    Just a question:

    If this bbPress plugin goes Live will there be some different folder inside the bbPress folder to place future plugin’s?

    something like this:

    wp-content > plugins (plugins for WordPress only)

    wp-content > plugins > bbpress > bbp-plugins (plugins for bbPress only)

    Because i was looking at the bbPress-signature plugin and it works very good only what if this bbPress plugin will get very successful and lots of people start making plugin’s for the bbPress forum plugin only (just like bbPress stand alone) Then we have in a few months more then 50 different plugin’s inside the plugins folder and you can’t see very clear what plugin is for what part of the website. (WP or BBP)

    Just some small and fast thinking of my side..

    I solved my problem for the bbPress plugin not showing up in my wp-plugins directory.

    (local MAMP)

    When i changed localhost -> localhost:8889 in my wp-config.php file it works.

    I don’t know if that was the correct error but it working for me at this moment.

    define(‘DB_HOST’, ‘localhost:8889’);

    Good job everybody that is working on this code.

    Looks pretty good so far..

    Only one little ‘problem’ report..

    I think everybody will be able to install a WP site + bbPress forum in the feature in just a few clicks ;)

    I can’t get it work locally.

    I can do whatever i want but the WordPress admin doesn’t find the plugin in the plugin folder.

    While if i place the bbPress plugin inside my online WP version i can activate the plugin and i will get the msg to switch to a different (twentyten theme)

    Very strange this local bug.

    Using MAMP on a Mac OSX.

    Hello i’m back after a while..

    Is there any way i can see this ‘new’ bbPress plugin in action?

    I would like to know how things are going with this plugin-idea. I saw something on the forum that bbPress stand-alone will get one last update before they will put it in the ground.

    @ topic starter this is a known issue for a long time..

    You can’t do anything against it. (maybe do a new integration) but don’t do anything without backing up..

    Try this:

    Go back to your WordPress site Log-out > move back to the forum page and log-in on the bbPress site as the admin than you see you can go to the bbPress back-end..

    Now you also can go to the WordPress site and jump to the WordPress back-end.

    So my advice would be try to delete the WordPress log-in section from your WordPress site and try to include the bbPress log-in section into the WordPress section else you will keep this issue.

    (i have the same issue)

    I’m not at that stage at this point but this is what i’m (try) going to do for Mobile users.

    First i will edit all content and see if i can clear all tables from my templates.

    2nd. i will try if this plugin works.

    https://bbpress.org/plugins/topic/bbpress-theme-switcher/

    3rd i make a theme that is very light and smaller.

    I will try to delete Avatars and graphic stuff that isn’t needed for mobile devices. (make all links a little bit bigger)

    So if somebody on a mobile device visit my page he-/she can switch manually to the “mobile theme”.

    Just some fast thinking i don’t know if it will work 100%

    But i don’t believe people need extra software for mobile devices most of those devices have browsers on them that are almost the same as the once we use on our computers the problem they mostly face is the smaller screen on the device.

    I think the biggest problem you face right now is that bbPress uses Tables in the layout.

    That makes the forum less mobile friendly.

    But maybe we can change this and replace all table tags into div’s.

    The easiest way to do this is by getting this plugin for (bbPress) or better said WordPress.

    Make sure you read the HOW TO INSTALL

    It’s not that hard to pull off but i like it very much.

    You will just get a Widget that you can add to a side-bar or footer-bar lots of option.

    One small glitch,

    It doesn’t support the nicer-permalinks plugin for bbPress but the links will support the right pages.

    Hello i was just playing around with this a little bit and i have to say i have ZERO .php skills i only look and compare lines to each other..

    But i think i have found the problem for showing the (right) avatars.

    First i did this what Kevin told us.

    echo bb_get_avatar( $topic->topic_last_post_id , ’48’);

    But i got only a basic image and all the same basic avatars..

    So i looked at who bbPress did post the user name of the last poster in the topic and i see this.

    <?php topic_last_poster(); ?>

    So i thought lets try to change _post_id into _poster and it worked for me with this line.

    <?php echo bb_get_avatar( $topic->topic_last_poster , ’48’); ?>

    This is not beautiful but it works..

    and with a little bit of tuning (later) i think i can make it look much better.

    Also something cool.

    If you register with a Gravatar (wordpress) image placed on the gravatar site if will autom. pick that image as basic image.

    And if you would like to add some other image on your profile you can simple upload you’re own image and it will overwrite the basic one.

    And if you push “delete” it will autom. go back to the gravatar basic image.

    Very cool.

    No problems for me till now with this plugin.

    I also tried the Avatar upload plugin but that one is broken like …

    (don’t even try to install Avatar upload plugin – pick the Bavatars one)

    Thanks zaerl..

    I will delete the login-/register menu off WordPress and try to redirect the login-/register off WordPress to the bbPress site.
