You would be best to look at WordPress plugins, this is not something that bbPress does.

I checked all the plugins … There are several that cause the site to break, when used in conjunction with bbpress… They include:

• Redirection
• Search Everything
• The Event Calendar
• WordPress DatabaseBackup

The calendar plugin is very important to the site. Redirection and Search Everything aren’t mandatory, but they are useful. The DB Backup I can do through PHPMyAdmin, so that isn’t important.

Is there a way to get the site working WITH these other plugins?

Thank you very much, that solved it! I’ll be honest… I wasn’t even aware there was a trash, and I’ve been a wordpress user for a long time -.- This also may explain other problems I’ve had in the past. I wonder why the page still messed with the forums while it was in the trash, though. You’d think the trash removed functionality of the pages.

If you have access to your apache config, it is possible to use mod_alias and point Roni Cohen to userid 524.

So if you mix it up with mod_rewrite, you redirect every link from 524 to Roni, and use mod_alias to point it back to 524.

We discussed using videos in the WordPress Codex. The consensus was that videos were great so long as they were done on an clean, unbranded WP install (localhost or something like that).

Hello,

I went to : http://translate.wordpress.org/projects/bbpress/plugin
Lots of language translation files are available and I was able to download them successfully.
Unfortunately for some languages, the current validators are not validating anything, leaving bbpress dead for these languages.
The bad thing is that there is no way to download older versions of the translation files, which could still work for 90% of the strings.

Please correct me if i’m wrong.

A solution would be to have a separate store on bbpress.org where the latest validated translation files are available. Even outdated translations would be better than nothing.

The situation is pretty bad, for example at the moment we can’t have a forum in the french language.

Hi everyone! I’m using the fancy “new” TinyMCE box to post comments in the forums, but I have a site with black background, so the box where you write the comment is black too, but the letters are grey (WordPress default). If I try to change the CSS style, It changes the default TinyMCE box, so if I make the text white, I will have white text in WordPress’s “Write a new article” box too.

Is there any way to change the letters colors of the TinyMCE ONLY to use it in bbPress comments box? I would appreciate a detailed explaination ’cause I’m a little noob with WP and BBP.

@shineonscotland Do you have a page created called ‘forums’? the reason I ask this is that http://causeblogs.org/topics/ appears to work fine and the http://causeblogs.org/forums/ should display in the same manner.

Sorry for the double post, but I took control of the account and I’m not able to reproduce the error from my session. Her password was reset. I am trying to install BuddyPress and BBPress. I install BuddyPress just fine. Then, since many posts on this forum said not to install BBPress “through” BuddyPress, I downloaded BBPress from this site (the most recent version), uploaded it to my FTP and then activated the plugin through WordPress. The moment I click ACTIVATE bbpress, the site breaks. I get the following error page when I try to go to ANY page of my site…

I can get my site back online by logging into FTP and renaming the pluging folder for bbpress (so WordPress can’t find the plugin). However, I would like to get the forum working on my site. Please help.

There are multiple articles out their on how to do multiple WordPress installs but share the users from a single database.

I’m not sure why you would want to do it this way though if it is just scalability you are concerned about have a read of this thread https://bbpress.org/forums/topic/bbpress-for-millions-of-posts/

Howdy,
I added support for bbPress into my anti-spam plugin this morning. I don’t actually use bbPress though, so can’t confirm that it is indeed working on a live site, so if any of you kind bbPress folks can help a poor plugin dev. out by testing it for me, that would be really handy 🙂

It works ninja well on blog comments, so assuming I’ve implemented it correctly, it should (in theory) work just as well for bbPress too.
