Short version, since this probably isn’t going to work…
On the WordPress.org forum support site, I have tried repeatedly today to post a new topic. The topic seems to post. It shows up in my Profile page as having posted. Yet if I try to reply to my own post, it says the topic has been closed. And if I log out of my forum account, and browse the forum, I discover my posts are not showing up for the world to see.
I upgraded to 2.8 today, is this the problem?
I really, really need support for a WP issue, and the only place I can get it is by posting to the WP forum, so it’s a big, big problem that I can’t post.
I even tried creating a brand new user account on wordpress.org forums, and the exact same thing happened.
Please help. Or at least let me know if you were able to read this message.
When searching through the forums at BikePGH.org, I noticed that the Most Recent results aren’t in chronological order, which I assume they should be as they’re time-based, correct?
For example, a search for testing brings up a post from 2006 at the top of the list, then the actual most recent post from 2009, and variously down the line. Click here to see that result.
Has anyone ever experienced this? Any idea what might be happening?
when I login to my forum (WWW.investorsbuzz.com/forum_) and then again back to my home page, and click my link to forum, which directs me to http://investorsbuzz.com/forum, (without WWW), I am not logged in anymore. If I however enter the ‘www’ again in the URL I am loged in again. Unfortunately I dont know how to change the forum link to include the ‘www’ in the url, since its the address of a wordpress page. Is there another fix to keep me logged in?
*Just* started using bbpress for a forum… have been using blogger for my blog, but the ease of bbpress is making me seriously consider wordpress for the blog.

bbPress 1.0 Release Candidate 3
I hope everyone is able to give this a test run. There are some tricky caching changes which should radically improve performance for any site with more than a dozen users or topics.
Please report issues to Trac as a matter of urgency, as soon as the admin area is skinned, this will be 1.0 final.
I have installed the bbPress Attachments plugin, it works fine to add an attachment, but the problem is that, the corresponding file will has a link like :
www.dreamfreeblog.com/bbs/ topic/18?bb_attachments=30&bbat=19
or
www.dreamfreeblog.com/bbs/ ?bb_attachments=24&bbat=13
as Google indexed page, actually as “Sorry, download is restricted.”
Is there a method to avoid such permalinks except that to write a robots.txt rule for Google? Many thanks in advance!

this is proving hard, especially with so much in such a little piece of code … e.g. <?php topic_tags(); ?>
all i want to do is, inline the lists, and remove that “Tag:” text before the tags… and possibly inline the input field and submit button… but i dont know where the code is that is pulled by the <?php topic_tags(); ?>

To promote more interaction/commenting on my forum, is it possible to display the Reply comment field to all users (including non-logged in users)?
Then, once the user clicks “submit” for their reply to the topic – it then asks them to login (or register) if they have not done so already.
I ask because currently – how the Reply to the thread feature is implemented, it discourages interaction because it doesn’t display a field to reply unless you are logged in.
If you can get a non-logged in user to type and try to reply, even if not logged in and THEN ask them to log in (or register) after they have clicked “submit”- they are more likely to create an account and contribute to the discussion.
Can I use the latest production/stable releases of WordPress (2.
and bbPress (0.9.0.5) together? Is that the best combination? Will most of the plug-ins or extensions for bbPress be available with those versions?
I like the look of a lot of the plugins and just wanted to make sure that they will work. Thanks!
