Layout errors and 404

Published on November 15th, 2013 by CouponCodePlugin

Hello, I have installed bbpress and added a forum and topic.
WordPress and BBPress are both the latest version.

The forum shows in a really odd way with items stacked on top of each other.
http://imagphoto.com/forums/forum/new-forum/

Secondly, the breadcrumb link to the forum results in a 404 http://imagphoto.com/forums/forum/
Yet the parent link in the breadcrumb works http://imagphoto.com/forums/

Is it possible to use pages and the shortcodes to have the forum within a page so that I can control the settings of the page and maybe dump the sidebar to see if that corrects the issue? I checked the documentation but could not see anything about this specific issue.

Many thanks for your help 🙂

Imported mingle forum, posts in many posts separated into topics

Published on November 15th, 2013 by kentlii

I have imported a mingle forum to bbpress and it seems like most of it went fine. However there is one problem with about 10% of the topics.
Some of the posts in the topics has separated from the topic and created their own duplicate topic, but with just the one post, that was separated from the topic.

For instance you have a topic: new bike.
Author original: I want to buy a new bike, which do you recommend. (time: 14. nov. 10.40)
author 1: Cervelo is very good. (time: 14. nov. 11.45)
author 2: Yes take cervelo it is the best (time: 14. nov. 13.50)
Author original: great thx, will check it out
author 3: I prefer cannondale (time: 15. nov 10.05)
author 4: choose centurion (time: 15. nov. 12.30)

The import is done and now you get
Topic: new bike
Author original: great thx, will check it out (time: 14. nov. 16.40)
author 3: I prefer cannondale (time: 15. nov 10.05)

Topic: new bike
Author original:Cervelo is very good (time: 14. nov. 16.40)

Topic: new bike
Author original: choose centurion (time: 14. nov. 16.40)

Topic: new bike
Author original: I want to buy a new bike, which do you recommend. (time: 14. nov. 16.40)

Notice it has changed the time on the new topics to the same on all of them as well.

Any idea for a solution for this?
The forum has several thousands topics and replies, so it would be a lot to manually move all of them.

phpBB Import speed

Published on November 15th, 2013 by matrixino

Hi all. I’m having some problems importing my phpBB forum into bbPress. My forum is quite big, those are my stats:
Posts: 576133 | Topics: 32722 | Users: 12306

I first tried a default import with 1000row/1sec setting. It ran for an entire day, however after around 60000 posts it just started giving me dashes (‘-‘ char) and I really didn’t know what to do or if it was normal. So i just stopped it.

After this I wanted to try more rows, assuming it was going to be faster. So I started (2 tries) a 5000 and a 10000 row imports. However I had it on starting conversion for an hours or more, and never actually started converting. I don’t have memory problems or errors, it’s just very slow I guess.

So my question is: Is there a way to import all together, maybe directly with some bash script, from shell without using a webserver. Or something else to speed it up instead of waiting days in my browser?

Thanks.

Forum Styles Broken

Published on November 15th, 2013 by gmingle

Hello, Recently my forums styles have gone completely AWOL on me. The rest of the website works flawlessly and the main forums work fine, but when I click to go to an actual post the theme is entirely gone.

www.Gamermingle.com is the main website, and
www.gamermingle.com/forums are the forums, just click on a post and you will see how the style has disappeared.

If anyone has an idea whats wrong and how to fix it I would love the help. Thank you.

Assign anonymous posts to registered user

Published on November 15th, 2013 by

I have set up a forum where some users are not that technically inclined, to put it mildly.

To lower the barrier of entry, I have allowed anonymous posting. Some users seem to appreciate that but other users first registere an account and then forget to log in and instead post as unregistered users.

Is there an easy way to assign theses posts to the correct registered user?

bbpress notification box

Published on November 15th, 2013 by shearamariz

Hi,

I wonder if there is a notification box or area for a user to see if his topic is under moderation? or a page. It seems to be hassle for the user to receive it via email. Also, I know there is a plugin called bbpress moderation but I don’t want to use it as it will slow down my site. I want everything to be just php code under the bbpress.

Can anyone help me? Thanks.
