New bbPress installation not updating BuddyPress activity feed.

Published on March 22nd, 2012 by Unit9

Hi guys,

I installed the latest version of WordPress, then used the ‘Plugins’ search to install BuddyPress, and then within the /Forums/ section I installed bbPress.

Everything is working wonderfully, except when anyone posts on the forums it doesn’t update their activity feed:

http://buddypress.p-h1.com/community/topic/this-is-my-first-topic/

And here is the admin activity page:

http://buddypress.p-h1.com/members/admin/

Is there anything I can do to fix this? It’s the one remaining piece of functionality I’d like to be working.

2.1 download

Published on March 22nd, 2012 by katmmad

OK. Sorry for such a dumb question, but this is seriously frustrating to me: how do I download and install the 2.1 beta? Trying to use the Genesis Extend plugin, but it only works with 2.1. I found a link on the BBP forums to the trac page that has the .zip file, but when I upload it on the backend a) BBP remains 2.0 b) there is no new plugin called “branches” or whatever the .zip file is.

Does it matter that my BBP plugin was uploaded via Buddypress?

How do you post images and video in 2.1?

The new editor is awesome but I didn’t see options for these 2 items. Is this being worked on or am I missing something?

Thanks.

Spam filter over eager

Published on March 21st, 2012 by tyskkvinna

My members are allowed to post urls that have a non-specific ending (such as www.yourdomain.com) but not a specific page (www.yourdomain.com/page.html) — the latter gets sent into spam.

How can I change this? I have fairly strict moderation on new members so spam posting is not an issue. I would like them to be able to post urls even if they end in page.html or whatever.

Budypress forum to bbPress forum

Published on March 21st, 2012 by

I have site where I have BP forum. And I’m making new site, where I want to include topics from old site. Topics are in buddypress, while new site will have bbpress…

Can I do that? If so, how?

Problem with displaying time etc…

Published on March 21st, 2012 by frank8265

Hi,

I’m just building a site and want to use bbpress as a forum. Mostly because it works with a bilingual site.

However, if i open a topic, it doesn’t display date, time etc…

example:

Any ideas / solutions?

Trying to make a forum index page.

Published on March 21st, 2012 by rhek

I am having some problems generating a forum index page.

Once I created my forums I thought that by adding the url http://cyclistzone.com/vozcycling/forums/ to the menu I would be in business. Going to the url shows a featured article and the bbPress sidebar, not a forum index.

Since I did not get a forum index I created a new page and named it Forums. I then pasted the shortcode

into the body of the page and nothing changed. The same results were displayed as if I did not have a page. Almost seems like bbPress ignored my page.

Here is the link to the page…

http://cyclistzone.com/vozcycling/forums/

The next thing I did was to create another page and name it “Test Forum.” I inserted the shortcode and this page displayed a forum index for me.

http://cyclistzone.com/vozcycling/test-forum/

The problem I am having now is that the slug “test-forum” only relates to this page and not to any of the forum pages because the slug “test-forum” does not exist in the bbPress settings. Those settings use the slug “forums/forum”. If I change the “forums” slug to “test-forum” I end up back to my original problem.

I would like to leave my slugs defaulted to their original values. I just want a forum index page using the bbPress slugs and have a bbPress sidebar.

This is probably simple, but I have not figured it out yet, so I hope someone can shed some light on what I am doing wrong.

Thanks,

Rhek

2 forums on the same domain

Published on March 20th, 2012 by bmdesign

Hi,

I have had a request from a client, that they want 2 forums on the same domain, one for researchers and one for clients, is it possible to have 2 separate forums on the same domain just on different url’s?

Any advice would be much appreciated.

Thanks,

bmdesign
