Odd formatting on post replies

Published on May 7th, 2012 by cbgametime

So I hate to be posting here again, but my forum is oddly formatting post replies, namely avatar’s, and names.

Here’s an example: http://ovcball.net/forums/topic/morehead-state-whats-next/

Note how on my first post on the topic, everything is normal, but on every reply, there’s a weird box around the avatar, and user names. (Also, on the 2nd reply, the same odd box around “the reply was modified” links.

Any ideas on how to fix it?

Thanks Again! (You guys have already helped me twice so far! Almost got this thing perfect)

Deleting sidebar

Published on May 6th, 2012 by Miniflowers

Hi, I’m currently using Serenity child theme. I can’t figure out how to get the sidebar to not show in member profiles and other various pages. It’s not showing up in the forum or topics, which is great, but it still shows up in Members and Groups.

Thanks!

Rearranging/removing forum column headings

Published on May 6th, 2012 by katmmad

Hi — I’m trying to add BBPress to my WordPress blog. I’m currently running Genesis, Prose theme (although that may change soon). My BBPress version is 2.21+, and I’m also trying to use Genesis Extend (I think successfully) and, at the author’s suggestion, I am trying to use the bbPress Custom CSS File. The immediate thing that I’m trying to do is to rearrange and remove some of the forum column headings. The default is:

Topic / Voices / Posts / Freshness

I’d like to change that to

Topic / Posts / Author

And include information in the Topic column about what category it’s in, as well as include Freshness data in the Author column.

Is there an easy way to do this, or is this all CSS Styling? (Or should I try to find a bbPress theme I like?)

The NEXT question then becomes, um… does anyone know where the bbPress Custom CSS File is? I poked around a bit in FTP and couldn’t find it. Do I have to generate it myself and upload it? Do I stick the file in the Prose theme folder, the Genesis theme folder, or the bbPress folder? Or the bbPress Custom CSS File plugin folder?

Many thanks in advance!

Forum category not showing more than 5 forums

Published on May 6th, 2012 by Jeaz

Hey,

For some reason, when I create a 6th forum under a category, it’s not shown. Posts from the forum still show up in latest posts widget and so on, but not in index anywhere.

Migrating bbpress forums to Buddy press?

Published on May 6th, 2012 by Miniflowers

Hi, has anyone migrated their forums from bbpress to buddy press? I’m wondering if this is a viable option since bbpress “hidden forums” option doesn’t seem to work and developers stopped updating their plugins since bbpress doesn’t seem to be active. Thanks!

Not able to use Private or Hidden forums for membership site?

Published on May 6th, 2012 by Miniflowers

Hi, we have a site that is public. We also have a forum for registered members only that we’d like hidden from the public, but obviously accessible only when members are logged in. From what I’ve researched online, there are no active plugins that enable the “hidden forums” option in bbpress to actually work.

Has anyone found a workaround? If not, does this mean the hidden function is broken and the only option we have for the forum is to make it public?

Thanks!!

Move the IP and username over the avatar.

Published on May 6th, 2012 by Andekvakk

Hello.

In my bbPress forum the username and IP is standing right for the avatar, and I want it to stand over it.

Is that possible on an easy way?

Here is an screenshot of the problem:

And here is how I want it to be:

Trying to install Site Wide Forums on BuddyPress Default 1.5.5 by the BuddyPress

Published on May 6th, 2012 by CIVIC

Hi, when I installed my Site Wide forum I saw this, “■Place the ‘bbpress’ folder in your ‘/wp-content/plugins/’ directory.”

But, have no idea how to ■Place the ‘bbpress’ folder in your ‘/wp-content/plugins/’ directory. Any advice?

Reason Why: User Activity Profiles result in Page Not Found

Published on May 4th, 2012 by Dave953

I’m building a site focused around bbpress 2.x. My users don’t Blog.

When users click on Avatars or the User name in the forums they have been getting “Page Not Found”, EXCEPT for the Admin. And from further testing, I’ve concluded that unless a user makes a Blog post, their Activity Profiles cannot be found.

This maybe old news, or just due to the way this Newbie put the site together, but my search of the bbpress forums only turned up requests for help with this problem, but no answers.

If there is another solution to making forum users Activity Profiles ‘visible’, I’d appreciate learning how to do so.
