I just upgraded to the latest wordpress 2.3 and bbpress 0.8.3 and now when I try and access any page I get the following error at the top of the page:

    Warning: Invalid argument supplied for foreach() in bb-settings.php on line 173

    I checked the bb-settings.php file and the line looks like:

    foreach ( glob(BBPLUGINDIR . ‘_*.php’) as $_plugin )

    I checked BBPLUGINDIR to see if it’s been set correctly, and it does indeed point to the location of my-plugins.

    I’m running PHP5 with a mamp server on os x.. I’ve never had a problem with bbpress before (being using it for a few months now), and only saw this error with the upgrade.

    has anyone else seen this, or know how to remove it?

    cheers,

    Jason

    bbPress themes are similar, but not drag-and-drop compatible with WordPress themes. What you are suggesting won’t work.

    You will need to create a new bbPress theme to match your existing theme.

    Hi!

    I am trying out BB for the first time, but upon running install.php I get this:

    hide_errors(); $installed = $bbdb->get_results("SELECT * FROM $bbdb->forums LIMIT 1"); if ( $installed ) : if ( !$new_keymaster = bb_get_option( 'new_keymaster' ) ) die(sprintf(__('

    To reinstall please clear your old database tables first.

'capabilities'; $keymaster = false; if ( $keymasters = $bbdb->get_results("SELECT * FROM $bbdb->usermeta WHERE meta_key = '$meta_key' AND meta_value LIKE '%keymaster%'") ) { foreach ( $keymasters as $potential ) { $pot_array = unserialize($potential->meta_value); if ( is_array($pot_array) && array_key_exists('keymaster', $pot_array) && true === $pot_array['keymaster'] ) die(__('

    It continues from there…

    The problem is, I have never installed BBPress. I went to MySQL after I got the error the first time, made a database for BB called “bbpress” but still get the error (even though the database is new, fresh and entirely empty). What’s up?

    Well, problem solved. The WordPress FAQ suggests resetting your MySQL password manually if you have problems connecting to the db. I did so using the MySQL client and now both WP and bbpress seem to be working fine.

    Thanks for the input.

    Yes, the wordpress user exists. The passwords are the same.

    The really strange thing now is that WP has stopped working (it did before I started tinkering with bbpress). I get “Error establishing a database connection” when I try to view the blog.

    Even weirder, it seems that IIS “forgot” that index.php was a valid default page. I had to go back in and change this setting.

    #60518

    How are you calling bbPress from WordPress?

    There seems to be something wrong with your webserver. Requests to a real pdf file should not be executing any PHP at all.

    Is there anything logged by MySQL? Does the wordpress user actually exist, and is the password in both wp-config.php and (bbpress) config.php the same?

    Sorta stumped …

    Thanks Chris.

    > can you try connecting to that database

    Yes, I did this with the MySQL cmd line client and I can connect fine. The bbpress settings are really simple:

    // ** MySQL settings ** //

    define(‘BBDB_NAME’, ‘wordpress’);

    define(‘BBDB_USER’, ‘wordpress’);

    define(‘BBDB_PASSWORD’, ‘XXXXXXXX’);

    define(‘BBDB_HOST’, ‘localhost’);

    define(‘BBDB_CHARSET’, ‘utf8’);

    define(‘BBDB_COLLATE’, ”);

    And for WP:

    // ** MySQL settings ** //

    define(‘DB_NAME’, ‘wordpress’);

    define(‘DB_USER’, ‘wordpress’);

    define(‘DB_PASSWORD’, ‘XXXXXXXX’);

    define(‘DB_HOST’, ‘localhost’);

    Here is the info from the MySQL database after connecting as the ‘wordpress’ user:

    mysql> show databases;

    +

    +

Database

    +

    +

information_schema

wordpress

    +

    +

    3 rows in set (0.00 sec)

    Is there any way to get more detailed diagnostic info from the install process?

    If it cannot connect to the database, but the database server is working with WordPress, then I suspect something is wrong in the config.php for bbPress. Since we can’t help you with that on your local machine, can you try connecting to that database using the connection details you entered in config.php, with some other tool (phpMyAdmin or whatever comes with a MySQL install)?

    Hello all,

    Very odd issue!

    I seem to be missing some forums:

    http://forums.audreysargent.com/

    There should be three additional forums, “The Cafe”, “The Design Divan” and “Written Role Play”.

    They’re still there, is the odd thing. You just can’t see them in the forum listing on the index page, and they’re not showing up in my admin control panel either.

    To prove it, here are links to each of the forums:

    http://forums.audreysargent.com/forum/written-role-play

    http://forums.audreysargent.com/forum/the-cafe

    http://forums.audreysargent.com/forum/the-design-divan

    In addition, this problem seems to happen with or without plugins- so it doesn’t seem to be a plugin issue. Though I could be wrong.

    I’m not seeing any PHP errors, so I’m not sure how to diagnose the issue. It’s obvious all the content is still there, and even still accessible.

    I upgraded the forum BEFORE I upgraded WordPress. Also, it is a fully integrated installation, they share the same database.

    Any thoughts? Big thanks in advance to anyone willing to help me troubleshoot.

    This:

    You can try overwriting /bb-includes/db-mysqli.php with /bb-includes/db.php (so that you have two copies of db.php) to see if that helps.

    Hey!

    So after the rather simplified installation and integration with WordPress, I finally finished setting up the forum section of my website. But after several unsuccessful attempts, I was unable to get Sub-Forums working. All of the forums I create just show up on the home page as a top-level forum. I then try to put it under a parent forum, but it just doesn’t work. I try everything. I am currently running the latest version of bbPress witht he WOrdpress INtegration Plug’-In installed. I ask that someone please help as this is very important towards the deployment of my site

    THANKS!

    From lasir’s config file, it looks like a common theme may be that the error message says:

    Access denied for user 'thechamp'@'localhost' (using password: NO)

    but the config file specifies a different user: thechamp_risal. (Can the others who are experiencing this problem please post the DB details of their setup as well?).

    This often indicates that the specified user doesn’t exist (or possibly doesn’t have access) in the specified database.

    Lasil, I’m not sure what this post is showing. Are you looking at users in the wrdp1 database or in thechamp_wrdp1?

    The other commonality here may be that all of you are using the mysqli extension. It could be that there’s a bug there that’s only now popping up since most people use the mysql extension.

    You can try overwriting /bb-includes/db-mysqli.php with /bb-includes/db.php (so that you have two copies of db.php) to see if that helps.

    They can be in the same database, and it won’t cause any problems. They can be in different databases too. bbPress will work in either situation, though it’s easier to set up if bbPress and WordPress share the same database.

    Absolutely! The DB has a password and I wrote it correctly in the config-file.

    I just read in another thread about other people experiencing the same problem, here:

    Thanks.
