Hello! Have been looking things over here and I’m wondering if this is the solution to my problems. I’m working on a web site with the following requirements:

1. Admins, and only admins, start new topics.

2. One topic, and one topic only, needs to be embedded in a web page. Each of the similar web pages will have a different topic.

3. Users can add their comments to a given topic (once they register.)

Can / how can this be done with bbPress? If not, do you have any suggestions about other software that can do this?

I am setting up a forum here: http://rebeccapersson.com/klub-sunde-born/

The forum is only for members. So for people not logged ind, they just get this message: “Oh bother! No forums were found here!” in danish of course.

This is not very useful and does not encourage guests to sign up. Is there a good way of throwing other content ind instead of this message?

I know I can go through all forum theme files and add stuff myself, but this is tedious and repetitious. Is there a better way of doing this from functions.php file?

Ive for ages trying to find a solution to my problem. I need a forum for my website and the Ive chosen BBpress. The thing is that I don’t want the bbpress theme to affect my wordpress theme. I´ve downloaded several themes, but have no idea where to install and how to activate. I also wonder if there are any place out there where I can download free or premium bbpress 2.0 themes?

I feel quiet stupid, since I look at my self as a person that usually figure things out

I created a BuddyPress compatible theme but when forums are enabled using bbPress I get the annoying message in Appearance panel that says:

“Your active theme does not include bbPress template files. Your forums are using the default styling included with bbPress.”

My theme displays the forums correctly with or withour BuddyPress enabled.

One of the great things about bbPress is the theme compatability mode. This message is unhelpful as it implies the current theme is not bbPress compatible. It is confusing users.

Is it possible to turn off this message?

Like some other users I noticed a missing search feature for the new and awesome bbPress 2.0+ plugin. So I just released a small and leightweight plugin for that:

-> it’s limited to the custom post types of bbPress: forums, topics, replies

-> there’s a drop-down to select one of these (a must) – so it also helps fine tune the search for the visitor…

-> it’s fully localized so you might translate the few strings into your language – I will attach any translations which are submitted to me!

I have installed bbPress plugin. The forum itself is wonderful. I am having a rough time displaying it properly on my site. Using the shortcode

, I have setup a page with a full-page attribute. The page is full-width but the forum is not.

I am assuming the forum’s widgets are taking up the space right of the forum. I don’t need them and rather the forum took up 100% of the available space.

I see there are additional templates for bbPress. Does this hold true for the plugin version? If so, how can additional templates be selected since this is not an option in the bbPress settings.

I am not a programmer but can following directions. Any help would be appreciated.

A member reported they couldn’t edit their post in a thread. I tested it (as administrator) and this is what came up:

Hi, i’m using BBPress 2.0 with BuddyPress 1.5 which were installed seperately and aren’t integrated through BP.

My BBPress forum is great, however after moving from SMF many members have asked for a “New Topic” button and a “Reply” button in the forums. They can reply or start new topics with the form at the bottom of the page, but for usability i’d like to make their transition a bit easier.

Is it possible to add a reply button to each post – one which quotes the post made?

Also, a reply button at the top/bottom of the thread which takes the user to a page with the posting form would be great.

Also is it possible to have a “New topic” button on the forum index?

Lastly, what files would I edit to make these changes?

Hey everyone.

We’re using the new 2.0 plugin and we’re running into a couple issues that are making it a bit difficult for us to use BBPress in the way we were intending to.

We have two separate forums right now, one for any user and a second customer only forum. Originally I set it up so that these customer-only forums were private, with read/write access restricted to a particular user-role that our customers get assigned to.

One of the things I’m struggling with the plugin is why these private forums/topics send non-customers to the 404 page instead of actually displaying that particular forum/thread with a message warning that person viewing that is it a private forum, or some other kind of message.

Seeing how integrated 2.0 is with WordPress, I’m rather surprised that there isn’t some kind of built-in association with user roles so that you can set certain forums to have restricted access based on these roles other than using a user role managing plugin.

Is there something fundamental about BBPress 2.0 that I am missing here? Is this a feature that is being planned? As it stands it is a bit difficult to do what we are trying to achieve right now.

At the forum, I can do that a subscriber can only comment on open issues? I do not want subscribers can post new topics … Is this possible?
