default’ theme in bbPress 2.2 uses lists and will be released very soon.
In reply to: Can you modify bbpress.php? for child themeInstead of bbpress.php try bbpress-functions.php and see https://codex.bbpress.org/theme-compatibility/ for more info

In reply to: How to convert a reply to a topic? When you have admin or mod privileges you can ‘split’ a thread whilst viewing the topic which will convert a reply into a new topic.
eg. If you current thread has a topic called topic1 with three replies reply1, reply2 & reply3 you can split the thread into two by clicking ‘split’ on the reply2 it will show you a couple of options about the thread split and you will now have two threads the first with Topic1 & Reply1 and the second thread now has Reply2 & Reply3 though Reply2 has now been converted from a reply to a topic.
In reply to: bbPress Install breaks WP editor?I have just created a ticket in trac https://bbpress.trac.wordpress.org/ticket/2021 and we will look into this as soon as we can.
In reply to: bbPress Install breaks WP editor?Ahhh…. Try updating bbPress to 2.1.3 as it includes the fix for the Jetpack issue.
In reply to: bbPress Install breaks WP editor?I am trying to repro it now… Not having much luck though!
What themes activated do you see this problem?
What themes activated do you NOT see this problem?
Do you see the correct toolbar on bbPress ‘Create Topic’ & ‘Create Reply’ regardless of the activated theme?
And is it the same behaviour with WordPress posts and pages?
No specific date yet though it is not far away…
