I’ve been testing the latest bbPress 2.3-rc1 and BuddyPress 1.7 beta2, and I noticed that the subscribe to topic link and “Notify me of follow-up replies via email” checkbox no longer appears. “Favorites” appear as normal, but not “Subscribe”.
I had a look at the code inside bbPress/form-reply.php and bbPress/form-topic (http://jsfiddle.net/kraigg/jVvzv/) which calls bbp_is_subscriptions_active. It seems that the conditions aren’t being met, and so the subscribe link and checkbox no longer appear. If I remove the If statement from the code, the subscribe link and checkbox appears on the page again, but I’m afraid it might break something else later down the track.
I was logged in as the administrator and viewed an open topic. I also looked inside Dashboard > Settings > Forums and verified that the checkbox “Allow users to subscribe to topics” was ticked.
Is there a fix for this? Should I add this as a new Trac issue?
Topic: wysiwyg
Howdy all, is there a wysiwyg for bbpress within buddypress or am I missing something? I have latest WP with buddypress 1.7 and bbpress 2.2.4. Can I install bbpress 2.3 beta for this?
Thanks, Jon
Dear Support-Team!
I use WP 3.5.1 with BP 1.6.5 and bbPress 2.2.4
I just started the Forum integration with WP and BP – everything works fine. Coming to my issue.
1. I tested a user, registered in WP/BP as subscriber. I think this is standard. The same user gets the role for bbPress as participant. That’s standard too.
2. My test user started in BP a hidden group, so he’s the admin of this group. He activated the bbPress forum function for his own hidden group. Although he’s the admin of the BP group he cannot start writing any forum article because he hasn’t the rights for it. It’s only allowed to answer to articles other user made.
My suggestion is. That groups with its own forum, started by one person as admin, should have just the rights for this area. I see that bbPress rights are given for all forums in BP. But this isn’t fine because user should act more locally in their groups.
Note:
If I start a group as admin in Facebook maybe, I’ve just control over this group and not over all other Facebook groups (explanation just for a better understanding). Is there any way to change this?
Thank you for support
Best Regards,
ThorstenThe widget works fine on the home.php. But when I load it on my category.php it shows recent posts from wordpress, not recent forum posts. Can someone help me and tell me why?
I am having trouble with running bbPress 2.2.4 and BuddyPress 1.6.4 on the Custom Community 1.14 theme with WordPress 3.5.1 . I have disabled all other plugins and rebuilt permalinks to different structures, to no avail.
The site is http://www.surprisecommunity.com
When my registered users click “Submit” to enter a topic or a reply, an error page results. It seems that there is some conflict in the slug/permalink configuration. The new topic/reply will post but not before the user is shown a page like this:`

`Any ideas about what is going on??
Hey guys, I did quite a bit of research on this one but I am yet to find a solution.
I am looking display a list of the ‘Latest Topics’ on the ‘Forum Index’ page and the ‘Homepage’ of my blog.
This was easy in the older versions of BBPress wherein you could modify the ‘archive-forum.php’ or ‘page-front-forums.php’, but it does not work with bbpress 2.2.4.
Anyone here knows of a solution?
Topic: Netball forum
This is my netball forum, migrated to bbPress from phpbb:
The import sort of mucked up, so I have a few odd Anonymous users here and there that I have been having to change in the database, but no other problems otherwise.
We designed it to fit into our website as much as possible. Our website is an online digital netball magazine, with the latest netball news and netball forum too.
Thanks @netweb for your help!
WordPress 3.5.1
Buddypress Version 1.6.4
Bbpress Version 2.3-beta2I’ve looked around for a while but I can’t seem to find a fix. After installing bbpress Version 2.3 beta2, anyone who is not logged in cannot see the first post of any thread.
I’ve already gone through and tested by deactivating every one of my plugins with the exception of buddypress.
Any suggestions…
I have bbpress installed on my site, when I log in with a test normal account (participant), and click on forum page, I just got 404 error.
I deactive all the plugins, and check one by one, finally I found this plugin caused this 404 error, okay, I found the problem, but I don’t know how to fix it 😀 I don’t want to deactive any more either forever.
Thank you in advance.
WordPress version: 3.5.1
bbpress version: 2.2.4
http://cchfh.org/testI created a user role called Board using “members” plugin and assigned all roles shown here for participant (http://codex.bbpress.org/bbpress-user-roles-and-capabilities/#participant)
I set the WordPress General settings, New User Default Role, to Board.
I set the Default role for the Forum to Participant.
I created a test user account which is set to Board and Participant. When I login with that account and go to the test page the forum doesn’t show up. But it does show up with my Admin role account.
What am I doing wrong?
Topic: No forum roles
Hi All,
I’m using the latest version of bbPress plugin.
I don’t see any forum roles such as: Keymaster, moderator etc. when I’m editing or adding a user. Any idea what might be wrong?
Thanks
Topic: Upgrade problem 1.0.2 to 1.2
Hello
We’ve been using bbpress almost since the beginning, and we currently have a quite big forum.
Site is this http://iphonefan.com forum is here http://iphonefan.com/foro as you can see it’s also quite modded and customized.
So upgrading was not something we did frequently, but a recent necessary php and mysql upgrade forced us to upgrade our wordpress and bbpress. WordPress upgrade went ok, but bbpress was a problem since we just learned it moved from being a standalone version to a plugin version.
Since the problem we had was the the recent php and mysql brought some error like these:
`Deprecated: Assigning the return value of new by reference is deprecated in /home/ifans/public_html/foro/bb-settings.php on line 186
Deprecated: Assigning the return value of new by reference is deprecated in /home/ifans/public_html/foro/bb-includes/backpress/functions.wp-object-cache.php on line 108
Deprecated: Assigning the return value of new by reference is deprecated in /home/ifans/public_html/foro/bb-includes/backpress/pomo/mo.php on line 171
Deprecated: Assigning the return value of new by reference is deprecated in /home/ifans/public_html/foro/bb-includes/functions.bb-l10n.php on line 484
Deprecated: Assigning the return value of new by reference is deprecated in /home/ifans/public_html/foro/bb-includes/backpress/class.wp-taxonomy.php on line 581`
Import from 1.0.2 (our latest forum version) to latest bbpress was a nightmare (duplicated forums, topics, posts. Stalled conversions and so on). So looking for advice here ate bbpress forums found that it could be easier if I upgraded first from 1.0.2 to 1.2. I downloaded the legacy version, the backpress files (whatever they were) and the “pomo” folder (also don’t know what it is).
We decided to try to upgrade to 1.2 as suggested. Everything went fine, uploaded files helped, the errors didn’t show in this version, next step was going to the admin panel and upgrade the database, clicked the “upgrade database” button and then another error.
`Network Error (tcp_error)
A communication error occurred: “Operation timed out”
The Web Server may be down, too busy, or experiencing other problems preventing it from responding to requests. You may wish to try again at a later time. For assistance, contact your network support team.`
I can’t tell what’s happening, I’ve tried to increase the maximum execution time, the php memory, nothing worked so far.
What can I do? how can I upgrade the database without this timeout error? is it possible to do it through shell? Is a setting I need to move in my server?
Please help!
