Hi! If you click on the authors link, they never lead to the authors page, but to the homepage of the whole wordpress website. Is that a common problem?

Hi, I’ve got the same problem :

Warning: Creating default object from empty value in /homez.51/nexeo/www/javanex/wp-content/plugins/bbpress/bbp-includes/bbp-core-compatibility.php on line 84

My wordpress has 3.4.1–fr_FR version and I installed bbPress on version 2.0.3 with the extension manager. My theme is actually BlogoLife.

In addition, when I move to “bbPress (Twenty Ten)” theme, and only for this one, the warning change :

Warning: Creating default object from empty value in /homez.51/nexeo/www/javanex/wp-content/plugins/bbpress/bbp-themes/bbp-twentyten/functions.php on line 357

Does anyone has an idea on this ?

I’d like to install bbpress 2.1 RC2, but I currently have bbpress 2.0.3 running on my site.

What is the best way to install the beta version without breaking anything ? Upload the zip file via “add plugin” in WordPress admin panel ? Overwrite the old bbpress files via FTP ? Uninstall 2.0.3 then install 2.1 RC2 ? Other solution ?

Not sure if it will fix your problem, but try this :

    – go to settings > forums in your wordpress admin panel

    – click “save changes”

John, I did some preliminary tests and the results aren’t looking good.

I left my comments on trac: https://bbpress.trac.wordpress.org/ticket/1885#comment:3

Yeah; the meta queries are really awful.

I think I’ve resolved the issue. You’re one of the first people to report back using bbPress 2.x at that scale, so I’d love some feedback on the change.

I am new to wordpress but had it up and working fine.

I then installed bbpress per the instructions.

The installation seemed to go fine, but after trying to create a custom menu for the forums clicking on any link gives me the message:

    “Object not found!

The requested URL was not found on this server. The link on the referring page seems to be wrong or outdated. Please inform the author of that page about the error.

If you think this is a server error, please contact the webmaster.

    Error 404″

I have tried deactivating and uninstalling bbpress but non of my links work any more.

Can anyone please help a newbie??

    Thanks,

Thanks John. Is there anything I can do to help? My site build out has been on hold pending a fix for the slowness issue. If you have a preferred way of fixing it, perhaps I can help implement it.

Here were my original findings: https://bbpress.org/forums/topic/bbpress-202-sql_calc_found_rows-and-16mm-posts-painfully-slow

Edit: I’ve created a trac ticket for this: https://bbpress.trac.wordpress.org/ticket/1885

The URLs do follow the same structure as WordPress, exactly actually.

Keep in mind that WordPress has never needed to have a mixed post-type URL structure, except for the case of attachments (which don’t really count.)

None of the words in the URL are ‘useless’ since they’re all indicative of where the content lives.

bbPress and WordPress are designed to allow those with specific needs and wants to customize the codebase, and contribute the changes they needed up-stream to the parent project. If this is something multiple people would like, I suggest you group up and build it. If it works, and more people want it, we absorb it into bbPress core.

    Boom. :)

    #114002

It doesn’t directly. I’m working on ways of addressing this for a quick 2.2 release.

Are your topics and replies mixed into your wordpress posts?

What version of bbPress are you using?

You could completely customize the login page with particular wordpress hooks so that it is effectively a login page.

Or you could try a plugin like this: https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/custom-login/

I am wondering if there is a way I can export the forums (topics & replies) and isolate it from the rest of WordPress posts? I need to separate them and I’m finding it difficult.

    Thanks!

Hi I am new to bbPress, I installed it last week, it was working fine.

But it is not working recently, I don’t even know since when, may be after I updated the bbPress Plugin to 2.0.3

All I want is just putting the [bbp-forum-index] in a WordPress page, so it can show all forum, topic and replies.

Now once I click to the forum that I have been set up, it don’t show any topic or replies.

Please see the page as below:

    Hello,

This is my first time working with wordpress and bbpress so I am quite confused.

I understand that bbpress requires some tweaking in order for it to work with custom themes, but I really don’t know where to start. I’d be very grateful if anyone could point me in the right direction.

The website I’m working on is lightshow.me. I’d strongly prefer to stick with the current theme.

My goals for the website are simple:

    -A video blog

-A clean forum where users can post and embed videos

    Any help will be appreciated!

    Thanks

I have to third this. As a standalone forum CMS it might have made sense, but as a wordpress plugin, it would be ideal if the URLs followed the same structure as wordpress pages (ex: domain.com/forums/actual-forum-name/actual-topic.

Adding extra useless words like /forums/forum/topic/here-is-the-only-part-that-matters is bad for SEO, web designers, admins, visitors, and everyone else.

Also, in case anyone is confused, we understand that you can remove the base from topics or change the words. This is not the point. Please re-read the original post.

“Special” indeed. “No! I promise I was sober when I created this website, sir!”

If there is any way to fix this I would be eager to hear about it. If I figure something out I’ll post it here. If anyone else has, please do the same.

    Thanks.

single-forum-edit.php is used by BuddyPress, for group forums. You can also do /edit on a forum, and it will use that template.

Twenty Ten missing the feedback-no-replies.php reference was an oversight, just fixed now. r4049

    Hello,

I am trying to avoid visitors to get to any page that has to do WordPress. I would like that when they try to login and fail be redirected to a new page telling them that the login failed and they need to try again. How can I accomplish this?

    Thanks,

So let me get this straightened out. I have a wordpress site that has bbpress integrated. Do I need to use a different theme – a responsive one? or could I just stylize the current bbpress theme to make it responsive?

In reply to: How install bbpress

    WordPress.com does not offer bbPress.

To use bbPress you need to be running WordPress stand alone install (from WordPress.org).

P.S. This may be valuable information for a possible solution / bug fix: Users immediately DO see the new topic or reply after logging out and logging back into WordPress.

I keep having a problem within my bbPress forums: when a registered user posts a new topic or reply, it does not show up immediately or not for all users:

    – In some cases the new topic or reply only shows up the next day, in other cases after half an hour, it’s completely unpredictable.

    – Sometimes user X can see the latest addition, while user Y (with exactly the same role / rights) can not see it.

    – Some new replies do not even show up in my WP-admin dashboard.

    – The freshness displayed in the frontend is lagging very much behind.

I have tried various things that I found in related support calls:

    – Recount – no effect

    – (re)Save permalinks settings and bbPress settings

    – Disable Akismet – no effect

    – Deactivate and reactivate bbPress – no effect

    – Deleting the entire forum and creating a new one – no effect

I am using WordPress 3.4.1 and bbPress 2.0.3 in conjunction with the Twenty Eleven theme. The problem occurred also in earlier versions of WordPress by the way.

Does anybody have a clue how to resolve this? I am at the end of my wits…

Inside the bbPress 2.1 twentytwen theme, there’s a new file single-forum-edit.php, but I don’t see it used or referenced anywhere else.

When editing forums, we are using the WordPress admin ui so is this file necessary?

    p.s. – same goes for feedback-no-replies in bbp-twentyten/bbpress/
