How to create similar sidebars as in the bbPress Support page (this page)

Published on February 26th, 2016 by erlendglommen

Hi,

How can I create a similar sidebar as is shown in the bbPress Support page (this page)? I really like the forum list (which I know I can create with the standard widget), but I can’t find how to create the extra #Posts column that displays the number of posts within each forum.

And how do you add the pin icons in the “Views” sidebar?

Within each forum there is also a really nice “Forum info” sidebar with #-of-topics, #-of-replies, last-post-by etc. Are these created with shortcode within a text-widget? And there are nice icons displayed here as well.

It all looks really nice and clean and I would like to replicate it.

All the best
Erlend

Adding extra fields to bbp register

Published on February 25th, 2016 by redwink

Hello Support
I would like to add one more field to the bbp register, this would require the person registering to be required to add their club membership number when registering for the forum, is this possible?

bbp-form style

Published on February 25th, 2016 by mulaps

Hi.
Im using motoblog theme from wolfthemes. After installing bbPress forum plugin i had issue with content wrapper. In the custom css section added fief lines:

#bbpress-forums {
    width: 92%;
    max-width: 1140px;
    margin: 0 auto 30px;

}

But i still have the problem with bbp-forum section image: http://imgur.com/2cGasYv
Can someone please help me with this problem? I zoomed out page to create image.

What do I do?

My current theme provider says that they don’t support child themes. And I have made a forum and looks exactly how I want it functions great! I downloaded bbp style pack and got it perfect. But I want to be able to redirect to proper pages, have the register button work (right now it will let someone register but won’t send them login information, they have to request a new password.) When logging in it takes me back to my home page even with the redirect towards the right page. And also when I put the register login and logout buttons active through bbp style pack they automatically extend my menu bar, when I want them to actually be in the drop-down menu off of the forum. So I am lost I am new to this have come very far and worked very hard to turn back and start over now! Can someone please help!?

Thanks in advance John

New Topic has a default post(reply)

Published on February 24th, 2016 by addisonlegere

I am trying to not show any reply(post) on the Topic page until someone adds one. The problem I have is that when I create a topic, there is already a reply that shows up.

So the Forum page says there is 1 post already, before anyone has even replied. How do I stop this from happening?

Replies Not Displaying in Forum

Published on February 24th, 2016 by Shane Skwarek

Hi All–

I know this issue has been covered a dozen times, but I can’t seem to find an appropriate answer as it’s always been resolved by running an update.

Whenever a reply is posted on our site, it fails to appear. We ARE using a custom theme, so I suspect that this is likely the root of the problem. However, if someone can help point more towards WHAT we should be including in our themes to make sure that the replies display, I’d be grateful.

Here’s a link to a topic page where the replies do not show:
https://www.mta.org/forums/topic/cmt-level-1-exam-ethics/

Thus far, I’ve already:
– Updated to the latest WordPress
– Updated to the latest BuddyPress
– Ran a repair on the tables
– Changed to a default theme to confirm it’s a theme issue

Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Redirect after registration – need new solution

Published on February 24th, 2016 by wselwood

Ok, so I’m setting up my new bbPress forum and have come across a problem that I just can’t fix. It’s the redirection to the wp-login screen after registration. I’ve scoured these forums and all the solutions offered take me nowhere. I’ve installed 3rd party plugins (like Pete’s) but there is just no changing the redirect. I’ve pasted code into functions.php files, almost anywhere I can, but all it’s doing is going back to the damn wp-login page!

I am going insane here trying to make this work.

Latest WP version, latest Lincoln Education WP theme, latest bbPress version and the site is at tec.selwood.me
