bbPress is tested with wordpress default themes. It maybe a conflict – you need to check plugins and themes

It could be a theme or plugin issue

Plugins

Deactivate all but bbpress and see if this fixes. if it does, re-enable one at a time to see which is causing the error.

Themes

If plugins don’t pinpoint the problem, as a test switch to a default theme such as twentyfifteen, and see if this fixes.

Having converted from PHPBB 3.1.10 and run all of the repair functions I am having a few issues with things not being correctly reported.
1. All of the voices counts are set zero.
2. Last activity is incorrect; http://wordpress-6213-13994-191680.cloudwaysapps.com/forums/forum/general-hysterectomy/alternatives-to-hysterectomy/ says forum last updated 4 months ago but topics show from just 2 months ago.

I had to use 2.6a to get the import from PHPBB; should I switch to 2.5.11 now?

I’m facing a problem related to forum topics. On the listing of forum topics, when I click on any topic in the list, it display the detail page of latest topic. URL is correct but show title and content of latest topic.

I’m very new to all of this and I just installed and activated bbpress. I’ve searched and I cannot find instructions for connecting a menu item I created “Discussion Forums” to the actual forums. I see that there are slugs and short codes in the settings menu of the dashboard, but I can’t figure out how to make it all work.

I have already searched for my question in bbPress support forum (where I am posting now), there are previous threads on this question but the plugin mentioned at that time is now unsupported now (bbPress like topics, last updated 2 years ago). Another thread on the same topic don’t have reply. So I decided to bring this matter into the attention of bbPress authors again. If bbPress already contains this feature, please let me know as well.

bbPress don’t have a voting up feature built in. So the topics get sorted by just last activity and not popularity. A forum seems incomplete without a voting option for topics and replies.

I tried different plugins for this feature. There are many plugins on voting but they are mostly for WordPress posts, not bbPress topics and replies. Some plugins are able to put a “Vote Up” option above the topic, but it doesn’t help the topics to get sorted based on it. Some plugins only shows “vote up” written and instead of a button. Moreover these plugins only can vote topics and not the replies.

Please also include a feature to show the number of votes besite the topic in feeds. Because people choose which topic to read in the feed page.

I always found this community very helpful. I am sure this issue will get noticed.

I have just updated to WordPress version 4.7 and bbPress version 2.5.12. I am a web developer creating a site for a client, so the work is only locally on my machine; however, I’ve added the appropriate function to the filter ‘bbp_verify_nonce_request_url’ so that it should be working appropriately (I had to do this to fix the problem that led to this new one). Now, every time I try to post a new topic through the front end (rather than via the WordPress dashboard), the above error appears (“ERROR: Your topic needs a title.”) despite the fact that I have submitted a title. Any help would be appreciated!

I have the latest 4.7 version of WordPress and installed the latest bbPress plugin (updated 4 days ago).

When I click on Forums->All forums, in the WP Dashboard, it shows me a full white blank page. Upon typing website.com/forums, it shows a blank page. The newly created forum link website.com/forums/forum/forum is also completely blank. I’ve tried this on two themes – Twenty Sixteen and Twenty Seventeen. Both showed blank page.

I tried creating a new page and pasting [bbp-forum-index] but that gave me the following code as the result:

Hi,

First, a quick description of the issue:
When using a bbPress Login Widget in combination with Jetpack and its Protect module activated, logging in via the widget will
1. redirect the user to a stand-alone math puzzle page which in turn (whether the puzzle was solved or failed) will
2. redirect to the normal wp-login.php page where the user will have to
3. fill out login credentials and solve another math puzzle again (!) and after submission, the user is
4. redirected to the dashboard instead of back to the original forum page.

So, besides the inconvenience of having to pass the same login credentials twice and solve two different math puzzles, the user will find himself searching for the page he came from, which defeats the whole idea of the login widget…

I found a way to make Jetpack Protect and the bbPress Login Widget work together (by allowing the math puzzle to be inserted directly into the login form in the sidebar) but looking for users to test it in different circumstances like hosting environments, caching plugins etc.

The fix is this:

Open the Jetpack file modules/protect.php for editing (can be done in the WordPress plugin editor) and change:
1. line 53 from

add_action( 'login_init', array ( $this, 'check_use_math' ) );

to

add_action( 'login_form', array ( $this, 'check_use_math' ) );

2. line 61 from

add_action( 'login_head', array ( $this, 'check_login_ability' ) );

to

add_action( 'login_form', array ( $this, 'check_login_ability' ), 0 );

(notice the added “,0” there at the end too!)

Next Save, activate Jetpack’s Protect module and add the bbPress Login Widget to your forum sidebar. Then visit your site in an anonymous browser window and test logging in via the widget.

You’ll see I don’t know what I’m doing here. What follows is what I tried.

I put the following into my 2013 child theme:
1. a folder titled “bbpress” which contained the following all copied from the bbpress plugin folder:

3. a folder titled “css”
4. a folder titled “extras”
5. a folder titled “js”
6. a file titled “bbpress-functions.php

I replaced the top of the bbpress.css file which was in the “css” folder with this:

Then I increased the font-size for the bbpress forums from 12 px to 20px and other such changes to see if it worked.

Surprise! Surprise! It didn’t work.

Having the problem that my Forum just isn’t showing up. It’s there in the meno on the admin, alongside everything else. But when I click on it, I just get the grey Chrome page saying “this page won’t load” or “work” or whatever, alongside “HTTP ERROR 500”. No idea what this is, starting to get annoyed. Everything is set up as it should be, but the forum won’t load. When I click on my homepage on the middle “Forums” button: Same story. Just a Chrome error screen, not even a 404 page.

What am I doing wrong?

I recently updated WordPress and BBPress. Everything appeared to be in good shape last Friday but today the categories for the forum show on the main menu but the forum and all the related content are missing. I can see that the plugin is active but I do not see it in the WP admin. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks

OK. Well after some harrowing attempts to rebuild from older versions of bbPress and WordPress I ended up reverting back to the most recent of both, 4.7 and 2.5.12, respectively.

And presto! Everything is now as it should be. WTF?!

Maybe something got fouled up in the DB conversion or I simply needed to kick something loose.

Anyway, nevermind.

I noticed textarea for newtopic description is generated using bbp_the_content function. I.e., not available in form-topic.php site specific copy.

If this is worth your time, how do I add placeholder attribute in the following list, without breaking the upgrade mechanism? I mean if it is a five minute job for any of you. Otherwise I can spend my own time to work around it using css… it’s nagging me that you all would not have forgotten to allow for this …reasonably important thing… I think.
