Problems with “Forum Is Category” in 1.0 Alpha-6

Published on April 9th, 2009 by

1) The dropdown gives me the option to post to a category (and it shouldn’t)!

a) Start a new topic

b) Hit the dropdown to select which forum to post to

c) Forums that are set as categories should not be displayed here!

When you try, it takes you too http://yoursite.com/bb-post.php and says “Topic Has Been Closed”.

2) Why do forums set as categories display 0 posts and 0 topics on the front page?

a) they should not display a # at all

b) they should display the TOTAL number of topics and posts from all of it’s child forums

I know the trac is probably the place for submitting these issues, but I am not familiar with tracs. If these are unknown issues (which I doubt) please post them there. Otherwise, am I the only one having these issues?

Automatic Thread Tagger

Published on April 9th, 2009 by alehawk

Hi!

I normally use VBulleting forum, several of my sites runs it but I algo use wordpress in some sites and for a new one I was looking for something in the middle betweeen forum and blog and I thing I got it with bbpress.

I know it isnt like WordPress but I like it.

To the point, in VBulletin I got a automatic thread tagger, it will add tags automatically to the posts, it works just fine, you can exclude words like TO, FOR, THE, etc.

I guess something like that is missing here. I dont know how to code it.

Tnx!

http://herbalremedyform.com proof the integration screencast rules!

Published on April 8th, 2009 by

Hi all,

So total non-coding newbie here (although I wanna get under the hood with this stuff). I watched and followed the screencast posted here for the integration of wp and bb and it worked like a charm. The trick for noobs is to have the screencast on one tab and the process on another tab — then pause at every step and make sure everything matches. No shortcuts! What was also nice about that is I also got a good idea about how everything in the integration looked in the scary coding areas. So nice work. Anyway, check it out (and sign up for the forum if you are into this kinda thing!)

ps — the site’s still under construction, but I got the forums going anyway!

Whoops. Keymaster inadvertently killed?

Published on April 8th, 2009 by Nate

So, I get to be a newbie (it’s been a while …)

The problem: I did the integration, but in the bbAdmin area (where you determine the User Values), I merged the administrator of WordPress (uh, me), somehow, with a value that doesn’t have access to the ‘Settings’ link within bbPress.

Not sure how I did it, or how to fix it. But while I seem to be recognized as the ‘admin’ on bbPress, the ‘Settings’ tab is no longer visible.

Help!

Thanks guys,

Nate

Unable to access “Admin” area

Published on April 8th, 2009 by Vizworld

I’ve just setup BBPress and integrated it with my WordPRess blog (www.vizworld.com and vizworld.com/forum ). The integration worked perfectly.

However, I find myself today unable to access the Admin area. I could get in yesterday by doing the recommended logout/purge cookies/login , but Today every time I click “Admin” it just bounced back to the main forum page.

Any help would be appreciated.

Data format for bbpress?

Published on April 8th, 2009 by

Hi,

I need to import forum data from an unknown forum system. Is there a data tree for bbpress out there somewhere, and is there a way to import xml forum data into bbpress?

Thanks-

Scot

Can not post ‘New Topic in this Forum’

Published on April 8th, 2009 by

Hello, we just installed 0.9.0.4 over here:

http://www.freezingmoon.org/forums/

Everything fine so far, except one thing.. when inside a forum, we can’t post using the “New Topic in this Forum” field since we get a “This topic has been closed” error page, but we can post just fine by using the “Add New” button.

Any ideas on how to solve this issue?

Thanks!

Plugin for statistics

Published on April 8th, 2009 by

I notice a lot of useful statistics on the sites at http://bbshowcase.org/forums/ at the bottom of their first page.

Forexample, usersonline, from in the past # _min # of them are on this page, # views today, yesterday etc.

I have the stats below this but not the above stats, is there on plugin that does all of the above stats and puts at the bottom header of your forum page?
