New to bbPress, Trying to use bbPress 2.0 Plug-in, having problems

Published on July 16th, 2011 by optimyzed

I have successfully installed the bbPress 2.0 plugin on a WordPress 2.3.1 site. I can see the Forums, Topics, etc. on the admin menus, and I have created a forum. However, when I try to view the forum using the provided link (http://server.tld/forums/forum/family-talk/) or just trying to use the http://server.tld/forums URL, results in a not-found condition. Any thoughts?

Thanks!

PS – I did a few forums searches. I agree with the guy who said a quick how-to would be very useful! (What to do after install…)

Tag pages don't show topics

Published on July 16th, 2011 by Ashish Kumar (Ashfame)

Tag pages like http://dev.example.net/forums/topic-tag/test/ don’t show any topics. I can see topics count in dashboard but they don’t show up on frontend.

Just this message as if there were no tags Oh bother! No topics were found here!

P.S. Oh bother? Typo? :P

Accidental commit perhaps?

Published on July 16th, 2011 by Ashish Kumar (Ashfame)

@JJJ I think some of the files have been accidentally committed with native word in the following files.

bbp-themes/bbp-twentyten/bbpress/content-single-topic.php:native
bbp-themes/bbp-twentyten/bbpress/content-single-user-edit.php:native
bbp-themes/bbp-twentyten/bbpress/content-single-view.php:native
bbp-themes/bbp-twentyten/single-topic-merge.php:native
bbp-themes/bbp-twentyten/single-reply-edit.php:native

Using 2.0-beta3 version.

A Plugin to make a Forum Read Only

Published on July 16th, 2011 by roa360

Hello,

I really like the bbPress Forum and its integration with WP, but im a bit surprised at the fact that you cannot make forums read only, and the few plugin’s that say they can accomplished this are outdated, or do not work. Am I confused or am i missing something? I would really like to accomplish this, any help would be great. Thanks

Can I get an email?

Published on July 15th, 2011 by alegrand

I may be missing it…

I am using bbPress 2.0. I understand at this point there is no moderation cue… is there a way to set up emails notifications for EVERYTHING (not just the checked box under topics)?

Thanks…

2.0 RC1: Closing a topic doesn't work

Closing a topic in RC1 doesn’t seem to have any affect on anything: subscribers can still post to it, and the posts cause the closed topic to be bumped to the top.

Order of forums, topics and thread in new plugin

Published on July 15th, 2011 by venividi

I migrated to a new plugin.

It works fine for me.

I have one thing which I couldn’t resolve.

Forums, topics, thread are reverse order of old bbpress.

Where and how I could manage to change the order?

bbPress broke admin dashboard

Published on July 14th, 2011 by kizinko

Hello,

I am using BuddyPress & tried to incorporate bbPress into the site with the “enable bbPress forums” option in the BuddyPress settings located in the administrator dashboard. Now, not only does my forum not work, but the administrator dashboard doesn’t work either. In turn, I am unable to disable bbPress in the admin dashboard to correct the issue.

Someone please help! How do I get my dashboard back?

It is preferable to have the dashboard & the forum working, but the most important thing is to get the dashboard back. I can then install bbPress separately if I need to.

Thank you for your help in advance.

Moderation?

Published on July 14th, 2011 by alsur

I understood the plugin was to include a moderation queue.

I understand user, ip ban etc would now turn more to be a WP user plugin questions, but I am completely lost in how to make a forum become moderated and handle those replies.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Editing topics and replies in bbPress 2.0

Published on July 14th, 2011 by pimarts

Ok, just to see if everyone’s experiencing the same behaviour or something’s “wrong” at my end:

When I click on the edit link for a topic (first post) the link returns me to the topic page. (I would have hoped to edit the topic / post) So that doesn’t seem to be working. Maybe it’s because of the time constraint that allows you to edit topics/replies? I would like to disable that time constraint anyway. Any options there?

When I click on the edit link for a reply in that topic it shows me a page with the content of the page stripped and a “Edit this entry” link, if I click on that it sends me to wp-admin (with the post open to edit). Is there no “front-end” editing of the topic/reply possible? I’d like to keep people out of the admin as much as possible.

That’s happening when I’m an admin, when I’m a subscriber I don’t even see the edit links (although I have the “edit_replies” / “edit_topics” capabilities).

I’m running bbPress 2.0 RC1 – 3363. (Just in case it matters: I started out with the beta that’s in the WordPress repository and replaced it twice with updated versions from the trac.)
