Hi,

I have been waiting almost a week for a post in the Troubleshooting forum to be approved by moderators because I included hypothetical example urls in the post. How long does it take?

My server is showing this error repeatedly:
“PHP Parse error: syntax error, unexpected ‘new’ (T_NEW) in /home/…/bb-settings.php on line 188”

When I look at line 186 thru 190 of bb-settings.php, it shows this statement:

// Setup the global database connection
$bbdb_class = BB_DATABASE_CLASS;
$bbdb =& new $bbdb_class( array(
	'name' => BBDB_NAME,
	'user' => BBDB_USER,

I am trying to troubleshoot what it is about that line with the “new” statement that causes this parse/syntax error repeatedly by the server. Any thoughts are appreciated. Thank-you.

When logged in and we use the forum search the results are password protected and they shouldn’t be.

I have disabled all plugins apart from bbPress and tried it on a default theme but the problem persists.

I will preface this to say that I am using the BuddyBoss plugin and theme. But as it also uses the same widgets, I am coming here to try to get some help on how to use this widget.

I am trying to set it up in the sidebar of a BB group.

I only see 2 options for this widget: “0” to show only root – “any” to show all
(This, to me, is extremely vague info…)

What I want is to show a SPECIFIC forum and it’s subforums. Is there a way to do this with this widget? I’ve tried using the forum ID as well as it’s permalink…but neither did anything.

This is my first post in this forum, so I apologize if this may sound like a no-brainer question.

I went through a number of threats and understood that adding a topic tag cloud to a search page requires…

(1) activation of the tagging feature in the forum settings (Done)
(2) adding an HTML widget to the respective sidebar and (Done)
(3) pasting the relevant HTML code snippet into the widget. (Open)

Where can I find the HTML required for step number 3?

Any advice is much appreciated.

Hi all,

I am wanting to apply a filter for the text submitted in content posted either through the creation of a new topic, editing of an existing topic, new replies, editing new replies, and so on. For some reason “\n \r” is not being saved in any post content and I have to replace them with “<br />”.

Is there a ‘master’ hook for which all content is passed? I was able to get replies working for bbp_new_reply_pre_content, but can’t imagine I have to do all those individually(bbp_edit_reply_pre_content).

I am running Avada theme.
Installed bbPress.
Added Forums menu from Appearance –> Menus —> Forums –> Forums (my top level forum page)
The menu item appears properly on the left and links properly to my forums main page, but under the menu Title “Forums” is a second line of text that says “bbPress Forums”.

I can’t seem to find where to remove that second line of text from my menu.

Any thoughts?

I can scheduled topics ahead of time from the backend, but is there a way to subscribe to them before they are actually posted?

I often get quick replies when they are posted and I would like to be notified as soon as possible after they post.

The plugin page shows last updated 9 months ago and Tested up to: 5.6.4 when the current version of WordPress is 5.8. Is bbPress still being maintained?

I am working on a site through Elementor Pro (A website builder) and through it I create templates. The templates are then applied to the pages that I designate.

I installed BBPress and assigned a template to the forums page. However, it does not apply to the users page. In this case the problem is that the main menu is almost invisible.
