I want a search for searching over my forum topics from within a private group. The overall group search seems to work fairly well identifying keywords in the group descriptions, but when I drill down into the group and see 50 Forum topics, it would be nice to be able to search over those 50 Topics for a keyword “facebook” and return all the topics that have that keyword mentioned in it’s thread.
Most of my groups are private, so obviously you’d have to be a member of the group to even get to the forum page and perform a search.
Does anyone have a solution for this?

I have a WP project with a well-established vBulletin forum which I would, in a perfect world, pull into bbPress/BuddyPress to tightly integrate with WP. I am not asking for a vBulletin importer for bbPress 1.2. I know that is a beast that is probably not worth slaying at the moment for Automattic.
With this frame of reference, I have a few questions re: bbPress 1.2 (the plugin). I have done some searching on these forums and have not found answers yet. If they exist, please point me to them.
- I assume 1.2 will cleanly upgrade from previous versions of bbPress. However, reading some of @JJJ’s posts, it looks like 1.2 may function more like a CPT plugin where everything is stored in the posts table. Is this the case? If so, will a clean migration from prior versions be possible?
- Assuming this clean upgrades are part of 1.2, would it be safe to say that following (and improving upon) some of the more cumbersome vBulletin -> bbPress migration paths (link below) would still work?
LINK: http://tinyurl.com/vb4-to-bbp
- Much has been made about how the bbPress used in BuddyPress is not really inline with the core bbPress code. Given it’s apparent design direction, is it safe to say that the 1.2 and the BuddyPress forums will effectively merge and become one code base, whether or not BuddyPress is active? If not, how will they differ?
- Are there any other glaring roadblocks to vBulletin migration that I am simply not seeing?
I am considering writing (or more likely funding the development of) a vBulletin importer script for bbPress 1.2. If I decide to go that route, I plan to give the importer back to the community. So, the goal of these questions is to help me gauge the feasibility and scope of such a project.
Thanks in advance for your feedback.

So I tried posting something and the background indicated I was being considered SPAM. Will anyone ever moderate that (as it wasn’t SPAM at all but I guess since I had two fake links in it for examples it considered it SPAM)? Or was I right to repost without the fake links?
By “fake” links I mean example hypothetical links.

I reposted this as I was apparently marked as SPAM?
We’re running into issues where new posts that should appear on a new page of a specific thread are not showing up right away. It’s kind of hard to explain but I’ll try…
So a topic has say, 90 posts, where we’re displaying 45 posts / page. When post #91 gets posted, the pagination does not go from << Prev 1 2 Next >> to << Prev 1 2 3 Next >> but stays at only showing << Prev 1 2 Next >>
If you manually change the URL from /bbpress/topic/thread-name/page/2 to /bbpress/topic/thread-name/page/3 you can see the posts, but it takes awhile for that number 3 link to show up (haven’t figured out how / when it shows up, may just be after a certain amount of time or maybe after a certain amount of posts).
I know this is kind of advanced but if anyone has any ideas they’d be GREATLY appreciated.

Hi All,
I’m new to using BBpress (first post)
I have been reading up on the difference of simple and deep integration and have become a little confused over the subject.
I want to have a simple integration so that users logins will be sync’d between WP + bbpress possibly with a single login area via WP – trying to create a closed / private environment.
If you install bbpress in a sub folder of WordPress is this effectively deep integration?
And is it possible to create a sync’d log-in (ie if you log in/out of WP it also logs you in/out of BBpress) using simple integration
sorry if it sounds a stupid question but I just want to understand where best to have the bbpress install running from to prevent slow load times due to excessive overheads on the server.
Not fussed about themes as I can do all the css and design for these and make them look the same.
Any help would be really appreciated.

I was trying to include my blogfeed under my bbpress forum by I could not get it to access the document. Is it possible to use include in bbpress to access wp files like sidebars and such?
This is how I write it:
‘<?php include (“http://www.mydomain.com/wp-content/themes/mytheme/newsfeed.php”); ?>’
Is there something wrong with this or why is this not working?

I am having some problems with my registration page. When i try to fill in the fields it says that I need to fill in a email address although I already have entered a valid address. Thats my first problem.
Second one is that the login box for the forum, that is located in the sidebar, disappears when im on the register or password page. Is there any way to get it to stick?
Thirdly, how do I change witch fields that should appear when people want to register? For example, I would not need the “Occupation” field for users on my site.
Would be glad if someone would have some input on this.
Thanx.
