Greetings

I set up a test forum and created a private category with two sub-forums inside. On forum index the category is shown with its two sub-forums listed below it, as intended.

Once I post a topic in one of the sub-forums the list disappears below the category on forum index. I can still see them if I click on the category however.

It’s similar to this bug here, but it doesn’t seem to matter if there’s a description or not

The bug only happen when the category is private or hidden. Should I do a bug report about it? Is there any known solutions?

Plugins: bbPress 2.6.9
Theme: Tried various WordPress default themes.

Hi guys,
i am using bbpress with the recaptcha for bbpress plugin then setup the site key and the secret key in google, then put the key in bbpress but however there is no recaptcha box if i want to register or login into the forum.

Do i need to do more to get the recaptcha box or what could be the problem.
Btw maybe you could recommend some more plugins or actions for secure the forum even more

I’m creating this topic on the off chance that somebody else might have experienced a similar thing and can point me in the right direction as to what has caused this.

So for unknown reasons, all forums and posts suddenly disappeared completely from our WordPress instance. They are not in the trash and I also couldn’t locate them in the database anymore. No plugin updates or any other suspicious actions have been performed that I know of which could’ve been behind this.

Also, this didn’t happen to our DEV instance which is essentially in the same state in terms of active plugins etc.

Anyone ever heard of something like this happening? I’m not so much concerned about restoring the lost forums because it was only test forums and test posts so far. But I don’t want to have this happen in the future with actual forums and posts on there. I know that backups can be made, but then there’d still be the content you’d lose in-between performing them manually.

We are using bbPress in conjunction with LearnPress and it was forums tied to a LearnPress course that were lost (we didn’t have any ‘free-standing’ ones), if that provides any hints.

Just wondering if anyone would be able to assist with an issue I’m experiencing on a site we’re working on. Unfortunately unable to share a link due to the nature of the project.

Summary: When clicking on the edit button on the front end of topics as any role it redirects to a page showing all posts, on all forums in date order.

Setup: The way this information is pulled in to the page is using the shortcodes to pull in the topic information, using PHP to get the id of the page (in turn, the topic), adding it to the shortcode and then executing it.

This seems to be working well to date aside from the editing of the topic; as the reply function is working nicely. Basically as soon as it pops in the /edit at the end of the URL it doesn’t show the right info.

Any advice would be fantastic, again I know it is difficult without a URL however any suggestions would be great.

In bbPress, the URL for a user’s public profile page is something like https://example.com/forums/users/{username}.

The problem is that because of how users register (another plugin), their username is sometimes their name or email. We’d like for people to be able to post somewhat anonymously, so we’d like the URL to be https://example.com/forums/users/{display_name} or similar, so if they change their display name, they can remain somewhat anonymous.

Is that possible?

Alternatively, is there a way to post completely anonymously, but in a way that is available only for logged-in users?

Does anybody know how to style the page so the profile pictures are like these ones on an angle?

I have a problem with an errror message appearing when I’ve had a thread open for some time and then post an answer to that thread, an error message appears saying something like “Error: are you sure that is what you want to do?”. When I go back to the page in the browser and klick Send again, it works. The site has WP version 6.0 installed with bbPress version 2.6.9. Unfortunately I cannot post link to the site since it is on an intranet.

I’m administrating a small forum currently on open source Vanilla, but they seem to discontinue their open source version and I’m looking for other solutions. Since we’re also already on WordPress bbPress seems like a choice to look into, but I’m worried we’ll get into the same situation again with the software being discontinued or outdated.

When I installed bbPress I noticed it said untested with the current version of WordPress, but also it does seem to be updated the past year so there may be no problem.

I need to ask though if bbPress is alive and planning to be alive for the future?
Are there any security concerns with it being updated so rarely or that’s perfectly fine?

i just create a forum on my website. I think i did all configuration correctly. I follow a few tutorial from Youtube. Everything looks great. But when user tried to register my forum it’s did’nt work. The confirmation email never reached in the destinated email.

And if the user tried to register again with that email, it shows
“That email address has already been used. Please check your inbox for an activation email. It will become available in a couple of days if you do nothing.”

I checked up inbox and Spam, there is no email.

Is it possible to set a permission where guest cannot see a link but can read the topics

For example “To view or see the link you must register”

Currently using Kleo.
