Forum combined with entries on the same page

Published on November 20th, 2017 by J.Parra

Hello everyone. I am using BBpress 2.5.14 with Buddypress 2.9.2 in a WordPress 4.9 and I have the following question.

On my website I have both entries and discussions marked as “downloads” and I would like to know if I can combine both formats on the same page or entry, of wordpress.
That is to say, when accessing a page, the entries with the category “Downloads” are listed and on the same page the forum “Downloads” with the debates.

Listing entries is not a problem, the problem is whether I can include the forum “downloads” on the same page.

Thanks and regards.

Pagination Broken Links 404

Published on November 19th, 2017 by Jason

I’m using WP 4.9 and bbpress 2.5.14. I never noticed this problem before, but when I click the pagination links on the category page (or index page of forums) I get a 404 error message. The links end in page/2, page/3, etc. If I manually change the links to page2, page3, they work! I have searched online for two days now, and most suggestions tell me to reset permalinks. I’ve tried all permalink options, changed to basic WP theme, disabled plugins… nothing changes the links showing page/2, page/3, etc. that bbpress is generating for pagination.

My site is not public (requires login) so I cannot show you the problem, but apparently a lot of people have experienced broken pagination links. I just do not know how to troubleshoot further. I am open to the idea of inserting a custom function to remove the extra slash (/) that bbpress is inserting in between “page” and the page number.

I appreciate any assistance! Thank you!

Customising the bbpress topic colour and topic/reply content

Published on November 18th, 2017 by eedrees

Hi team. These are my three most pressing questions. Thanks.

Problem on My website is at homepage: https://www.teamakoka.com

1. I really want to change only the default bbpress topic colour in the topic index to black (which was set navy blue by the theme because of it’s default link colour)
2. How can I change background colour of the first post in a topic content as it is on your support forum.
3. How can I add the login fields to the topic content for users that are not logged in (as it is on your support forum)

Thank You 🙂

We are using the twenty seventeen theme and building pages using Optimizepress and building a forum using BBPress. We are also using a plugin for OptimizePress bbPress fix to Allow rendering of forums on OptimizePress blog, however we are not building a blog; but a webpage for a forum using wordpress.

WordPress V4.9
BBPres v2.0-rc-3

Currently we are still building and do not have it public and therefore no way to get to the forum page except thru the direct link:

Hi. I have a few issues with bbpress. The page I need help with is https://www.thosecrazyvegans.net/forum/

1. The top of the browser tab bar it says Forums Archive – Those Crazy Vegans
however, I would like it to say Forum – ThoseCrazyVegans.net
How do I fix this?

2. When someone post a new topic they have to fill out the form at the bottom of the forum, however they cannot select a forum from the drop down menu. How to fix?

3. The search bar does not have an search button. Why and how to fix?

4. Is it possible to edit this page in X Theme Cornerstone. I am not able to.

5. The HTML code that I added to the Forum page does not work. When the New Topic link at the top of the Forum page is clicked, I would like it to go to the New Topic form at the bottom of the page. However, the HTML code that I added does not seem to work. What is the full page code for this?

Forum page code

New users suddenly no longer registered as “participants”

Published on November 17th, 2017 by traceyr-london

I have a new website/forum set up at https://freremanu.com/forum/ which has been working fine until the last few days. When I set up test users using the registration form on the side of the forum page, it would correctly set the user roles as “Subscriber/Participant” – but since about a week ago, it is only setting them as “Subscriber”.

Even if then go and manually change the forum role to “participant”, when I sign in with the test user it says the forum page is “Not Found”.

I have tried disabling all plugins & checking, but this makes no difference.

Whether I register through the Forum widget (sidebar) or through the WP Login page, the result is the same – the role is just set to Subscriber.

Does anyone have any idea what has gone wrong, and more importantly, how I can fix this?

thanks in desperation!

Desire to use .htaccess to password protect forum directory

Published on November 17th, 2017 by cold-designer34

bbpress version 2.5.13
wordpress version 4.8
theme Avada

Hi

I’ve looked around support forum here and also carefully through my localhost installation (where my bbpress forum is currently installed for test purposes) and I’m dashed if I can work out how to use .htaccess to password protect the entire forum.

I’m aware that there are other ways to authenticate users but some of my clients website visitors are young people and we are keen to ensure that access to the website forum is restricted most severely. By this I mean we wanted to place the forum in its own directory and then place .htaccess and .htpasswd in that directory to limit access to individuals who had personally been handed a note of what the username and password were.

Might I ask if I’ve missed something simple? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Have a great day
