OK, I got the bb running, seeing the usernames from wp.
Two issues, first, I installed the bb plugin mentioned in the faq (name-display) into the my-plugins sub-directory. It doesn’t show up in the plugins section of bb.
Which makes me wonder if that is the reason users who register on BB are not found on WP. If this is the case, figuring out how to get the plugin active will solve the problem… If it isn’t, any ideas why wp isn’t recognizing bb registrations?
Second, I noticed that WP usernames with a space (Joe West) can not log in to bb with that name, but usenames without spaces (Joe) work fine.
Since this bb install is later than my wp install, I have users who have spaces in their names… Any way to fix this?
OK… I’m trying to integrate bbpress (whatever the current version as of 11/17/07 is) with wordpress, hosted on my site.
It’s a train wreck.
In no particular order, but all of equal importance…
bbpress recognizes all the usernames from wp, however my admin account doesn’t give me access to anything. When it was first installed I was able to log in with admin and the random password and get to the dashboard.
Actions are all met with “No Input File Specified”. In other words, Can’t read posts, can’t read can’t enter forums, can’t view profile.
I saw the plugins to integrate, and downloaded the WP plugin, which says is activated (although I’m not sure how to edit it appropriately with the prefixes), and apparently there’s a plugin for bbpress but I can only find the “trac” version of it, not the original, and anyway can’t get to the dashboard to do anything with it. When I could, the trac version didn’t show up, even though I had uploaded that to the my-plugins directory as instructed in the integrating section…

I run a forum where people share advice, much like bbpress. Most posts are started by someone asking a question, so bbratings is not much help.
It would help a lot if people could use a feature like bbratings to rate responses to the post, rather than the post itself. That way others who come along could see the best advice.
Is this possible with bbratings, or does someone else have any ideas? (Warning, I’m kind of a noob.)

I just finished installing and now, when I click on say the first post I get a 404 Not Found the requested url http:// was not found on this server.
I have mod_rewrite set to false and, oh, because I’m hosted by Yahoo, I’m not allowed to have a .htaccess file.
any ideas?
I just finished installing bbPress with WordPress MU and did the integration on install. Problem is, I can’t find the bbPress admin panel. Can anyone help me out? Thanks!
Is it possible to “square off” avatars in the Avatar Upload plugin?
For example, I upload a avatar thats 140×160 and the system is set to have avatars at 100×100 – it would resize the image to be 100×100, centering the image – it would cut off the rest?

I’m in the process of installing bbPress. I’ve uploaded it to my server and now I’m at the install.php step 1.
So, here’s my question: Should the info on the first page match the info I placed in the config.php file? Should User Name be the same? Forum name be the same? And, where it says location does that mean www.my_really_cool_site.com/forums?
This may sound like a weird question, but I don’t want to chance screwing this up.

Installed it with xampp on my laptop.
The install seems to be ok, no error. After install I can log in, can do some moderate, I can write post, but when I publish it it shows:
Object not found!
The requested URL was not found on this server. The link on the referring page seems to be wrong or outdated. Please inform the author of that page about the error.

It is the same when I want go into a forum or edit a user or view a post.
How to solve it?
In management, I can create a forum. But when I try to visit it, I get the “Doh” WP page!
I think the bbPress Admin page is not able to create the folders, etc that are needed (or really, is not creating). I think the folder has the right permissions set, but I don’t know what going on really.
