    hello all

    I am enjoying working with wordpress/bbpress/s2member on a new website.

    I would like to limit all users time, except for admin, to 1 hour per day.

    Is this possible?

    Thank you

    Did anyone help you out here?

    Have to say bbPress support is absolutely useless – It’s a pity.

    Perhaps someone could start an “unofficial” support forum where people actually do provide support other than:

    – Ignore the issue
    – Blame the issue on WordPress
    – Blame the issue on WordPress theme

    Hope someone can help with this simple request -How to insert a text (like adsense for example) above and below the forum page !!!

    Well, this hack (https://bbpress.trac.wordpress.org/ticket/1478#comment:7) correct the 404 error :
    `
    function fix_bbp_404() {
    global $wp_query;

    if ( $wp_query->bbp_is_single_user ||
    $wp_query->bbp_is_single_user_edit ||
    $wp_query->bbp_is_view
    ) {
    $wp_query->is_404 = false;
    // Unset nocache_headers
    foreach( wp_get_nocache_headers() as $name => $field_value ) {
    @header( “{$name}: ” );
    }
    // Set status 200
    status_header( 200 );
    }
    }
    add_action( ‘wp’, ‘fix_bbp_404’ );
    `

    I tried the trunk version but didn’t get any result… Hack above fix the issue… even if it return wrong title.

    Ok so after a while I thought this might actually be a plugin issue instead, after deactivating and re-activating them one by one, WordPress SEO turned out to be the culprit. All works fine now!

    Hi,

    I have a new installation of WP/Buddypress that I’ve installed and I have a question regarding Group Forums. For some reason I am not seeing the “Notify me of follow-up replies via e-mail” checkbox that should appear below the “tags” option as seen in these forums as well as here:

    http://mercime.files.wordpress.com/2011/11/bp-forums-19.gif

    Driving me nuts. Is there a way to turn this feature on? What am I missing?

    I am having trouble with running bbPress 2.2.4 and BuddyPress 1.6.4 on the Custom Community 1.14 theme with WordPress 3.5.1 . I have disabled all other plugins and rebuilt permalinks to different structures, to no avail.
    The site is http://www.surprisecommunity.com
    When my registered users click “Submit” to enter a topic or a reply, an error page results. It seems that there is some conflict in the slug/permalink configuration. The new topic/reply will post but not before the user is shown a page like this:

    The document has moved here.

    Additionally, a 302 Found
    error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

    @sadr No.  Before i started to write this theme, i inspect all Bootstrap+ WordPress solutions that i can use. After i see there is no solution for me that i am happy with it, i decide to write my own theme. In Roots theme, i like their solution for Walker_Nav_Menu so i used this section. Basically only this file is from Roots theme: https://themes.svn.wordpress.org/firmasite/1.1.7/functions/nav.php

    A funny note: I was using Infinity theme as my parent theme until 2 months ago. I was using it because their option panel was letting upload images with 1 click (custom plupload implement). When they removed it, i decide to change my parent theme

    Does Yootheme WordPress Integrate with bbpress??

    If not, can someone let me know how to fix let the dates show?

    Edit the file in wp-content/plugins/bbpress/includes/core

    the file to edit is called capabilities.php

    Incorrect; *never* edit any files in bbPress’s directory; you’ll lose those edits when software updates come in.

    – Research how WordPress’s actions/filters/plugins work. It’s a little dizzying at first, but a few lines of code can get you up and running.

    Please try this code instead:

    add_filter ( ‘bbp_get_reply_post_date’, ‘act_fecha’, 10, 6);
    add_filter ( ‘bbp_get_topic_post_date’, ‘act_fecha’, 10, 6);

    function act_fecha( $result, $reply_id, $humanize, $gmt, $date, $time ) {
    $date = get_post_time( get_option( ‘date_format’ ), $gmt, $reply_id, $translate = true );
    $result = sprintf( _x( ‘%1$s at %2$s’, ‘date at time’, ‘bbpress’ ), $date, $time );
    $return $result;
    }

    The above code would now work.

    you could try buddypress, it has more control over groups and such

    with the plugins i listed, you should be able to create 1 level of private forums, just use hidden forums for clan members or site mods group, assign access to hidden forums via user role editor

    have a look a this plugin too

    https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/groups/

    you could also try a plugin called s2member which allows protection of individual forums via “URI Level Access Restrictions” this (free) plugin is intended for pay sites but you could make all levels $0 i guess

    https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/s2member/

    http://www.s2member.com/forums/topic-tag/bbpress/

    but in the end, proper per forum group permissions as in phpbb etc are something i would really like to see in bbpress

    for reference, from the bbpress docs –

    Visibility: decide whether your forum is public, private or hidden.
    Public – Anyone can see these forums
    Private – Only logged in registered users can see these forums
    Hidden: Only Moderators/Admins can see these forums

    i have a bit of background w phpbb and have recently been working w bbpress, while permissions are not quite as advanced you get close with one of the plugins listed below

    https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/user-role-editor/

    https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/members/

    https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/advanced-access-manager/

    specifically, you can create a new role called something like “site mods” and give that role access to hidden or private groups and assign that role to your users as needed

    Hey there,

    The answer might be a no brainer for others that have been using the plugin version of bbpress for a while, but just like you I just migrated from the standalone version and suddenly I felt completely lost as I was used to editing the php templates for everything. I probably missed this explanation as it’s been a while since I visit bbpress.org.

    Here’s the deal. You need to use the shortcodes provided here: https://codex.bbpress.org/shortcodes/

    That’s the short answer. What I didn’t know was that you need to add these shortcodes on the page you create in WordPress for your forums. So, say you have your forums at yoursite.com/forums. You need to create a page in wordpress called “forums”, after you have done that, you can add the shortcodes on the page to customize bbpress to your liking (others can correct me if I’m wrong as I just recently figured this out).

    So adding [bbp-forum-index], will display your entire forum index. Then you would need to add [bbp-topic-index] to display the most recent 15 topics across all your forums with pagination.

    What I still have not been able to figure out is that when you add the login tag [bbp-login] on the homepage (not the sidebar), there’s no option for login out once you’re logged in. If you find the answer for this, let me know. Hope this helps.

    @unsalkorkmaz congratulations for passing the WP theme review process 🙂 Do follow up theme reviewers mailing list if the theme’s not live in WordPress Extend Themes after 7 days.

    Those who (like me) have recently upgraded from the bbpress standalone version to the plugin version of bbpress, will be glad to know that Arne Branchold’s WordPress plugin “Google XML Sitemaps”, has the ability to include your bbpress forum posts into your xml sitemap. You can download the plugin here: http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/google-sitemap-generator/

    I’ve been using this plugin for years so I was glad to find this option. It took me a few days to figure this out, so I thought I would share this info in case there are others wondering about a way to include your posts into your wordpress sitemap.

    Go to Settings -> XML-Sitemap. Under sitemap content -> Custom Post Types: select “Include custom post type Forums” and “Include custom post type Topics”. Then update options from the bottom and click on “rebuild the sitemap manually” from the top to update your sitemap. If you have a google webmaster tools account, you can now resubmit your sitemap to google.

    By the way, WordPress 3.5.1 and bbPress 2.2.4

    De nada… 😉

    Hello,

    Wondering if anybody has experience with the “404 Redirected” wordpress plugin?

    When this 404 plugin is enabled I cannot use the front end forum/reply editing feature.

    This URL http://ultimateclientmanager.com/topic/add-an-other-taxe/edit/ simply redirects to this url http://ultimateclientmanager.com/topic/add-an-other-taxe/

    bbPress 2.2.4 and WordPress 3.5.1

    Does anybody know why the 404 plugin is identifying this URL as a 404 and doing the redirect?

    Thanks,
    Dave

    I have a website which has many accounts (Say A, B, C, D). Now suppose I have selected account “A” and navigates to various pages from 1->2->3 and so on.

    Say I am on page 3 (for Account “A”), now I want to switch my account from “A” to “B”, but want to remain on Page 3.

    What is currently happening in my wordpress site, when I switch the accounts (be it on any page), I am always redirected to my site’s Homepage.

    I want even if I am switching account, I want to remain on same page of my website.
    Can someone please help me on the same!!

    Let me share a snap of the same. As per the first snapshot (Snap_one.png), I am currently under Manage Project page (Logged in as Admin) for Account ThingieMcThingie (encircled in yellow).

    Now, when I switch the account from ThingieMcThingie to some other (The Poke – for example), I am redirected to my website’s homepage itself.

    The Account has been switched successfully, but I am redirected to my Homepage(or Dashboard Page).Snap_One.png

    What I want is, when I switch the accounts, I should remain at the same page (My Projects in above example).

    Snap_One – When I am Logged in as Admin under My Projects page for ThingieMcThingie account

    Snap_Two – When I am switching account from ThingieMcThingie to The Poke.

    Snap_Three – When I have switched my account from ThingieMcThingie to The Poke. The Page is redirected from My Projects to Homepage (Dashboard Page)

    Thanks
    Tarun

    Hi there,

    I installed bbpress for a Service and Therapy Dog programs for certain Therapy Volunteer members to communicate with each other in this type of forum. I’m tightening up the nuts and bolt on this forum, but one of the members has point on a matter.

    This is what she (Heather a.k.a. mheather54) said,

    “.…i can go straight to the post from my email link (email notification), i still need to log in if i want to post (which is a good thing), but it would be nice if, when i log in, it redirects me back to the post i was reading, or at least to the therapy volunteer forum.  instead, it takes me all the way out to my word press profile.

    Reply link to T.V. member mheather54: http://pawsteams.org/tv-forum/forums/topic/forum-placement/#post-95

    Is there a way that I can re-direct the user back to the post when they log-in to reply to topic??? Also, I noticed that when I log-in, it sends me to my dashboard instead of the actual forum.

    What I have running under the hood of WP:

    • WP version 3.5.1
    • bbPress version 2.2.4

    WP Theme: Twenty Twelve version 1.1

    WP Plugins that are active:

    • Akismet version 2.5.7
    • bbPress version 2.2.4
    • bbPress Notify version 0.2.1
    • Captcha Code version 2.1
    • Hello Dolly version 1.6
    • Login LockDown version 1.5
    • Ultimate TinyMCE (free) version 4.1
    • WordPress Importer 0.6

    Here’s the link to the landing page: http://pawsteams.org/tv-forum/

    I would greatly appreciate your help! 🙂

    Warmest Regards,

    Hi everyone

    I’ve bee banging my head for a couple of days with my bbpress forum. There is a problem with the sidebar on the forum page as you can see here http://tricksforaffiliates.com/?post_type=forum . The sidebar location is before the main page instead of next to it. It works ok everywhere else.

    I’ve tried to find where the problem lies. At first I called the forum via a page with the link to option and could remove the sidebar from page.php but of course that made it disappear everywhere else too. I checked the bbpress php files and usually appears before the footer call not after header. I don’t know if that tells me anything.

    I also tried finding something with firebug but to no avail. I am able to remove the dash and the page looks ok, but the problem is cause I can’t figure out which document the code refers to and don’t know where to search for a problem.

    Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Wordpress version: 3.5.1
    bbPress version: 2.2.4
