Creating Private Topics

Published on January 29th, 2017 by malburke

Good afternoon,

I am currently working on my website which utilises BBpress for it’s key function. I have set all of the forums to private so that only users can visit them. I am now currently trying to prevent a category of user from being able to access other user’s posts.

I am using the user role editor plugin to do this, which allows me to prevent people from reading private topics. Sounds easy enough, but how do I set topics (as opposed to forums) to private?

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Is there an easy way to change the appearance of quotes in bbp?

This is how they currently look.

Change the default “Search the Forum” text

Published on January 29th, 2017 by adamjedgar

How may i change the default search box text “Search the Forum” to something else?

My client does not want a forum, however, i need to organisational structure of a forum to catalogue all of clients articles correctly…so forum is needed (but client must not see the obvious)

if deactivated, will content be saved.

I have BBPress installed on our organization website. Unfortunately, we are getting a good number of spammers subscribing daily to the forum presumably looking to post backlinks. I have not figured out how to stop this except to deactivate the plugin. If I do that, will the content that is currently in the forums be saved. Will I be able to reactivate the plugin at a later date and have the content in tact? Better yet, is there a way to better screen subscribers to prevent spammers from subscribing.

Thank you.

New Users Can’t Post

Published on January 28th, 2017 by horizon70s

I’m sure this has to be an oversight on my part…but for the life of me I can’t figure out why new users can’t respond to admin posts.

As an admin, I can post anything. Users appear to be able to reply, but when they hit submit it reloads and no new posts?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi. I need to manually delete some posts, because I have them so much I cannot open Posts list in my admin panel. I tried to search for them in my database, bu I do not know where are actually these posts stored.

Widget Forum List only showing when inside a forum

Published on January 28th, 2017 by cit1000

Hi

after being logged in the

(bbPress) Recent Topics
works great from every part of the website.

but the

(bbPress) Forums List
shows only a title of the widget and no forums, UNLESS I´m browsing into the forums themselves…then there is everything (‘any’) fine.

Is this familiar to anyone?

Forum Last Post not being updated

Published on January 28th, 2017 by Steveim

I have a Forum which shows the Last Post as being 2months 2 weeks ago. However, if you go into the forum you can see many topics have Last Post dates which are more recent.

I’ve run all of the repair jobs but nothing has changed.

Edit my old posts on THIS forum

Published on January 28th, 2017 by stewmills

I have been doing some SEO work and looking at links back to my site, and since I used active hyperlinks in my posts here, some search results pick up this forum dialogue. It seems I can’t edit my old posts to deidentify my site hyperlinks in my old posts here.

Can a moderator assist with making these edits for my posts, and how do we go about this?

White font on white background problem…

Published on January 27th, 2017 by laurafr

Hey guys,

maybe someone of you can help me…we´ve changed our theme (to “News magazine”), and after the change the forum replies (not the first one of a topic) are white on white and only if you hover over the font, you can see the text. Like here: http://ratgeber-umschulung.de/umschulungsforum/thema/umschulung-labor/ Does anybody know what we can change in the CSS to fix the problem without changing the Theme back?

We´d be happy for some hints…

thank you in advance and have a nice weekend!
Laura
