reformatting ALL CAPS

Published on April 21st, 2015 by andrew55

Is there a method to reformat the titles and content of topics/replies so that “all caps” are changed to “Sentence case”? This would be great when some users insist or don’t even realize they are writing in all caps.

THANKS FOR ANY SUGGESTIONS:)

User Navigation not working properly (Topics Started, Replies Created, etc)

Published on April 21st, 2015 by sharongraylac

There seems to be an issue with my Profile page.

The links in the user navigation (below the avatar) do not seem to be working.

1. Links are empty (even though there have been topics written and replies created).
2. There is over 4500px of white space under “Replies Created”.

Here’s a link to my own profile: http://bellynsoul.com/forums/students/admin/

Is there a way to fix this?

Thanks!
Sharon

Any thoughts?

Can’t seem to make login short code work

Published on April 20th, 2015 by sharongraylac

Hello!

I tried adding the BBpress login shortcode () to my “My Account” page, but it does not appear. Is there something I’m missing?

Thanks!

Strange Whitespace

Published on April 20th, 2015 by sharongraylac

I just noticed a LOT of white space (over 2000px) in the profiles under “Replies Created”. Interestingly, each item in the list under the avatar has a different height. Any way to even them out?

Thanks!

Upload & Embed Images

Published on April 20th, 2015 by The Kestrel

Hello,

I’d like to find a way to have all users on the forums be able to upload images and have them embedded in a post. I’ve tried both solutions below and Enable TinyMCE Visual Tab only links the image and inserting the code from the second link doesn’t work.

bbPress Enable TinyMCE Visual Tab
Add media upload button to bbpress

Any new insight on achieving this? The media button would be perfect for what I’m looking for.

Thanks!

How do I create a private forum for paying customers?

Published on April 20th, 2015 by sharongraylac

Hey there,

I’ve read several threads as well as the getting started documentation, and I’m still totally confused about private forums.

I’m about to teach an online class via my website, and I’ve created a discussion forum for students who have registered for the class.

How do I allow ONLY those who have registered for my class to access the forum?

Do I need a special plugin other than BBpress?

Thanks so much!
Sharon

Priming the pump?

Published on April 20th, 2015 by inventorgeorge

I have set up a new forum. Going public with an empty forum does not seem to me to be much of an encouragement for people to join in, so I would like to “prime the pump” – add some topics and replies to get it started.
is there an easy way to add topics/replies with various author names without creating new accounts and logging in for each one?

OK, this probably considered cheating, but would you join in a forum if it were completely empty?

Forum overlapped by sidebar, width problem

Published on April 20th, 2015 by w-sky

Hi there, this is a follow-up to my post because as it turned out, those were not the main problem. (The post display was too wide, similar to the problem below; and the translated german titles of the message count rows were wrapped to a second line, whereas the shorter english titles would have worked. Both were fixed individually by css.)

Now I am still having this problem with at the compose area. See below. This is an animated GIF to show the effect when some text is entered.

Is there a limit on Private groups?

Published on April 20th, 2015 by leeleepompom

Long story short. Created forum, used bbp Private Groups. We needed to have a journal on our website that ONLY the admins and “user A” can see.

I had no problem setting it up.. I created a new user, went to log in, and that section of the forum isn’t showing up.

In the admin account, you can see the journal.

I’ll post pics for you to understand.

Forum list – freshness showing last topic date, not reply

Published on April 20th, 2015 by cirrus123

Hi there – for some reason when I view my forum list page, it is showing the date the last topic was created, not the last reply in that topic.

However, when I click on that forum, in the topic list it shows the correct time and date of the last reply.

Is this normal?
