Editing above. We would like 1 forum to require approval from moderator for both topics and replies.
The other 2 forums we want replies to post automatically.
Is there a way to set permissions for reply approval differently for different forums?
Yes this is working. When a participant adds a new topic it shows: “This topic is waiting for moderation and needs to be approved that point for moderation”
However all moderators have access to all forums. Not sure if there is a setting where I can assign individual people to specific forums and only they can moderate the topic approvals and reply approvals if those are turned on.
Hi!
It is not a new site (been active for a few years), but I just started to use bbpress and experienced this. It happened to all users (including moderators that I assigned), and it seems to happen all the time consistently. Whenever they edit their posts, it appears “pending approval” and I had to approve their edit. Setting the minutes value doesn’t make any difference. Thank you!
I am having exactly the same issue, I set the minute number to be 9999, which should be more than enough. When tested, the edit still requires approval! First time edit, and second time edit had the same issue.
I have a user with Participant role. He creates a Topic. It shows up fine ,Then he replies to that topic – that does not show up immediately, but is kept for moderation by the Admin. Only after approval by the Admin does it show up.
How to remove this moderation by the Admin so that the reply shows up immediately ?
Hello,
I want participants to be able to post their topics without admin or moderator approval.
Do you have the solution.
Thanks for your help.
On some of my sites I use wp.org/plugins/user-registration/ but it slows things down it seems to me.
This not critical For other sites, but bbpress is lively and loads not fast. So I wanted to try something new.
On an empty bbpress I have a letter about registration of a new user. It remains only to freeze this registration for approval by the moderator, put a flag and send a confirmation email.
Maybe someone Who was doing this via functions.php? :)))
I wanted to create a membership site with: Membership by Supsystic and integrate bbPress for the forum part.
But this has been exploited on February 8th, so it’s no longer an option.
We wanted that:
– members can interact with each other
– the forum is only for registered members
– members need approval for registration (they have to pay first)
– some wordpress pages are only for registrated members
– all other wordpress pages are visible for everyone
All of this was achievable with the Members by Supsystic Plugin + the paid extension to limit some pages only for members.
Is there any alternative that works with bbPress? Our forum already uses bbPress and we wanted to keep it that way.
Thank you very much for any help!
This is our actual membership page on our website (idk if you need it): https://nestli-seminare.de/netzwerk/login-bereich/
Thanks!
Nicklas
In essence you are allowing anyone to register in
dashboard>settings>general
one of the scourges of the internet is the race to get a site listed on page 1 of google – the sites google ranking. One of the parameters google (and other search engines) use is how many times a site is found listed on other websites. There are loads of ‘companies’ that offer to raise your google ranking, and one of the ways they try and do this is to register and add the website to their profile on WordPress sites that allow registration. Sites that allow anyone to register get known, and yes robots are then used to register.
yes, you can go in and delete the bogus users, but you’d need to be satisfied that they have not posted, as otherwise any forum posts by this user might cause the site to error.
you might be better to set the ‘screen options’ in dashboard>users>edit users to 999, and bulk delete a thousand at a time, you can then attribute content or delete it.
for future you might do better to add an approval to registration – there are several – I’ve not used any, as I have a manual registration process, but this one should do what you want
WP Approve User
Hi, for some time, I am facing issues when deleting spam, removing “waiting for approval” spam topics or even simply emptying trash… It takes extremely long – a couple of seconds per item, I would guess… Typically, if I want to delete more than 10 topics, I got a blank page with Cloudflare Error 524 (timeout)…
What might be wrong? The web is in good shape, hosting is strong, everything else works great, but I am just lost here…
Or is there a way to empty it via DB or external plugin?
Thank you! Jan
We plan to use anonymous topic creation with topics requiring approval by moderator. We would like to disable replies. Is this possible? I looked at custom roles but don’t see how I would remove the ability to reply when an anonymous person can create a topic.
I have freshly installed bbpress and my >Dashboard>Settings>Discussion>”Comment Moderation”> is set to “Comment must be manually approved”. However when a test user with subscriber role submits a post, it appears instantly without requiring any approval.
What is the setting or settings that cause the plugin to require approval before a subscriber’s reply to a forum is published?
Hello,
I would like to know if your extension allows you to do these things :
– Create a group to join (administrator approval to join) to view certain topics
– Ability to move a topic from one group to another
– In topics, that members can share photo and video content and links in addition to text.
– In the member’s space, possibility to create a photo album with the modification of the privacy of this album
– Show the latest topics at the top
– Ability to alert an administrator if content needs to be reported
– Online chat to exchange between members
– Being able to vote for a message in a topic
Thank you in advance for your contributions.
We look forward to hearing from you,
Some.
Eg.:
A user submits a topic/reply, this content is automatically approved, but if this same user submits a topic/reply again, this requires approval.
…or no.
Virtual Energy drink it is
Happy to wait for proper approval, as I am sure many others want this plugin to work well 😉
Thank you for kind words.
Energy drink always helps me to have good drive.
If tomorrow will not pass approval, because 21 plugins is waiting for review, then I can upload on different host if you will.
I have submitted plugin to repository, now we need to wait for approval.
I will post link here.
Hi all
I have two issues. First is that the area
Allow users to edit their content for xx minutes after posting
If checked, setting to “0 minutes” allows editing forever.
I can’t change it to 0. Default keeps going to 5 minutes.
Secondly if a reply has been edited, I have to manually approve it. Is there a way to disable that so it automatically approves?
Hi, all the forum members will need approving, so is it possible to change this text please. It is on the page people see as soon as they have signed up:
“Create An Account
You have successfully created your account! To begin using this site you will need to activate your account via the email we have just sent to your address.”
also, can I change the email that is sent out automatically? It is confusing.
“Thanks for registering!
To complete the activation of your account, go to the following link and click on the Activate button:”
put in a reply with some links to imgur images and explanations but it’s seemingly gone to moderation approval due to the links.
Have a look if you find it there, if not I’ll re-write it without working links.
Ah – I did not have that check box marked for comments needing approval. BUT I believe the problem I’ve been having is due to the Comment Moderation if it contains links! We use links a lot so this is likely the culprit.
Thanks joyridek9! After the recent bbpress and wordpress update I started experiencing this problem. Looks like some settings were reset. Mine were set to moderate if it contained two links or more. Set this number to 0 and poof, problem solved.
(It should be noted that I have a protected forum hidden with bbgroups. If you have a public facing forum, setting this to zero could increase spam posts so tread carefully.)
by default bbpress does not require approval – they should just publish.
So either you have another plugin doing this (eg bbpress notify) or your comment moderation is set to tight – look in
dashboard>settings>discussion and check the befor a comment appears and the part below where the no. links allowed in a comment and the words that are allowed.
Ok so looks like for me it was the site rule with 2 or more links it goes to moderation.
This is not to say other issue can cause it, but this is my issue.
So now need to make sure user understand that, or they get notice of reply or topic requires approval.
Yes its working fine now.
now i have one issue.
You posta question but without my approval it directly reflected on the website.
how can i make it manually approve before shown to visitors to avoid any adult content or spam content.
Also how can i show login register form to users?
or will woocommerce my account login customers able to use their account or they need to login seprately there?
Sorry, need clarification
Are you saying that all topics and replies are currently being held, and need approval or that this is what you would like to happen?
