I have installed the wordpress in http://example.com/

and bbpress in http://example.com/forum

The database is successfully integrated. wp user can use the same username and password to login bbpress. There is some weird cookies going on. Users login to wordpress but they need to login again in bbpress. However, when they logout wordpress and it will automatically logout in bbpress too. I have read some of the post so I add this to wp-config.php

define(‘COOKIE_DOMAIN’, ”);

define(‘COOKIEPATH’, ‘/’);

And I also add this to bbpress bb-config.php

$bb->path = ‘/forum/’;

$bb->usercookie = ‘wordpressuser’;

$bb->passcookie = ‘wordpresspass’;

But no luck and it doesn’t work. I see someone who can see their cookies in the computer…. And I am not sure how to see if the site create a cookies for me. I am using Mac OSX 10.4. Firefox. I am not sure how to see the cookies is created in my computer or not. It would be great if someone can guide me through like a newbie…. Thank you very much for any of your help.

I’m dealing with 2 databases for my site, one for wordpress and a different one for the forum.

I have converted my phpbb3 forum to bbPress recently, (they were both installed on the same database to enable the conversion).

When I tried to integrate my WordPress blog with my bbPress forum it went bad. I want to backup my bbPress forum via phpmyadmin (as a sql file) and start all over with the install. I’d like to install bbPress on the same database that WordPress is on & also integrate it with WP when I install.

Is there a way I can restore my sql file of my bbPress forum so I don’t lose anything? If so, how do I restore do the restore into bbPress? I’m unable to access the control panel of bbPress now because of the failed integration. I’m still able to log into WordPress.

Is it advisable to use this for a live site and will the avatar plugin work for this version

Helleo , Why bbpress dont Suport arabic names in registration ?

is there a way to control access to the forum? I want readers to also have to login, but can’t see how to set this in the admin panel.

I am a new WP and BBpress user.. I have read through a few other threads here regarding similar issues.. I am tryign to install the “allow-images.php” plug in for a BBpress… I have created the my-pluguns folder in the root of BBpress and placed the “allow-images.php” file in that folder. My understanding is the next step should be to activate the plugin…..

Do i do that in the admin section of the forum? or admin section of WP?

I cannot see a plugins section on the forum side of BBpress.. I am familiar with installing plugins on regular WP…. Am i missing something here? If i am.. Where in BBpress admin is the plugin section?

I’d also like to pat myself on the back for having done two successful install/integrations of bbp and wp by following the integration screencast. Both have worked very well — I did have to use the fix admin login plugin on one, but it has worked since. The trick for a non-coder like me is to have the screencast in a separate window and pause it at every step.

For the site in my profile, www.herbalremedyforum.com , I’m using the tarski theme on the wordpress side, and the matching geneologies theme on the bbpress side. The two look fantastic together!

So my question is this: what’s the most effective way for me to get the knowledge/skills I need to pimp out my bbpress site like I did with my wp site as a non-coder? I’m not lazy — it just seems like I’m missing some basic information like how to get link into the bp sidebar with a widget as in wp.

As a bottom line, is there a suite of plug ins that gives the an approximation of the intuitive interface of the WP admin area? Or do I (gulp) need to go back to school and get a computer science degree? Somewhere in between? It seems like given the hand holding from the screencast that there must be other handholding that I’m not finding for the other basic stuff.

So two of the basic hand holdy questions: how do I put a link from my forum back to my wp blog? And how do a put an image in the header of the forum to match that of the wp blog?

Can I hold two databases in same place using mysql, one is for forum and another is for myself (not for wordpress)?

When I install bbpress 0.9.0.4, it can’t been connected with forum-database(stick in step 1), although I use databaseConnect.php to test it that success connecting forum-database. But I use myself-database to replace it, it is work and pass step 1. 2. 3. (myself-database is first, forum-database is second in order.)

But it can’t be loged in, anybody password is incorrect in my forum. After using recovered password it still doesn’t work. I think the problem is forum-tables mixed with myself-tables, they stay in one database. So I want to reinstall bbPress but I worry to stick step 1 same before. Could you give me some suggestion.

I use bbPress 0.9.0.4 , not integrated with WordPress. My server use Linux CentOS, Apache 2.2.3, Mysql5.045 and Php 5.1.6 .
