The XML-RPC option was added in 1.0, I believe, which is still Alpha. What version did you install?
You need to provide more information than that. Are you trying to hide the whole section where the tags are, or are you trying to hide just specific tags? Are you trying to remove all tag functionality from your site altogether? Also, what version of bbPress are you talking about?

Wherever the username is displayed properly – what theme is in use there? And what version of bbPress and WordPress did you integrate?
If you are seeing the username displayed incorrectly in bbPress, maybe the template author used the wrong function to display the username, or something like that.
Did you guys already try contacting the author of the plugin or post comments on the plugin page?
Is it possible the database server is down? I doubt anything else changed. If it’s hosted at 1&1 Internet, they have been having DNS issues today.

Can you check the database and see what date values are stored there?
Can you send any mail at all from your server? What sort of server is it (Windows, Linux, OSX)?
Maybe you can fix it and contribute the fixes back to the community? I don’t know that it’s been fixed yet, although there have been a couple of code fixes contributed in that thread.

Also, this happened to me recently due to something completely stupid that I did. I was trying to solve a connection problem (connecting Navicat to the database through an SSH tunnel) and I reset my MySQL password with phpMyAdmin to be certain I was using a valid password. I forget that I had also used that account for the database connection in bb-config.php as well. So, I noticed later that bbPress stopped working with that same exact error.
It would be worthwhile to try connecting to the database with the details that are currently in the bb-config.php to see if the connection details still work.

What do you mean “text not showing up on the buttons”? Can you post a screenshot? Maybe it’s just a browser or CSS thing.

I’ve never used that plugin, but I think it works by just not filtering what an admin enters in a post. So, you would probably need to put the whole embed code from Youtube.
