A few issues (Please Help)

Published on November 16th, 2009 by AOA001

I’m attempting a few things here.

First, I’m trying to get the forums to show above latest discussions on the landing page. How can I go about doing this?

Second, when a user signs up, I’d like for them to be able to add their first and last name so we can capture all that data. Is this possible?

Thanks for the assistance!

My last topic was closed? database configuration settings

Published on November 16th, 2009 by brayjason

Hello again everybody,

I apologize if I posted something against the rules? My last post was closed?

Well it was about getting support installing bbpress. I have done web design in the past but never integrated a forum. I would really like to add a bbpress forum to my site.

my problem is in the database configuration settings. I uploaded to my server fine but when asked for my database configuration settings I keep getting a message saying the info I put is incorrect. I says

“”There was a problem connecting to the database you specified.

Please check the settings, then try again.”

This is the information I have to work with.

» MySQL Database

a7609595_teammix

» MySQL User

a7609595_jasonb

» MySQL Host

mysql8.000webhost.com

Any help would be great. Thank you everybody.

Also, I heard from somebody that I have to create a table on my database for this to work? I did not see that in the bbpress directions, is this correct?

Confirmation email is not sending

Published on November 15th, 2009 by mextena

I have just started with bbpress and I think there is some problem with it.

It is said that the user Confirmation mail will receive in Minutes but it hasn’t received yet. What should I do now?

Orelse please tel me the way to avoid ’email confirmation’ in user registration.

sticky not returned by get_sticky_topics()

Published on November 15th, 2009 by

Been debugging a while now.

I can stick a topic, it shows up correct in the admin interface and is marked as sticky. However it does not show up as sticky in my latest discussions. Noticed that get_sticky_topics() is not returning my sticky topic. Echoing the sql executed gives the answer: “get_sticky_topics()” returns topics where topic_sticky=2, while my sticky topic have topic_sticky=1. All other (non-sticky topics) have status topic_sticky=0.

Running bbPress 1.0.2

What is wrong here?

Why in post body?

Published on November 15th, 2009 by paamayim

I was exploring bbPress tables before importing data from vBulletin and noticed that post bodies contain
…
and I was wondering why this choice was made, wasn’t better keep plain text and then, only when formatting the output, applying the markups if needed?
